There is no-chance the tranquility server will ever be reset as has been suggested on another thread ive read which ****d me off, it would kill eve altogether so it an idea u'll have to forget.
So What about the idea of creating a 2nd server like DAOC has, on this server the problems causing whining could be resolved.
1. the tranquility server as it is, if you dont like or its not fair dont play on it.
2. A new server that is only PvE except for corp wars. All the people who whine about pod killing, piracy and have made ccp put stupid sentry guns everywhere and and make halve the map off limits to ppl can go onto this server and all have a happy, peaceful time and can all be freinds and when there feeling really bold and dangerous they can go kill The Dealy NPC pirates.....WOW.
For PvP, when everyone involved is informed and agrees(dont want to be unfair to the other corp, u have to give them good notice) they can arrange a corp battle with each other(with tea breaks every halh hour of course). Eve's population is growing and growing so in another month or two it might even be able to support it.
Also anyone who is a bold boy(eg robs something or even attempts piracy, scams someone or slags someone) gets a big red marker on them and everyone can check on the map exactly where they are and avoid any kind of danger whats so ever.
People who are complaing that everyone else who started before them had unfair advantages can restart, we can also have infinite research/factory slots and offices so everyone can play together closely, not get lonely and makes things more fair. We can also make shutttles invincable or untargetable so nobody has to risk transfering anything costly.
Now when they are finaly gone ccp can put the game back to the way it was and let us play it and enjoy ourselves. Because if they keep going the down the road they are this game is going to become very very dull indeed.
Because as it stands there is two distinctly different type of player's playing this game and "This town ain't big enough for both of us"

This may sound selfish, but overall I like the way things are now. I would like to see the dev's working on bug fixes and content instead of creating a dedicated PvE/carebear universe. |

If this happens, Eve is dead. This game is all about players interacting in a free(ish) universe. How boring would it be if you could only mine and hunt NPC pirates with little danger.
The PvP feature of Eve has already been severly limited.

I just dont get it. Pirates get kicked out of all systems 1.0 - .1 security in those systems gets a ridiculous.
YET ALL CAREBEARS STILL WHINE? if you do not want to engage in pvp then THINK before entering 0.0 systems, easy as pie.
If you want a totally non pvp experience go play Earth or Beyond, isnt that the total carebear space game?
there will always be someone who took a chance, did a stupid thing, and is mad that he failed.
Live with it

Don't you think there wouldn't be much left in EVE if there was no PC fights?
Actually, EVE is already lacking PvP components, since at the moment what is being done is really PK, and there is no fair PvP. Again, I don't think so many people are against PvP, it seems most people complaining find fighting is not fair, and complain they have been PKed.

splitting the userbase is no fun at all.
There are many reasons why, which I will let the others post.
But I would leave, and I've only had pvp twice. Both times unrequested, Both times exciting. Take out the risk, and you take out most of the fun.
Would gambling be fun if you couldn't lose *everything* you put in the pot? I think not.
Would a movie be fun without the bad guy (usually european, strangely)? I think not.
And I feel the same way about Eve. I find the risk to be far, far too low. Especially for newbies. When I started, I would **** myself going into a 0.6 system, because it wasn't *safe* any lower, and I was practically trembling. Now you don't even need guns in empire space. There is nil risk. I can't imagine how that could be entertaining.
I remember getting a warning when I first entered a 0.4 system, telling me that it was dangerous, and the risk and responsibility was all mine. Is that still there? Because you don't need it anymore.
Thankfully, I'm beginning to see threads like 'I got ganked, and it was exciting'. I guess, as people mature into the game, I guess they start to understand the whole situation a bit better.
Most of the people who didn't like being ganked are the ignorant 'I just got a cruiser with all my money' types. And their numbers seem to be dwindling, as they see more posts about gankings, and what they can/will lose.
But I don't think a second server will help in the slightest. .

What Eve needs is to mature to a point where those players/corps that spent all this time amassing enormous fortunes feel confident that they can engage in a war (against other corps, or pirates or whatever) and come out of it. At this point most people still feel they have too much to loose, and those who mught have the muscle prefer to avoid conflict. Corp wars are the "institutionalized/ritualized" conflicts where the so called carebears may finally find the skills and tactics that give them the confidence to face pirates, PKs, and other non-consensual forms of conflict. Until then it is something they will stay away from.
This is all wishfull thinking of course. But if this balance is reached Eve will do something no other game has done before.

Absolutly, 99 % of us accept the results of playing a free universe . Whining about dieing is pretty poor really . Yes there should be areas where being agged by players should be implamented . If you dont you will find noobs being put off the game and that wouldnt be right or benificial for this game or any game online . That said over protection is also off putting and could make the game a little tedious for all. Makes sectors down to -.3 or similar (whatever we think is best) safe areas with sentry guns or whatever . The rest you will have to take your chances. At least this should give you the option of taking a long safe run or getting the old adrenalin going by takeing the direct route. I dont PVP personally but I dont wont the realism ruined by people who cant accept a little danger , I think they are missing the point IMHO.

I played a PvP oriented space sim game for almost 3 years. The devfs of that game were big PvP guys.
The whiners eventually made it a hassle to play the game. They made the forums a hell of flames and general maliase. I'm begining to think the whiners eventually get every game. the do not want to be bothered to really do any thing other than thier little niche.
If pirates bother them they scream for the "Devs to do something cause it is out of control!" even though the only person maybe killed in the last 3 hours by a pirate was them.
If they cannot make money in HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE portions in 10 mins.. " this game suck you can't make enough to compete"
If they cannot find the rarest of asteroids in 10 mins it is all a plot to ruin thier fun.
I wont even get into the TOS agreement arguemeants about negatively affecting game play
In the last game they even got the GMs to hel hem set up a court system so they could sue pirates. and get htier money with out firing a shot. IE if they won the devs would go into your acount and take your money.
The whiners will always be here just ignore them The last statement goes esp for any developers that read this. the more you appease them the worse it will bw.

Heh, you're right, Tonto, I totally missed that. I guess it's because he started out serious.
I am hereby proclaiming myself guilty of the second rule of forums: Read>comprehend>post.
Sorry guys. My bad. I have about 15 threads open at the moment, due to the lack of thread subscription, so my brain is a little addled. Also, I'm supposed to be working right now :/
It was actually quite funny too. .

"Actually, EVE is already lacking PvP components, since at the moment what is being done is really PK, and there is no fair PvP."
If the aggressor is being smart, it will never be fair. Fair is for board games not for tactical type games.
Using advantages like superior numbers or choosing the combat site is what combat is all about.

Maybe the patch was deliberately set so a lot of us could start reaching the point where corp. battles ARE feasible and your losses can be recouped more easily.
They'll eventually tweak the PVP so it's more fair for the pirates (but really f*cks up the pk'ers).

Well a PvE server may be cool for some people but there aren't enough subscribers to fill the server we got now, to say nothing of filling 2 servers.

I dont see what the **** people could be complaining about now, YOU CAN BUY INSURANCE AND GET CLONES, WTF ELSE COULD POSSIBLY MAKE YOU FAIL SAFE MY GOD. Ive been killed and podded many times and I get a damn nice thrill each time it happens, makes me want to play the game more, I will say that the mods stacking was a bit damn extreme. That was grounds for Pkers instead of PvP. Now the tables have turned SO QUIT *****ING AND GET OUT THERE AND PLAY
