Hello,
According to Halada's mining guide, which was my bible when i was a noob, it's possible with perfect skills and an implant to get 100% refining efficiency out of a Refining Array with it's .35 (didn't it used to be 30?) yield.
I was later told that the new and improved Intensive Refinery Array with its .75 % refining is better than any high sec station.
I was later told that skills do not matter for the Intensive Refinery Array and that it takes a flat 25% tax off all the rocks you mine, making it (and arkonor) rather less proffitable without an Rorqual around to compress them.
Each of these refinery arrays has the sentance "Refining yield efficiency does not apply to ice ores, which are always refined at the maximum efficiency the operator is capable of" on its description. This seems to imply that skills DO matter for non-ice ores.
So which is it? Do skills apply to either of these? Is the .75 better than the .35 -- or worse because it takes a flat tax while the .35 applies skills? What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit? Answers: https://eve-industrialist.com/ Never sell an item for less than its mineral costs again! |

Skill matters. The most you can get out of an intensive array is 75% ore or 100% ice. |

For ore: without skills you'll refine at 35%. Skills increase your yield, but it cannot go past 75% (in the same way that stations and outposts can't go above 100% yield). For ice, no matter what it refines at 100%. |

POS refining arrays suk ballz. Something about having to wait for it to finish, and limited volume. Do it at a station. "How do you kill that which has no life?" |

I'm venturing into WH space to keep the more action-oriented members of my corp engaged. So until we get a Rorqual i'll be stuck with refineries.
So they both are limited at .75 at perfect skills? even the .35 one? why does the .75 one take so much more to anchor then? how are they actually different?
I have used a .75 in a WH before and am familiar with the wait. What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit? Answers: https://eve-industrialist.com/ Never sell an item for less than its mineral costs again! |

ther various refineries have different capacity 'per batch' of ore/ice you refine. And also different times until the refining cycle is completed. Either eay they suck.
only use I can think of for a refinery is to keep your Rorqual fueled up while mining ice. |

All right then, thanks. What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit? Answers: https://eve-industrialist.com/ Never sell an item for less than its mineral costs again! |

I have posted this several times, as the question seems to come up about every 2-3 weeks.
http://eve-lifeinthehole.blogspot.com/2010/01/eve-pos-refining-yields.html
When I lived in W-space, this is what I found by trial and error with different characters at different skill levels.
It may very well have changed since I posted but it was true then.
The basic array with its 35% cap sucks, don't ever, ever, ever use it.
The two 75% cap arrays differ in amount per cycle and cycle time IIRC.
Both still suck compared to compressing and hauling the ore out to k-space.
The one good use for POS refinery arrays is Ice in Null, where there is no loss.
Hope this helps |

One of the ways to improve null, and especially to make it more accessible, would be to let us have 100% refining at a PoS. It's bad enough we have to wait, we shouldn't get screwed over twice by having lower yield. |

CCP does NOT want you to mine easily in the WH. There is a reason they want to remove ABC from class 1-4 whs. So while you and I both think skills should matter on a refinery they wont give it to you. You will have to learn the hard way CCP does not like the miner. They want you to pew pew. So take your weak, defenseless ships and head to Null sec (where Alliances HATE you and pirates will love you) find an outpost (if an alliance will let you use it) or a safe npc station (good luck with that) and get to mining those ABC ores that will net you 60mil and hour isk with perfect skills and a rorqual.
Have fun!!! |

Speak for yourself. I don't want to mine easilyin a WH lol. And having imperfect refineries gives me the incentive i need to build a Rorqual in there. which gives you guys something else to shoot at.
0.0 isn't fun for such as me. While high sec corps appreciate when I pvp with them in a war dec or even on a practice roam, in 0.0 it's lose-lose -- they dont' want carebears ... but neither do they want me in their pvp fleets!
WH is more doable because i need to find (and i have found) a small number of pvpers who want me around. For 0.0 i'd need to find 100 to 1000 pvpers who want me around... and while i'm proud of my recruiting skills i'm not that good!
So i will refine with refineries (I now know to get a .75 not a .35) until i make enough minerals to build a Rorqual. No problems here. Just a solution based on information I got off the forums (thanks guys!) instead of googling for hours.
While i don't believe eve should force eveone into pvp, i do believe it should reward those who take greater risks... i should not be (and am not anymore as far as i know) able to make more isk in high sec than WH or 0.0.
CCP did well with their WH option and i would support removing ABC ores from WH that have a high sec static -- but taking them out of c4 is a bit much... if the CCP did tho i'd just mine more H-rocks and Gneiss (which i like for some reason despite it's low isk) so long as i can keep coding while mining (anything... tho maybe not ice) i'm a happy miner. What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit?
