Something I think is funny is how people all seem to talk about 0.0 space being a miners heaven. Someone even mentioned being able to pay for that raven with a few days of mining....
I was bored yesterday, and decided to scout out some trade routes. I found an extremely nice one, that netted me 6 mil 1 way for a 1 jump route. 6 million isk in under 10 mins, is absolutely insane. I logged in today, and noticed it had completely regenerated, so another 6 mil isk in 10 mins.
I have zero trade skills, because I'm playing my alt who is pure fighter, in fact I had to train up my indi skill just to use this route.
So my question is this, If I can make 3-4 mil in a couple hours running missions in secure space, 6 mil in 10 mins running a trade route in .6 space, why the heck would I EVER want to go to 0.0 space?
I agree that some of the items I've read about, unique implants ect. are nice 'carrots' to lure people to 0.0 space, but since I can make more than enough isk in Empire space as a freelance mission runner/trader, to buy them on the market, what's the point?
Even worse, there is a guy in UoC who manufactures all kinds of stuff, his average profit per day is 40 mil, he has never been below .5 in over 1 year.
To make 0.0 space viable, 1 of 3 things needs to be done as I see it.
1) Tech 2 items should not be allowed in secure space at all. It should be banned, just like small arms in Caldari space. The only place you should be able to buy them, make them, use them is in < 0.4 space.
2) You should recieve MASSIVE bonuses for hunting/mission running in 0.0 space. I'm not talking of isk, isk can be made anywhere. I mean something like genetic engineering to perminately raise your stats. These increases would be like implants, in that they would be lost on death, but not able to be sold. Imagine the push as people try to get perception, or memory upgrades, to go over the current reachable limit.
3) Remove mega/zydine from all loot items. Make it so unstable that once it is processed, it can not be recovered by simply breaking down items. As it stands now, on a good day, I can get enough speed mods, and ECCMs to cover a small manufacturing empire's mega needs for a week. This would force people to head out to less secure space to mine the mega/zydine they need to build items.
Until 1 or better yet all 3 of these ideas are used in one form or another, the risk of losing everything is too great for the reward. Especially since at under 1 month old, my alt can easily make 10 mil a day now in .6 space.
