The State was founded so that Caldari could be Caldari. Too many worthy men and women gave their lives so that we, as a people, would be free to forge our own path in this cluster, without the oppression of the Gallente. Things have now come full circle, where Caldari oppress themselves. Heth and his Provists are making a mockery of all that our ancestors fought for--what they died for. The Megacorps that fancy themselves the leaders of the State have proven to be no better than the Gallente Senate. The rot has spread too far. It is time for the State as we know it to fall. Megacorp CEOs should be put up against the wall and shot, their assets distributed to the Caldari people that they have exploited. Heth and his henchmen in the CPD should be hanged, their bodies burned and ashes shot into a black hole so that nothing of them survives.
There is a refuge where the Caldari culture has been allowed to flourish. The Guristas, labeled as pirates and slandered at every opportunity by the tyrants in the State, are a beacon to every freedom loving Caldari. Their prisons are among the best, most efficient, effective and human in the Cluster. They take great care to protect their people from marauding bands of State Warships. Fatal The future of Caldari culture rests with the Guristas.
I will be going to Venal, to offer my assistance and allegiance to the Guristas. The hope for the Caldari people rests not with the CPD, CEP, or eight Megas, but a group of people that are labeled pirates. I will find a spot for anyone that wishes to join me. To those that are referred to as baseliners, do not think that you cannot contribute. Crews will be needed, support staff as well. Anyone can make a difference and bring forth a better future for our people. |

Have fun with that, meanwhile the true Caldari will try to solve the States problems from within its borders, without running to thieves and murderers for some sort of twisted form of freedom. Tibus came to power through the will of the people, he can fall the same way should the Caldari demand it.

Admiral Yakiya Tovil-Toba gave his life in the defence of a State that had walked into a war it had no plan or means to fight. A war that cost it Home as well as millions of it's civilians.
He was unsupported and yet he fought to the death for the State and the people of the State.
I don't see him running away to join Pirates because the going gets tough. |

You must really be fresh out of the tubes if you truly think the Gurista are humanists and altruists with the best interests of Caldari at heart. They are a criminal cartel operated by spineless Navy rejects who couldn't make the cut which focuses on profiting from the sale of illicit goods, sabotage and industrial espionage against State companies - only a fool would actually swallow any notions of, "Freedom and Liberty" they espouse for what it means in fact is the freedom to live as a worthless parasite upon the State.
However, even the weak, foolish and worthless failures of a citizen in the State need a home that reflects their pathetic existence and the Gurista is as suitable a home for such as their kind. All the better, believe you will find safe haven, create your ersatz life devoid of merit or ability, live free and be merry as you wallow in the joys you may find in the repudiation of your duty and become complacent that vengeance will never find you -- for it is on that day, I hope and pray that I shall be there when your homes are vitrified into plains of silicate glass, your sons and daughters slaughtered by the bushel loads to be stacked in ditches, and scum such as yourself choke upon the void as you are summarily ejected out the nearest airlock. |

Yes, because it's extremely Caldair to turn tail and run from our problems rather than face them. It's extremely Caldari to petition public opinion rather than executive decisive action. It's extremely Caldari to abandon one's community, one's people and one's leaders rather than stand resolute against the struggle.
In case you haven't noticed lass, I'm being sarcastic.
The Caldari thing to do is to stand and fight against what the State has and is becoming if you disagree with its direction. To be the heart and soul of the Caldari people when we need it and to demonstrate your resolve by remaining unyielding and uncompromising in the midst of adversity.
What you are suggesting is turning to a group of pirates whose concern isn't for the Caldari people but for their own personal way of life and liberties. (Which are cover words for pillaging, marauding, profiteering and oppressing those weaker than themselves.) You've abandoned the Caldari people and fled from the opposition. Should we meet one another in space, I'll extend to you the same courtesy I extend to all other brigands and pirates - a swift destruction. ~Malcolm Khross

You're no relation to a Tovil-Toba, either by blood or spirit. There are no records I can find linking you to the Tovil-Toba family. So, basically, you're trading on the name of a national hero to try to advocate for piracy. Well, that, or you are trying to be a Special Space Princess. Probably both.
Tovil-Toba fought for the Megas. Tovil-Toba fought for the Caldari people. Many of us disagree with Heth, no Caldari citizen fights against the Megas. The Megacorporations are who we are. Stating that they should be destroyed is arguing for the destruction of the Caldari culture, and the Caldari people.
The Guristas are active allies of the Nation, an entity that has spent the previous few years enslaving anyone it can find. The Guristas have openly advocated capsuleer assistance to the Nation, as well. The Guristas are also allies of the Blood Raiders. Oh, and, in addition to that, they have their own crimes, which include kidnapping, murder, assassination, bombardment of planets with nerve agents, sabotage, and many other crimes too numerous to list. To suggest that they are some sort of haven for Caldari isn't just deceptive, it's blatantly stupid, considering the fact that everyone knows this.
And as for we capsuleers, don't forget that one of the founding members of the Guristas has some serious issues with podders, and wants us all dead. Sounds like an excellent employment prospect, doesn't it? For you, that is. Those of us with loyalty, some ethics, and a modicum of intelligence know where our actions are best direct. |

No, but being Caldari has everything to do with fighting for our principles and heritage.
What you've chosen is abandoning them to serve alongside others whom have abandoned them and you're attempting to pretty-it-up with delusions of grandeur.
The Guristas are not glamorous, they do not support the Caldari people they have no care for the Caldari customs and time-honored traditions that have passed from the Raata Empire and through the ages. If you seek to help bring the Caldari people back toward our founding roots, the way to do it is to stand for those principles and beliefs against all opposition and in the midst of adversity not cast them to the Winds and turn your guns against your own people. ~Malcolm Khross

I have only recently been granted the separation from the State to appreciate this delicious irony, but the wait has been worth it.
I am quite simply staggered, now I see it from the outside, how a proud, technologically advanced nation boasting some of the most advanced star ships and metropolitan organisational schemes of the entire cluster (barring an obvious exception), is always looking to 'return to X, or reclaim the age of Y'. How did our forward thinking people become so fixated on the dead days of the past?
Learn from them? Definitely. But living there is a pretty terrible idea, it just means you'll always treat your present and future as baggage you are forced to carry around while you pine for better days you never even experienced for yourself.
Let the girl go Guri. Sure, anarchy and a penchant for theft and sabotage will probably provide her with a pretty lasting state of culture shock, but she might learn something other than history. |

I begin to wonder if you ever truly understood the State and its people, it simply baffles me that you could have this mindset regarding it, having seen it from inside. I could understand why an outsider would have this viewpoint, but someone that once lived as part of the State and the Caldari?
It's not about living in the past, it's about honoring it. It's not about returning to the days of yore, it's about not forsaking that which lent us the strength, courage and wisdom to bring us where we are today.
Surely you've read works of literature? You understand that the story and characters involved are products of their past and history, they quite literally develop as the story progresses. If you forsake the story and remove the elements of their past, then they are empty and hollow and absent reason to be whom and what they are.
The Caldari people are whom we are because of the paths we have traveled, because of the history of our people. To forsake our history is to abandon all that made us whom we are. We do not seek to live in the past, we seek to honor it and remember it so it may always serve as a reminder and guide toward our future.
A lesson you clearly never learned. ~Malcolm Khross

I understand how the State likes to pitch itself, but the marketing isn't quite matching the product anymore. You lot can't even agree on what it is to even BE Caldari anymore. I remember when it was about faction and bloc politics, abut badges and incremental ideological differences; not this mess of attempting to define what you even are anymore.
Yes the Caldari learn from their past, I said as such, but in these times more and more of you seem to want nothing more than to undo the last few years of progress and go back to lining the pockets of your favourite CEO (whether you like it or not). That is the 'living in the past' I am speaking of, and the vast majority of capsuleer 'Caldari' decrying and even instigating violent rhetoric against a war hero, the current Executor, are just a symptom of the palsy that has gripped the State. Even if they get the old corrupt nepotism they are so keen on, they will not be satisfied, and they cannot die.
Personally, I do not think it is a sickness the State will recover from, but with any luck it is one it can withstand long enough to drag the Federation down with it.
Thinking about it, there is more and more reason for the girl to go Guri. They're pretty good at picking apart the remains of State facilities and coming up with something previously unheard of. Who knows what they could make out of the corpse of your State. |

Lying to try and discredit someone is a wonderful idea, assuming others don't have access to those same records and can easily ascertain that you are lying. Her great (times 7) grandfather was Goro Tovil-Toba, YakiyaTobil-Toba's first cousin-which meant that they had the same grandfather.
Her branch of the family settled in Ticho, a largish city on New Caldari, away from the 'main' branch of the Tobil-Tova family that were the direct descendants of Yakiya. The family are Lai Dai citizens, although, many join the Caldari Navy. Seraphia is the first in her branch of the family to ascend to the ranks of capsuleer and her family has released a statement condemning her in the strongest possible terms, saying "We have no daughter Seraphia." They also added that if the girl ever came to her senses, she should do the honorable thing and take her own life.
