Hey all, I've been messing around with a couple of fits in Pyfa in preparation to begin some wormhole operations with an alt and I. My alt will be doing the scanning, salvaging, hacking, etc. The problem I'm having right now is deciding between two Tengu fits.
[Tengu 1]
Low: Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Power Diagnostic System II

[Tengu 2]

Total Estimated Cost: 1.86B ISK
The first fit sacrifices DPS for HPS while the second sacrifices HPS for DPS. How much DPS and HPS is required for up to C3 WH's clearing sites solo? Is either overkill in one direction? Are the fits completely terrible? Any help is appreciated! I am just starting to fly the Tengu.
Thanks, Sakari Yuki

Okay, since i'm feeling nice this morning let me give you some advice (and you can choose to take it or not)
For sleeper sites c1 - c3 just use drakes. Sure you can use a tengu, but why spend just short of 2b on a ship when a ship that will cost just over 100 mil fitted will get the job done. Hell, put your alt in a drake too and get them both in the site (and it will be quicker than you doing them solo in your tengu)
The fits you've listed are waaaaay over the top for c1-c3s (you have 4 CNBCs - i mean fit 2 faction BCs max - the benifit you get is minor)
Anyways, if you do decide to sites in a Tengu like that take my advice - stay aligned (and even that may not save you)
Good Luck!

This is a very shiny fit, which will lookgood on a killboard.
For C1-3 you should be able to get by with a T2 fit with some active attention to capacitor. If you get tackled by a small gang with neuts you're screwed not matter what.
You should be able to amortize the cost of a T2 fit in about 10 C3 sites. This fit will take you 40-50 depending on melted nano salvage results.
A faction shield booster will make life easier. Dread Gurista should work fine. |

If you're feeling even nicer, would you mind giving an example of a Drake fit that can do C3's easy enough? |

I think I may do that. I figured C-Type modules were cheap enough, but you may be right. |

I don't know about C3 but C1 anoms can be done easily in a drake with a target painter. As somebody else said, bring the 2nd drake for C2 to run them faster but, if you insist on Tengu, drop most of the shini mods.
One CN BC in lows, use a faction shield booster amplifier (gurista is fine) and if you want a DED AB. Everything else, T2. And if you insist in investing more isk, better use T2 Rigor and Flare. They will help you kill the small sleepers faster. |

Drake for C1 C2. Tengu for C3 if you insist. You do know you are going to get whacked at some point I hope. |

I'm a bit confused. You tell me the fits I put together are too "shiny" yet link to a thread saying the "shinier" the better? |

You have not specified what kind of operation. If you want to add content and be a shiny part of somebody's killboard please use the most expensive fit. If you want to do the sites and become just a blip on the kb, use the cheapest fit that does the job. In this case Drake. You will eventually loose them to another player whatever ship or fit you choose. Read the entire thread......yes there are shiny tengu's in there, as well as cheaper setups. Also, there is some other useful info in there hinting at how to treat C3's.
For c1-2's, while a tengu may do them faster, a drake can also easily do them; and WHEN the drake dies, your pocket won't feel it as much.
Edit: There are several other "C3 tengu" threads posted in this sub-forum. You may want to look them up. |

You could fly a t2 fitted tengu or a t2 fitted drake. What can you afford to lose?
I would say the tengu would complete the site faster with slightly better damage projection but you pay a lot for it.
Why not try it and see? |

Tengu with 3bcs', dread large booster, 5hmls, shield boost amp, and all resists above 80 or 78% will do just fine. Speed tanking is plenty. Stay away from their neuts. Keep moving.
Only near expensive things you will need on a tengu are a dread lg booster and your subsystems. Carry a few blue pills with you. Pop one if you are worried about you tank. Oh, 3ccc rigs work well to keep the fit cap stable, and keep your tank cheap.
If you rather go over 1b total hull+fitting, then i look forward to seeing that on a killmail. |

Sith Yup.
I can solo C3s - some of them, anyway - in a properly fit Drake, even after Retribution 1.1. HAMs are the trick. You have to watch your tank and be careful on spawn triggers, and be ready to warp out when your tank starts to break, but it's do-able. Actually, I find it preferable - It's more exciting than standing back and 'F1'ing some HMs.
Bring an alt with combat probes to keep a watch for strange vessels - Spamming D-scan is not foolproof, especially against a skilled WH combat scanner. You see someone strange, drop everything and GTFO. Or at least get to a safe and cloak up. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.
