It's a long shot, but are there enough ex-pat Kiwis and Aussies in Reykjavik for there to be some sort of ANZAC Day do?
(A little light Googling didn't turn up promising leads. I might be jet-lagged enough for Binyon's lines at dawn on the waterfront before Fanfest registration. I might not be.) |

I'm Australian, I'll be there. My partner and I are going to the charity dinner that night, but during the day there should be stuff to do, even if it's a boy's visit to the phallus museum while the girls go shopping in downtown Reykjavik.

Lets all dress up & march down whatever the main road through Reykjavik is for a couple of hours. I propose we commence the march at 1000, pausing for the two minute silence at 1100 & finish up at around 1200. Can anyone play Last Post on a trumpet?
Failing that, I guess we could just get drunk in true Australian fashion.
Edit: Or the willy museum sounds ok I guess.
Apparently booking your flight & accomodation to Iceland BEFORE you buy the tickets for the convention which is pretty much the only reason you wanted to go there in the first place is popular. |

Hi folks. I'm Australian and I know of a few others here in Iceland.
ANZAC day this year coincides with an Icelandic public holiday (first day of summer), so there should be plenty happening in and around the town.
We are going to organize something down town in a bar or similar and I will post details here as soon as I know more :)

Location confirmed - "No Name Bar" (Formerly known as Icelandic Bar) from 1700 onwards on the 25th. It is a pretty popular place with CCP and Fanfest people anyway, so there should be plenty of people around :)
The bar is located at P+¦sth+¦sstr+ªti 9, next door to Hotel Borg. It is about a 5 min walk from the Fanfest venue and often filled with CCP and Fanfest people in the evenings.

I also know of three other Australians (Dark Razer, Bam Stoker, Sir Substance) who are also attending Fanfest this year. I will let them know about the ANZAC Day Iceland meetup.
Will be good to catch up with you again this year Mindstar!

I have made the epic journey from Melbourne to Reykjavik this year.
Last night while feeling a bit jetlagged I checked out the nameless bar with CCP Mindstar, who shouted myself a burger... mmm tasty burger
Anyway the bar is pretty chill with a nice little park across the road, also to top things off I bought a TwoUp kit from Home with me :)
I wonder if the local police have Divvy Vans... |
