At the moment missiles are over nerfed making the missile boats an endangered species. Please devs, un-nerf them a little, it's only a small thing to ask.

Agreed. Missles are okay for people with 5 bajillion SP and $100 million in implants who have everything to 5 just because they can, but everyone else is sort of getting it in the shorts.
Quite frankly other than the Torps vs frigs issue missles were good the way they were as they gave people without a lot of skills a chance against the vets. We seem to be heading more and more to a highest-SP-wins scenario which wont turn out well for anyone. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

Are you on *****? It will turn out well for the vets...which it should! They have more time training to kill, then of course they should win out. This whole issue is really stupid. As it stands, two players who each have half the skill points of a veteran, will kill the veteran nearly every single time.
Veterans are supposed to be better, it is a reward for investing more time into your character than Joe Blow who just started playing 2 weeks ago. It would be completely unbalanced if it were otherwise, and the missile patch has only helped the game by making it more balanced. Missiles still have the advantage of consistent damage against their targets. Torpedoes are even more effective against battleship targets with the new skills trained up for maybe 2 or 3 weeks. That is not much to ask for at all...Stop complaining. As someone who has fought with and against both turrets and missiles, this is way over due and it is a great change. It will stay I am sure...maybe slight tweaking but thats it.

No, you are now in the position that turret users are in.
Shows how uber you were.
Learn skills like everyone else had to. The days of you punching out of your weightclass are over.

Its the torps and cruise that suffered the most, i want to see @ a 50-75 increase in torp/ cruise damage as only doing 25 points a torp on a merc wingamn is taking the **** a bit more so seeming its webbed! I would also like to see my torps hitting a bs for @ 500 points on the shield as they struggle to do more than 250 post patch and thats now me with all the new skills at lvl4.

signed, i agree with the orginal poster.
And I agree with the statement that some turrets do have this problem. Which I think should be changed as well.

p.s. no point in flying a missle ship one one hac can tank you and destroy a b.s.

Turret users have far better refire rates than missiles, turret users have implants that will give bonus's, turret users have the advantage of T2 weapons upgrade modules, turret users also have the advantage of increase damage as well as refire rates from specialisation skills. Missile users do not get any of the above! all the specialist skill only increase our refire rates, our launchers never got revamped just gimped, before you jump on any bandwagon your turrets have a damage modifier against your ammo and you can increase that with skills and modules, missiles have bcms but thats it the only diference in our launchers is refire rates and cpu/ grid demand. We at no point get a increase in velocity or damage!
Please now explain how that puts us in the same boat? also work out the damage out put of a large howi, rail or tayc and then look at your refire rates then tell me how that is equal to what a seige launcher does and the DoT are on par? i dont think so! I am all for missile revamp, i agree it needed to be made harder but now when you get to the top of the hill to find out your no better off than at the bottom thats a bit wrong. No other weapon have a found is in the same situation!

LoL look at this characters birthday before you start talking about punching out of your weight class. For your information I don't fly a missile boat but I'm not so childish as to want them nerfed out of the game because a few whiners can't get their heads around missile DEFENCE.
Missiles were fine, maybe needed a small adjustment but not this huge nerf that has all but made them useless for the majority of users.

I've given up on Caldari ships, and I've moved to Amarr ships insted. Already, with a rather pitiful 1m SP in gunnery, I'm FAR outdamaging my missiles; not just with lucky wrecking shots, but consistantly.
Missile nerf? Time to change to this months flavour...

/me agrees with this person
missiles do not need a uberboost, STFU torps an cruise missiles do great dmg vs cruisers and BSs... as a victim of torp and cruise missile attacks i can confirm this!
btw- it would help if you stopped using explosive dmg missiles on shields and EM dmg missiles on armor _____________________________ NPC Asteroid Belt Bases Honor Above Self Glory For Self Strenght Of Self

as a two year old, 32 million SP player, I don't mind training the skills at all. What I do mind is getting them all to level 5 to find that they don't make enough of a difference to make missiles a viable weapon system against anything else.
No, you're right, I don't have them to level 5 yet. I have them all to level 4, which means I have seen 80% of the available improvement. It doesn't take Einstein to figure out that the remaining 20% is not going to make enough of a difference. ========================================= * I'm ALLOWED to cheat. I'm shamelessly bumping this thread, as it is the most concise one for a missile change I've seen. It doesn't ask for a return to how things were, and it points out the advantages that turrets now have (more modules, whole range of implants).
Actually, the introduction of modules and implants (if they are made effectively) could be enough to balance out the new missiles without changing the damage equations. ========================================= * I'm ALLOWED to cheat. I'm a STARSHIP. * ========================================= |
