There is sooo much humor in this thread...
For those that suggest "warp at a distance"..... read up on bubble mechanics.....
At the OP.... Make a tac on grid of the POS.... and monitor it while cloaked.... If they light a cyno, align and wait for something juicy to come through.... you can typically make a 500km warp to the cyno and tackle a JF before it enters warp.... although it will be close if the cyno also webs the freighter into warp (in which case your suicide dictors wouldn't have succeeded anyway!)

FDIC Agent wrote: Effectively creating a trap that can not be countered.
Actually, the counter to this is EXTREMELY easy: Fly a fairly fast moving ship. Even a fully faction fit deathstar pos has significant limitations. First off, slow locking speed, and second, the damage isn't all that much to start off with. You warp in, theres a bubble that sucks you in and decloaks you: Big. F'ing. Deal. You turn around, you move the 500m out of the bubble, and you warp off. ANY, and I mean ANY sub capital ship in the game, (yes, the orca, and freighters, are capital ships. By CCP's definition. Login and check on market if you disagree.) can easily warp back out before the pos can point you. Something like a stealth bomber, buzzard, even cloaky tengu will easily be able to do so before even faction small guns can lock and shoot you.
Basically what I'm seeing here, is a player complaining that their utter lack of competence, or ability to fly their ship out of the edge of a sling bubble, is getting them killed. The only nerf that needs to happen is to FDIC being able to post on the forums. If you don't know BASIC ship piloting, Don't warp to cynos. End of story.

FDIC Agent wrote:For those of you who don't know, squirrel fishing is using a cyno and a sling bubble to trap pilots who go to investigate the situation. What is becoming alarmingly out of control is using this next to a deathstar pos with hundreds of abandoned drones at the edge of the sling bubble. So if being dragged through the pos shield wasnt enough, the drones will decloak you. Effectively creating a trap that can not be countered. What makes things even worse is they use this very pos as a midpoint for their jump freighters.
So, in order to stop their effort free logistics we warp cyno dictors to the cynos to catch the jump freighters only to find out it is nothing but that stupid bait cyno. Another issue is they runs the bait cyno for hours and hours, day after day. So much that eventually no one bothers to check it out anymore. So their jump freighters are even more safe because everyone assumes the cyno for the jump freighter is bait.
Something needs to be done.
counter?
don't warp to random cynos.
they're not doing anything wrong, just supplying empirical evidence to support Darwin.

Couldn't you... you know.... see that the cyno was right next to a moon? which, you know... might have a POS? Couldn't you, you know, D scan that moon first?
Oh, you're afraid your target may get away if you wait... welll they've put a lot of time and resources into this (setting up the POS). Its only fair that you could do the same and take down the POS and deny them that haven while making jumps.
By the way, can't you travel very safely in nul sec by lighting cynos directly on top of NPC stations -> ie, undock, jump to 0 on another station, redock? SO even without the POSs, you're still not likely to catch them in low... and especially in null, you know they're using the local intel tool, so lighting a cyno when someone is in system should be obviously a tarp. |

FDIC Agent wrote:Here is the point all of you keep missing. If we don't warp directly to the cyno, we will miss tackling the jump freighter. Even if we warp to a planet or safe spot near the cyno to make sure it is not a trap, by the time we find out it IS the jump freighter and then warp to the cyno, it will have safely warped off into the shield. We tried to use a nullified cloaking tech 3 ship to investigate, but that guy decided to take matters into his own hand and try and snipe the bait ship. Unfortunately, he lost the Tengu to the POS before his missiles hit the bait cyno ship. The only course of action that we could do to put a stop to this was reinforce the tower and later kill it completely after it comes out of reinforce mode. As bad luck would have it the guy who was going to light a cyno for our dreads was pulled into the bubble trap. So he rage logged off and logged off his Phoenix dread alts. So we no longer had enough firepower and could not attack it. The point of all this is it is a 100% risk free setup for logistics and 100% killer of investigators. It should not be possible to do this.
I thought your original post was good, but this is getting better and better. Please do continue.

So why were bubbles allowed to pull ships?
I mean I understand stopping warp but why the pull?
Also if the drones and POS kept grid load to lag levels petition OP, that is no kosher. If on the other hand you stayed until you were popped, hahaha stop feeding! |

Because they'd be pointless otherwise.
Apparently booking your flight & accomodation to Iceland BEFORE you buy the tickets for the convention which is pretty much the only reason you wanted to go there in the first place is popular. |

I mean when is Greyscale going to attack the dual use of bubbles? Are you guys ready for that? (seriously be ready it is exactly the thing he will do next)
Though I would like it bubbles had a warp strength of 1 so they can be gotten out of with wcs. |

I dont like it when missiles hit my ship. maybe CCP should remove them from the game or give me a module that allows the missiles to pass through my ship and hit yours.
Bubbles are great and are not a problem. They are working as intended and changing them to allow people to warp out of them would defeat the purpose of them.
ie.
Oh **** my Titan/Supercarrier is tackled. Oh wait, I can just warp away because these bubbles are not doing anything.
as for pulling or stopping you, working as intended.
if you dont like bubbles, move to low sec or empire. |

if you dont like bubbles, move to low sec or empire. Actually making permanent bubbles into drag while interdictors prevent warp 1 & 3 strength respectively would give reason for variety. Also I already do stay in hi and low due to my dislike. And why do bubbles work on supers when only hictors will normally? |
