Ok I wanna start a thread on all the cruiser setups that people such as myself would bother to fit on cruisers. Cruisers only please. They can be any tech 1 ship but the must atleast have a 1600mm plate and if possible an Armor repairer. It doesn't have to be a "great" setup or l337 just serve some purpose no matter how mundane it is. Assume the highest possible skill training if need be but it must fit with skills.
I will go first:
Osprey --------- 3 Light Ion IIs, 1 rocket launcher Y-S8 AB, WEB, 2 cap chargers 1600mm Nano, small armor repairer II, 1 Hardner
-------------------- The Nest

Caracal: 5x Assault Launcher 1x Sensor Booster 1x 20km Scrambler 2x Web 1x SAR II 1x 1600mm
Guess what it's for...
Pants have pockets -> Pockets hold wallets -> Wallets hold money -> Money is the root of all evil -> Ergo, pants are the root of all evil. |

15 x T2 Infiltrator Drones is likely worth more than the entire setup all-together.
I wonder if you could push the 250 dps of a Thorax + 8 Heavy Drones higher by getting 8 T2 heavies... --------------------------------

I tried the following Maller. 5 X Med Pulse T2 10mn AB - 2 F10b Carp rechargers
2 X 1600mm reinforced rolled (it was cheap, now T2 is cheaper) 2 RCU I Med armor rep T2 CPR I
Huh. BS armor on Cruiser and plenty of cap.

It can work the AB setup. But the MWD setup is out by 40 grid. (with Advance Weapons Upgrade 4).

Thorax setup: HIGH 5* 150mm rails. You can use any type you can afford. From 150mm normal to 150mm T2. I prefer compressed because of their damage/price ratio. Antimatter ammo 4TW. Although you cold find yourself low on cap in extanded battles. Then fit some other ammo that eats less cap but personally i prefer max damage and run away when (if ever) cap is drained
MEDIUM 1* AB II 2* Cap rechargers. Parallel fixed link (16.5%) and/or better is highly advisable. But they have very good quality/price ratio. But on a cruiser a cap recharger T1 thta gives 15% recharge time decrease isnt that bad at all and it costs under 100k. Your choice on the rechargers..
LOW 1600mm armor plate. 3* Energized adaptive nano T2 1* Medium armor repairer T2
I think you can even fit a T2 steel plate. I have T1 steel plate and it nets me to 4312 armor ( MEgathron with max skills has 5000 and some armor)
DRONEBAY 8 Berserkers
I use berserkers because rats have mostly 10% or 20% resist to explosive damage on armor and those babies eat through 50k cruisers in 2 minutes or less.
Plus, you now do 3 types of damage and even HAC have a big hole gaping in their armor resist on explosive type

Edited by: Franky B on 07/08/2005 12:07:36 Edited by: Franky B on 07/08/2005 12:05:41 Standard platerax setup here
5x T2 Light neutrons / 5x T2 150mm Railguns 1 MWD, 1 web, 1 Scram 1 1600 rolled tungsten, 2 hardeners, 1 relay, 1 T2 armor rep 4x ogres, 4x wasps / 4x preators, 4x beserkers (whatever suits really)
gets me 5400hp armor, and with cruiser lvl 5 :p cap from the MWD aint an issue hehe
though before I discovered plates, I use to run
4x T2 neutrons 1x med nosferatu 1 MWD, 1 webber, 1 T2 med cap battery (with charges) 1 T2 armor rep (med), 2 hardeners, 2 relays.
cap lasts forever hehe
-- PS: when it comes to range and AF fighting... the only way I wont be in range of an AF is if they fit a MWD, and if they're fitting an MWD, then they're fitting to get up close :p

Edited by: Orvas Dren on 07/08/2005 13:38:55 Everyone using an AB II, look at the stats...
It has 5 seconds faster activation and 20 (I think I remember 20) more energy per use than a YS-8. Is all that really worth the extra 3% speed you get out of it?
I have used the AB II and had cap problems, where the YS-8 would run much longer.
Good setups, and I think I can speak for Kay when I say, keep em coming. We love talking about these setups.
P.S. I use that setup for the more difficult LVL 3 missions. I use an Enyo for most though. Should try it, its exhilirating doing missions of that lvl in something slightly larger than a Heavy Drone... :) --------------------------------
