Okay this is getting pretty ridiculous... I'm running level 2 missions.... in a drake.
My fit:
http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/57120-Drake-Cheap-Low-skill-PvE.html
So I run these level 2's.... and for some reason I end up warping out... 3 times cause I'm down to structure...
Like WTF?
I need explanations. |

Are you swapping out resist mods for the missions? Are you using the right missiles against your foe type? What are your skills like can you get into the Drake at bare skill level or do you have at least Basic Level of Core Competency? Do you move or just sit there and take it? Using any drones? |

You might have the wrong shield hardeners in, if your figthing drones for instance you will want more EM resists than Kinetic. It important to look up the mission in http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=HomePage and make sure you are fitting the right hardeners for the rat types your going up against. I only have 1.6m skill points so I'm training up Shield Operation to increase shield recharge. Maybe that will help me tank more.
I'm fighting Mercenaries. What Resist mods/ammo should I use against them?

Bookmark and use the Eve Survival link in the last post. That will tell you what shield hardeners to use and what ammo type. At 1.6m skill points (and this is without knowing what you have trained) my guess is that you are low on skills, so your recharge rate on your passive shield Drake is too low (look to get to about 60 and that will server you ok for level 3 missions).
Also, look at the certificate planner and make sure you have Core Competency-Basic completed and then work towards Core Comp - Standard. Focus on the shield and missile skills.

Thermal / Exp is a guess. without knowing the exact mission I just perused the missions index and i see the first two level 2 missions against Mercenaries shows they are weak against Thermal attacks and that they will use Thermal/Exposive against you.
Change out the kinetics for 2 thermals and an explosive. You might try Inferno Missles as they do more Thermal damage, but the built in bonuses on a drake should make Scourge the best bet, usually giving as much as 100 more dps. Oh yeah one more thing, your skills might be making you orbit to close, ideally with a Heavy Missile boat you want to be out orbiting (kiting) past 30km or more (thinking of your possible skills) right click on your missle launcher and see what you range is, then adjust your orbit to be just inside of that range.
Hopefully it's not 15km. Reason and logic never wins over Stubborn and Convinced-á (But-áI still try..) |

heavy missiles do reduced damage to the cruisers and frigates you're likely to be facing in level 2 missions.
get a caracal and it will be a lot easier. |

I do have to wonder what mission is giving you problems. Recon 1/3 is a good example of a mission in which you're not necessarily supposed to kill the bad guys. There are probably a few others. Seriously though, you might want to consider flying a cruiser or destroyer instead of a battlecruiser if your skills are not up to the task (pretty clearly indicated by the challenges you're having completing L2s in a Drake). Get in a Caracal or a Moa, you may do better. Moas can still field a decent sniper fit for PvE. Lighting a cyno to my ladyparts, jump on in! |

100% agree. And use invulnerability fields too. Skill priorities should be shield operation and management to 4, tactical shield manip to 4 (t2 invulns/hardeners just make a huge difference), and your battlecruiser skill to 4. Offensively, missile skills, missile skills, missile skills, drone skills. |

Get out at range in the first place with low skillpoints. Range (and speed) is part of your tank at low skillpoints. Especially if you wasted lots of skillpoints in order to get into a drake early.
It sure sucks, because the drake is a terrible slowboat. So if you cannot stand that anymore, get into a Caracal fitted with rapid light missile launchers (and an afterburner) and do stuff at 30. It probably will also be easier to fit, since it's unlikely, that you are able to fit that drake properly yet.

You're using a meta 2 shield power relay, use the meta 4. Using a second shield power relay will make a very large difference in your tank, along with using the correct shield hardeners.

I think we're all trying to talk him down from flying a Drake and trying a Cruiser appropriate to do L2s. With Rapid Light Missile Launchers, he'll have no need for a TP or Rigors. Lighting a cyno to my ladyparts, jump on in! |

This game takes ALOT of research to do well at it.
I was in the same boat in that lvl 2 combat missions were taking a stupid amount of time in my catalyst....there are so many little things that have major impacts.
Once I researched the fit, -> went to this site ; http://eve.battleclinic.com and picked a fit that was recommended. I realized that just keeping close to cap stable for 2-3 minutes was more than enough.
Just making a general fit for damage resist (30-40 for all armor), and runnning a Dam Control mod and armor repair was enough for almost anything. For Dagan, I had to swap to 8 blasters and toast him at close range though...I usually mount 6 small rails and 2 salv.

Also:
Lvl 1: frig or destroyers (recommend faction frig Hookbill)
lvl 2: Cruiser recommend Caracal or Thorax
lvl 3: Battlecruiser (Drake)
lvl 4: Battlecruiser/Battleship/Tengu
lvl 5: flock of drakes? gaggle? flight? murder? unkindness? herd?

Small addendum to the chart, when you get your skills up if you are in a tengu or a drake... you fire Kinetic at anything you don't fire EM at. Where's the promised loot drops for Rogue Drones? -á-á --DeMichael Crimson

Sounds like you've spread your SP too thin. 1.6 million, and your already flying different races cruisers/BCs with different weapon systems. You're going to be bad in all of them.
Pick a ship (the RLML caracal mentioned earlier should be a beast in frig heavy lvl2s), train the related weapon/ship/tank skills and supports up - 4 is a good aim but 3 should be fine for lvl2s and should take very little time - and you'll fly through them.
Check the certificates for your weapon of choice's related support skills as well, if you can afford a drake you can afford all of them no problem, and the early lvls take so little time in the long run that they're almost free.
Specialize, and be patient. |

The Battleclinic fit says the guy has 4.5mil in SP (1.2 in indstry). Meaning he has twice as many skill points as the OP does. That is why it is failing. He trained for the ship, but doesn't have the support skill trained adequately. |

Best advice I can give: Join a corp that can help you with these things. Ask them for a proper fit and they should provide you with one. Don't tackle eve alone, while it can be done it is unnecessarily hard and much less fun. |

^ This. EVE is not noob friendly. You need to be around people you can use as a knowledge resource. The forums will get you good info most of the time, but they're also filled with trolls. My best suggestion is to use the People and Places function under your character portrait to search for "Eve University". They'll get you sorted. Alternatively, add me in-game and I can answer any Caldari mission running questions you have. |
