I would like to see the cloak icon on the HUD changed so it is more clear if cloak activates or not. There used to be a bug for a couple days where the activation timre showed up as a full circle around the cloak when active. This only would already be enough to make it more visable.

I've got a great idea to go with this: Make it go translucent and slowly disappear, then you know it's activated because you can't see it. You could even make a mini-game out of it and randomly place it somewhere on your screen so you have to search for it and find it to turn it off.
j/k..umm.. I think it's probably fine as is, but that's just my opinion of course. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

dear sir...
i appreciate your comment, however i have a good reason for asking this. I am visually impaired and have 2% vision. I play eve mostly from my overview, and the HUD. I can't look at my ship in space to see if it cloaks or not.
Do you think I would ask such a question if I could use my eyes like every other person in this game? |

Approving of this as my "night" vision is slightly impaired. Dark ship on dark space is very hard to see for me either cloaked or un-cloaked. |

My vision is 20/1400...I have glasses, I'm legally blind...I'm visually impaired as well... I have no problems with telling if I'm cloaked or not.
What you should instead is save your money to get glasses mate. Mine cost 200 dollars per lens. |

no matter how many glasses they put on my nose or whatever surgery you plan to propose in your future replies , i won't be able to figure out if i'm cloaked or not unless i put my nose on the screen. This is a FACT. .. nothing to do about it,TOTALLY NOTHING... trust me, if there was a solution to my problem, I would've tried it. Unfortunately I don't live in the future.
Apparently EVE is full of emotionless ..... (fill in whatever you please)
Or do I have to send you my medical files?

That will be because anyone with visions problems must all have the same problem so all require the same solution? Where you born a moron or is it a talent you nutured once you developed vision issues?
I have on the other hand have no vision problems but do not see a reason why this bug (unintended feature Godsmistress eluded to in his original post) could not be a perm fixture of the HUD or at least an option to help the small minority of players who may be affected by this. CCP managed to fix it once so they should know why it went wrong and simply reverse it.

Please do, I'll send you a email address that I use for job related items so I will get it right away and can read it. I request that you scan it in a PDF format please, you may blot out your name, SSN, and any other truly personal information.

Short of total blindness almost ALL vision can be corrected in someway or another. astigmatism can be corrected with glasses presbyopia, but it can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. In some cases, adding bifocals to an existing lens prescription is enough Cataract: Can be corrected with surgery Glaucoma: can be cured with Laser therapy Blindness: Currently a practical cure is not known, but how can you play a game blind?
If I'm emotionless cause I'm practical and giving you a suggestion that maybe you should focus on your eye problem instead, and not playing a game so be it. |

OK, i'll clear this up for you: my illness is called Retinitus Pigmentosa, combined with cataract, shortsightedness, limited night vision. I have glasses, they cost about 1000 Gé¼ and have a special contrast filter build inside. I use an extra large screen with special software to read text, which unfortunately is not working under EVE. It would probably even break the EULA if it did.
There is at this moment no cure for my illness, and trust me, i have looked for it. So did the people at the university where i visit my eye-doctor. Stem cell therapy is still a long way in the future.
Apart from insulting me, you insult my eye-doctor because apparently you have more experience in dealing with eye-problems than someone who has been doing it as a professional for 35 years.
I'm sorry, you try to act knowledgable, but in fact you know nothing about life.
I simply suggest a change which would make my playing experience better in eve without affecting the game play. If you can't just support someone who has this problem already for over 30 years and has to learn to deal with decreasing eyesight every year of his life, then I feel pitty for you. Please read up on Retinitus Pigmentosa, and you'll know there's no cure. The only thing that works is changing the world around you where possible with tools. Changing the icon on the HUD is one of these tools.

The request, as stated by the OP, is not unreasonable.
Having a simple means of determining whether the cloak is active can also help in other ways, that being the problem we encounter with this being a toggle type control. We encounter lag issues where we intend to turn it on or off, but end up telling it to change state by accident.
Have the off and on for the cloak as separate icons, with the ability to click it's other half as the way to change to that state.
(Example: The top button only turns it on, and is visibly lit green / red / whatever when active. The bottom button only turns it off)
This should accomplish both goals, and grant more ease of play to all affected.
Cloaking being on a ten minute manual cycle timer? (Author: Bree Okanata) Fine. As long as there is a ten minute timer for being docked in a station. Also, you can't stop moving in the game. Just add in a way so every ten minutes you are randomly warped to the nearest other player. Keeps people from going AFK. |
