anything lower than 30% is classed as 'unclassified' aka U
Bear in mind, however, that how many marks will be given to a particular standard of paper, depends on how many people would pass with it. To put it bluntly, the examining boards cheat; they are basically required, under the terms of their licences, to do so. If not enough people are going to pass, that is evidence that the exams were too hard, so everyone is granted additional marks to compensate.
Don't think that's true pal, atleast not for the majority of exam boards in the UK. What they will do is adjust the "Grade Boundries" i.e. how many marks you need for an A, B, or C etc. depending on the difficulty of the paper(s) and how people did, but I doubt they "give you additional marks".

Physics-A Maths-A Further Maths-A History-A
(for A2)
In terms of grade boundaries, they just move the goal posts, not give you more marks. The exception being maths modules, where they fiddle the figures so the standard deviation and mean is the same each year (I think-definately not grade boundries).
As such you can get 100% even if you didn't get everything right.
However those who think A levels are easy these days should try taking some..
Oh and kudos to your sig Snaieke...

thats how it is, but it varies slightly, thats how the wjec are anyway, they will adjust the boundries, if lots of ppl get gwd grades, they'll put it up abit, if lots of pppl do crap, they they'll lowe it a bit
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception
