hallo,
i didn`t quite know weather to post it in ships or skill forum section, but as i`m new and maybe someone else is wondering aobut it, i decided to post it in the here.
ok, here`s the story: i`m minmatar race, currently running lvl 2 missions in my rupture. in a few days time ill have the standing to do the lvl 3 kill missions.
i was told that a battlecruiser is a good ship to run them (lvl 3 missions) if i am a new player (should be safe enough)
so as i`m minmatar, i`m thinking of running these lvl 3 missions in a cyclone. noe i was told to advence to the next ship when i have decent skills for it :) so here i am, wondering what would be these deent skills for the cyclone ?
`im conserned about few things here:
armor of shield tanking ? (as the ship has 4 med and 4 low slots)
and ofcourse about what guns to use.
but this is only that conserns the modules and guns to fit. what else i`m wondering aobut, what secondary skills do i need to run the lvl 3 mission fairly safe in the cyclone ?
any healp and info would br greatly appretiated.
thanks :)

Tough one. erm,
This is a good npc setup, and train according to it:
high: 5x 420mm guns 3x assault missile launchers
meds: 2 x npc-specific shield hardners 1 x Cap recharger (+15% if possible) 1 x medium shield booster (named or Tech2 if possible)
Watch out with the medium shield booster, try a large shieldbooster if u're getting too much damage, but you'll have a rough time fitting it all without proper skills.
lows: 4 x power diagnostic units (Tech 2?)
Not only for the extra powergrid it provides you with, it's also good for cap recharging issues.
N.B. Where possible go for named items because they use less cpu and powergrid wich is allways usefull for a new player. T2 on the otherhand uses much more pg&cpu then T1's.
Skills u won't find in the requirement tabs of these items, but a must have are:
- Weapon ugrades 4 or 5 - engineering 5 - electronics 5 - energy management 4 or 5 - energy systems operation 4 or 5

Lvl 3s are good for battlecruisers, aslong as u got good capacitor skills you should be able to hold tank, cap rechargers 15% or above should allow u to tank without loosing cap, its all about the skills!

You could also go with a interceptor...their cheaper and can get the job done faster. >^<>^<>^<>^<>^<>^<>^<>^<<

You really have to know what you're doing with a ceptor if you want to do L3 missions in one. I'd suggest starting out with a BC as they're more forgiving when you make mistakes, since they're tougher.

HAC would be good, but I doubt he has skills/cash to fly one.
Cyclone with 650 scouts, hvy malkuth launchers, passive shield, active armor tank. Gives max punch combined with max defense in my opinion.
You dont want to fight angels at close range also at drones hammerheads prefered.

the posted setup might be abit tough and expensive (the pdu II's alone add up to 15+ million isk, let alone the ship itself at 30 odd million or so).
A cyclone shield tanks indeed, two hardeners, medium booster and probably one cap recharger or an afterburner, should suffice.
I'd use those in meds with combination of 650mm or 720mm howitzers in the highslots asprimary long range weaponry. You can be effective from far out of the NPC's turret range with those.
Other weaponry would be launchers for shorter range with which you can kill frigate npc's that come close. Any launchers, even rocket launchers, will do that fine. So if assault launchers dont fit, try standard launchers or rocket launchers.
In the lowslots you need to fit what you need to make the rest fit. The empty slots you are left with might be filled with damage mods (girostabilisers) or power diagnostic systems.

i lost my cyclone with 5 720mm scouts and 3 arablast assault launchers last night on my second level 3 mission. it was a deadspace called 'the spy stash'
stay away from this one, as the second level hits you with several heavy missile silos, many 150k cruisers with heavy missiles, and warp scrambling inties that are on top of you as you warp in.
worst part was that all my guns were destroyed with the ship, so i've given up on agent missions for now.

I lost my ferox on this mission. I am pretty ****ed off and sick of the **** for a while. It was my first level 3. Took me a few hours to kill all the gate guards. I was doing ok until I warped in and was scrambled. I had a good setup but couldn't outlast their missiles.

hmm, thanks for the info :)
some ingame mates suggested that i should go for a bs instrad of a battlectuiser fro the lvl 3 missions. (typhoon) what do you guys thing about that idea?
would it be much safer to do lvl 3 missions in a typhoon then a cyclone?

I would agree with that. I run them in a raven and never even need to pay attention to my shields. But I have had a friend join me in a BC and get taken out even though I was cutting through them. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

Do them with someone who's company you enjoy. Or more than one someone. It will be more fun, it will go faster, be safer, and you can work on fighting together.
