I lost 2 BS in 24 hours. Now I am broke. I started a thread about sniping megathrons. Went to snipe and got ganked by empire war enemy. Dumb ass me thought I could take down a sacrilige on my own. Hey look I cant hit **** at 2km with all my guns and my drones do negative damage to him.
Then I got ganked by Shinra trying to prop up my wallet. Props to your jamming gank squad, guys. Pop goes the raven. At least this one was all tech I stuff.
Now I am in a mega again trying to once again get the wallet problem figured out. I am hunting Guristas out in 0.0 and need some help with the set up. This is what I have now, and it seems like I am doing something wrong. The damage is just not enough.
7x 425 T2 (Plutonium). 1x L SB (for the inties) 4x cap recahrgers (named) 2x PDU, 1x L armor rep T2. 2x hardeners. 2x relays 8 heavy drones
I think my armor tank is not enough. I should get another hardener, but there is just not enough grid. I have not tried this out much yet due to RL issues. It seems taht cap is almost fine, but tank seems weak.
I have not used a mega for NPC hunting in a while, so some strategy would be nice too.

For hardeners on the mega for gurristas go with 2 kinetic and 1 thermal, an unnamed t1 rep can tank *most spawns, not tried dread/officer with it yet. Also use antimatter ammo if you can.

The damage output on that setup is fine. Usually when npc'ing vs Guristas, you'll want 2 kinetic and 1 thermal hardener. I just use 1 large accom and that can tank the majority of spawns long enough to kill 'em. My setup is pretty much the same as yours, and it really only has issues w/ named spawns.
Depending on the spawn, I put all guns on the BS(s) and tank everything else until the frigs or cruisers are close enough to hit w/ drones(wasps[kinetic dmg]).
To pop the cruisers after running out of BSs to shoot at, 'look' at it and doubleclick space ahead of it... that'll lower its transversal to where the guns can hit it.

Problem is I cant fit another hardener. I have 1 kinetic and 1 thermal. And I am already using all the grid I can get. Should I drop the tech II 425s? If I put in another hardener, I would have tp put in another PDU, and drop both of the cap relays.

try dropping the large smartbomb, then fit the hardener etc......if you can fit a med smartbomb after that you're good to go, if not then just use wasps for the inties/cruisers.

I don't know about mega's, but in my apoc I run this tank:
2 Large TII armor reps, 2 therm n-type, 2 ken n-type, 1 cap power relay, 3 cap recharger II
That has allowed me to tank named commander gurrista spawns and solo some 6/10 complexes. Though it is overkill as I was never scared of any spawn (including the 6/10 complex) from breaking my tank.
I think the 425's are long rang weapons right? Try Neutron's. I use megapulse and a 100mn TII afterburner to get in range. Neutrons should eat through guristas with no probs as your hybrids do ken/therm (their weakness) whereas I do em/thermal. Neutrons should open up enough grid to fit everything too.

the mega setup i use for NPCing kills them just as fast as a raven can and has no issues with cap/damage
High: 7x 350mm proto guass (got alot of drops from the guristas for these) 1x arbie seige (good drops once again)
Mid: 3x cap recharger 2's 1x tracking comp 2
Low: 1x Large repper 2 3x hardners 2x relays 1x Mag Stab 2
Drone bay full of wasps
with this setup you can ditch the tracking comp and add a 4th recharger 2 and then take off a relay for a second mag stab but i like the first setup to take out cruisers and if their trans gets under 150-200 you will hit them very good (save for the close range cruisers which drones handle quite easy)

7 x Ion II (cant remember if you can fit a nos on top) 100mn AB, X5 or better web, 2 cap II's 1 large rep II, 1 medium rep II, 2-3 hardeners, cap relays
Drones
Saves time in lewting etc when you're close to the cans when they pop anyway.

That is what I was thinking. It's at 3 now. Just started training to 4 (5 days) not sure if it's worth it to take to 5. That's an awfully long time to train.

get a domi :)
Seriously: 2x kin, 1x th, 1x LAR II should be able to tank most things. And u can run that 24/7 with 3x t2 rechargers and 2x pduII. But drop smartbomb as it is no good. Most intys orbit at 7.5+ km so smartie is useless in ~80% cases.
Basicly i was using: 1x larII, 1x marII, 2x kin, 1x th, 2x pduII, ABII, 3x t2 rechargers and 7x 425mm t1. But at that time there was no adv. upgrades.
And to be honest i never liked mega for any carebear buisness.

One level of Advanced Weapon Upgrades with that setup will give you 367.5 MW extra... so going all way up to lvl.5 you'll have 735 MW more grid.
You might also want to switch to prototype gauss 425's -- you'll do a bit less damage due to specialization skill not adding to the stats, but it'll free ~740 MW of grid with your current skills, leaving you more room to play with. Extra defense can be worth the small damage reduction.

Depending on the spawns you take on, this may or may not work, but it's what I use for lvl 4 missions:
7x T2 250mm rails (yep, medium guns) w/antimatter or tungsten ammo 1x arb assault w/bloodclaws
1x webber 1x T2 painter 1x heavy cap injector (named) w/800 charges 1x cap recharger 2
2x large accom (or T2) armor repairers 4x named armor hardeners, 2 thermal, 2 kinetic 1x cap power relay
mix of heavy drones (I can control 9)
Adjust as needed, as I chose tanking ability over max firepower, and movement was not a priority. This setup does have trouble with NPCs that tank very well, though.

Another option you can try is 7x350mm II's. You can even fit 2 large rep II tank with em if you need to.
