Originally by: Drutort exactly this has been missing long long ago... this also in fleet battles would be very essential piece of intel, and now it will be IMO mandatory to have this type of intel to npc.
It's definitely missing. I'm very curious if this is on the list of things the developers are looking at, especially prior to or at the same time as these NPC changes.
Each player's statuses should be displayed, as well as in the gang interface so we can see what is currently affecting our gangmates.

My God. Is there nothing that a beginning player can do? I rat hunt because I can do it alone, and not get ganked, or blown up...i've already had to repalce my ships twice. I am getting sick sick sick of the changes to eve that are really aimed at killing off all the new players.
If the developers of this game want to attract new players, they are certainly not going to do it this way. We already have enough trouble just trying to stay alive and make isk to get ships to, oh, guess what, defend ourselves against ganking and oversized rats.
This sucks

Originally by: Wrayeth Edited by: Wrayeth on 02/09/2005 08:31:53 I have several quibbles with the proposed changes:
First, if sensor damping and jamming ships are included in spawns, bounties should be increased across the board - after all, if you get jammed up you won't be able to kill the frigs warp scrambling you or do anything about the battleships killing your tank. You basically just have to wave a sad good-bye to your ship.
It sounds like this change is being implemented to FORCE people to work in gangs while rat hunting in 0.0. I, for one, can say this would be cause for account cancellation - I do not enjoy hunting with others; I make my money solo because you're less likely to lose a ship due to gangmate stupidity; it also takes longer to coordinate a hunt with multiple people. Moreover, if you have no corpmates online to hunt with, you end up being unable to make money and, if there are no hostiles about to shoot at or you can't afford to lose a ship at the time, won't have anything to do once you log in.
It has been said that EVE is supposed to have enough content for both the solo and the group player, but if the solo content reverts to mining and trading only, then I'm afraid my subscription will be cancelled.
Again, I make my money solo and have no interest in ganging up with other players while rat hunting. It's PvP where the fun in grouping comes in - and I can't do that without the ability to make money to cover losses.
My second quibble with this post is the introduction of NPC HACs. With the current nerfed state of torpedos vs. cruisers (a ship they should utterly destroy - battleships' role is to destroy cruisers and battleships), a raven will be utterly unable to break an NPC HACs tank, while the other races' turret battleships should have little problem. Caldari already have enough issues, don't add this to them.
so now, who is the whiner?
adapt and survive. fof cruise missiles and drones. 4tw. --------------------------

addressing the soloists and the newbie a) no doubnt these will be level 4 and 0.0 rats b) join a corp alligned with the ISS alliance - that way u can get access to the few 0.0 systems these guys have access to for mining etc. Go NPCing in these same systems. c) in empire and low sec the rats wont change much except these new ones might be very very rare spawns in 0.1 systems. d) no doubt basic skills will be sped up even more training wsie - im noticing implants +1 and +2 are being dropped on storyline missions and much lower LP meaning that u should have a benefit there by fitting them.
Im hoping to get these new rats onto SISI long before kali comes in so we can practice on em and provide some feedback (think i will be spending a bit more time testing instead of playing)

theres a huge amount of whining about "omg i'm a new player and the uber leet target jamming mega rats and going to pwonzor my rookie ship" but I'm a believer that ccp will not introduce these effects in low level agent missions.
It would not surprise me if small crusers seen on lvl 2's stat remote tanking and the large crusers seen in lvl 3's start jamming etc so new players need not worry about these new rat effects.

i think it will be limited to asteroid belts - those log spawns at some planets and complexes. Might see it on some low level missions but as long as they lower the time it takes to get some basic skill requirements so newbies can get stuff like small NOS etc quicker would offset it.

I think these changes are going to apply mainly in the rat belts, since you can easily add them to a set of data tables then run the same NPC generation algorhythm all over the same galaxy. They're not, and I don't think they would go in and revise every NPC table in every mission and deadspace complex for this. But it would be interesting to see if they do.

i think, these changes aren't so time expensive if they had a good database-design. u don't need to add 'tables' for new npc-types or change many ones for new attributes like nossing/ecm. if using a 'master' for all NPC ... just add new rows/colums, and that works galaxy-wide. with a correct reference to a 'loot-table', it can't happen, that a frig dropps siege-launcher and a battleship a basic cap :-)

since the patch i havent seen half as many npc's you could count on quite a few lower strength rats to kill for loot, now hardly any...eve is becoming very boring at least that could be a distraction from mining
