Im asking because I haven't played much even though my acct is somewhat old for such a silly question. Anyways the reason is my buddy accepted a duel by mistake in highsec and got destroyed by a dude and another guy. I always thought a duel was a 1 v 1 thing but apparently not. Anyone care to tell me the rules or how it works please? |

Dueling Devblog
Duels create limited engagements between the player who issues the duel and the player who accepts. It is a 1v1.
It is possible to accept multiple duel requests, which would mean you have multiple 1v1 going on at the same time. |

Which could end up becoming 1 vs Many.

Just remember, while a duel creates a limited engagement between you and another pilot, it does nothing to prevent other people from engaging in shenanigans during your duel. Keep that in mind.
And yes, you can lose your ship during a duel Yes, your pod too! Don't worry miners, I'm here to help! |

I shall give an example of a duel:
Player A insults space honor of Player B. Player B challenges Player A to duel, Player A accepts!!!
Both are now in a Limited Engagement with each other (flashy blue), and regular Crimewatch rules apply.
So, Player A begins to lose, and calls upon his evil friends to remote repair him.
They do so, and they promptly become Suspect (flashy yellow).
Player B, suspecting that Player A might be an honorless space dog, or even a TESTie, whistles for help and has several of his friends/alts/8-year old offspring show up in Tengu's and proceed to blow up the Evil Flashy Yellow Remote Repping Buddies of Player A.
Player A attempts to evade just retribution by the classic Loggoffski Manuever, but Player A forgot that no longer works, he is under a timer due to being in combat!!!
Player A dies in a fire, his wreck is looted, and his pod is popped. Player B cackles in truimph and scoops up Player A's frozen corpse for an undisclosed reason, probably having to do with Player B's known perverse dietary and sexual habits.
Player A comes to the C&P topic and rages, tears are harvested.
I hope this simple and easy explanation was of use to you and the community-at-large, Space Brosef.

Dueling is simply the latest fad for ganking the new and the foolish. It is a FUBAR mechanic. Turn it off - hit ESC and go find the option to automatically reject all duels. |

Glad I always looked at the ships proposing the duel before I considered accepting. Of course they were all 3 times my size. A fair duel would be a good opportunity to learn something. |
