So... I am still relatively new to this game, have recently acquired an Armageddon, and have been flying level 3 missions in it (overkill, I know...)
I have been toying with a couple of NPC builds and was wondering what the consensus was on the named tracking computers. There seem to be 2 types: one for low slots and one for high slots.
My thinking it that since I prefer Mega Pulse with multispecs, the extra tracking and range bonuses could be huge. Here is the build I am playing around with:
7 Megapulse with multispec (have infra and micro if needed)
2 cap rechargers and 1 named tracking computer
2 Heat Sink IIs, 1 Kinetic armor hardner, 1 Large repairer, 1 Medium repairer, 2 cap relays, and 1 named tracking computer.
Thoughts? Would this be at all effective in PvP? Is the bonus from the tracking computer worthless since it is merely a percentage of an already abysmal tracking rate (large turrets)?
I have all my gunnery skills at level 4 and will soon begin working on tech II laser weapon skills.
Thanks for the help.

i wouldn't take that into PvP if i were you...
still, it might make a nice anti-serpentis/guristas ship.
other pirate factions i wouldn't be so happy about with just one hardener (kinetic)
and whatever happens, under NO circumstances go near angels with that setup. actually, if you do, fraps it. i could do with a cheap laugh

/agree
Angels would make you their b**** with that setup. Could probably lose the med repper and add another kinetic hardener for tanking Guristas and be just fine though. *shrug*
Quote: To bring Type-D Attenuation Signal Augmentation online requires 15.2 cpu units, but only 15.2 of the 734.4 units that your computer produces are still available.

ah.. ok.
So it sounds like the tracking computers are not as useful as having a hardner. Ok.
For Angels am I better off just dropping the tracking computer and going with an explosive hardner? I *think* they do kinetic, explosive and thermal.. is that correct?
Finally... do either of you have good solo NPC and PvP setups I could look at?
Appreciate the help.

True, the setup could use a little work, but first I would "aquire" and Apoc for missions, and the geddon for PVP. Keep the two seperate, so you never lose the source of your isk.
Secondly, the NPC Geddon could do as follows:
HIGH 7 Megapulses 1 (what ever fits - usually empty)
MID 1 Tracking Comp 1 Faction Webber (Domination is best) 1 Cap Recharger
LOW 1 Large Armor Rep. 1 Med Tech 2 Armor Rep 3 Armor Hardeners (specific to target) 1-2 Cap Relay (depends on your cap skills) 1-2 Heat Sinks (depends on how many Relays you need)
Explination: Webber - To stop enemies in their tracks at 15k. Its a 90% speed reduction, allowing you to pop most any frig/cruiser. Some BS even get super close to you. The webber keeps them in range, and keeps their TV down.
TV = Transversal Velicity... AKA - Why BS can't Hit frigs with turrets.
3 Armor hardeners - So you can face any opponent with 70(ish)% resistance to what ever he is throwing at you.
NO low slot tracking comp - Because its half as effective as a mid slot one, and takes space from armor tanking/Heat Sink/Cap relay you would rather have.
As for PVP, forget tanking, and think surviving. Drop all the armor tanking for 1-2 1600 rolled tungstan's and fill the rest with Heat Sink 2s. Same as NPC for highs and Mids, execpt replace the Cap recharger with Sensor Booster. You won't run out of cap for atleast 1-2 minutes of firing (or if your NOSed - and if they survive long enough to kill your cap, your ****ed anyway),so Cap isn't an issue. If you need to fight multiple engagements, you can throw on a Med Armor rep 2 for tween battle repairs or have a friend throw on a Remote repairer to top you off between fights.
Good Luck.

Try this setup for PVP... don't laugh at it till you have actually tried it.
7x Dual Heavy Beam II
1x Sensor Booster II 2x Traking Computer II
1x Large Armor Repairer II 2x 1600mm II 5x Heatsink II
Will give you around 600+ dps, if you drop the armor stuff 750 - 800 depending on skills.
Look at it this way. If you are sitting at a gate or warping to a gate, or jumping in on a camp... you are going to be fighting at 20 - 40km. With the dual heavy beams Multispecs will give you 40km range and can hit HACs and Ceptors.
Also its flexable. You are effective from 120km to point blank in fights.

1 Sensor booster on a geddon and fighting ceptors? Never ever. You can kill an afk ceptor pilot with that maybe. :)
