Ok, now I know all of you are gonna say.. "Get a different ship". That's great.. but what I wanna know is... is it possible to have a working sniper setup on a dommi? and if so what is range.. mods used etc...
Thanks in advance!

There probably is some sort of dominix sniper setup, but attacking from long range takes away almost everything good about the ship.

The Dom would be better utilized at long rage as an Electronic Warfare ship, thanks to it's high number of mid and low slots (Think Sensor Booster II & Target Painter).
The Dom is really suited for close range combat, where you can deploy it's horde of drones to quickly overwhelm the enemy while keeping them from escaping (like 15 Ogre II's + Medium Blasters + Webb + Scramble + Paint).
Give the 2nd suggestion a go ahead on a Drone Hive, and you'll see what a Dommie can really do! __________

Above poster has the right idea.
I hate to say it... but.... Go mine in the Domi for a bit and get a Mega for long-range.
Both ships are best up close, but for long range, only the Mega can do it right.

Large weapons on a Domi; it just right ;-) Anyway, I'd have thought something like:
hi: 6*425mm rails mid: 2*tracking computers 3*sensor boosters low: plate or Armour repper if you want, damage mods
I guess it'll fit, if not drop a damage mod to fit whatever power/cpu mod is needed.
Out of interest, taking into account the damage mod stacking penalty; what is the *practical* maximum number of damage mods, where adding more has a negligable difference?

You "guess" it will fit?

As other ppl said, you're better off getting a megathron for the job, but if you really want to snipe in a dominix, this is the setup: 6 425mm rails II 2-3 Sensor booster II, 2-3 Tracking computer II 2 RCU II, 1 PDU II (or 3 RCU I), 1 med armor rep (for between the fights), rest tracking enhancers/ magnetic field stabilisers
I made this setup once just for fun, but it should be able to work and at least you have the drones as close range defense when you have ppl close to you.

When you fit out a battleship, fit out your low and mid slots before you fill out your hi-slots with weapons. The reason you want to do this is to ensure that you have adequate defenses to protect your ship.
Here's a decent Sniperthron Setup:
Hi-Slots:
7x - 425mm Prototype Guass Railguns 1x - Tech II Cloaking Device, (or) Large NOS, (or) Smartbomb
Mid-Slots:
1x - 100MN AB II (No MWD, that increases your signature) 1x - Sensor Booster II 1x - Tracking Computer II 1x - Target Painter II
Low-Slots:
1x - Large Armor Repairer II 2x - Tracking Array II's 2x - Magnetic Field Stabilizer II's 1x - Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1x - Capacitor Power Relay
Drone Bay:
10 Bezerker II Heavy Attack Drones
This setup is good for well over 130Km in range. With good skills, it will approach 200Km.
I prefer the cloak over the nos because you can always cloak as soon as someone starts slowing down when they exit from warp near your ship.
Of course the NOS would be more helpful if a frig attempts to tackle you. Either way, it's good to keep moving so you are not a stationary target.
It's also always a good idea to try out new setup on npc's first, corpmates 2nd, and other players last. When equipped as such, it will be a sizeable loss if your ship gets destroyed. If you can have a frigate handle tackling duties for you, you'll have a much higher sucess rate with a long range setup.
In my expierence when being on the receiving end of a sniper attack from a single ship, I'm able to tank their attack to escape with no problems. Throw in a tackler, and that situation can get ugly real fast. __________

Yes, guess. I wasn't logged in to check, and I couldn't be bothered to work out the grid/CPU. Got a problem with that?

ive done this a few time and damage is quite good (because of al the mag stabs ofcourse):
6x 350 tech 1 rails 2x sensorboostertech2, 1x named target painter,2x tracking comp tech2 1x rcu tech2 and rest mag stabs tech2
damage is quite ok and in my opinion if u gi sniper u must go al the way without a tank.

7x425 Scouts or better 1x Heavy NOS
2xSensor Boost (F90/II) 2x Tracking (Optical/Orion/II) [you might need to ditch 1 Sens boost for ABIIif you dont have BMs+ some alliances in 0.0 fight with mwds in all their ships etc]
3x mag stab II 1xRCUII 1xLarge Accom rep. 2x Surprise mods [I find that at 100kms shootouts 1 BS has great problems breaking this "tank" unless of course it is Raven with 6xCruise in which case run :P]
Drones: something like 9-10 Heavies and as many lights as possible or 2 equal swarms of meds I guess. Note: This assumes Adv. weap. upgr. II eng. v electr. v
Youcould ditch the Heavy NOS for rocket/assault and that way you can squeeze another 1 mag stab II. You could also ditch my "surprise mods" and fit Med. Rep. for a total of 6 mag stabs IIs (but I wouldnt )
Personally I think that this set-up works better at around 80-90kms with Lead Ammo but off course you can use Iridium or Tungsteen much further out :) (Iron is so pathetic its sad :( )
