My account's not renewing after my first paid month due to what I see as harassment, even if it's okay by game rules. I've one friend whose sticking with it, so there's a slim chance I'll come back after everything's blown over. I've searched via eve-search.com and couldn't find an answer, so I just want to know how long my account's info will be kept while inactive?

I was inactive for 1 year and 4 months before i reactivated, they probably doesnt quarantee that long but unless they want to reuse your name they will leave it alone I think.

characters are guaranteed for 6 months, after that it's a lottery, if you want to guarantee for longer I'd suggest re-subscribing for a month after 5, don't forget to set a long skill training.

They haven't deleted one yet, but eventually they will have to.

They should let us mark accounts for deletion from the database, via the web. Simple checkbox, "Ok to delete account at next maintenance period", and maybe a warning email sent a couple days before the actual deletion event.

I just came back after a 2+ year absence. All my characters were there.
It is normally not in an MMORPG's best interest to delete the characters from their database. Keeping the characters allows them to send you those emails "Try the NEW Eve expansion! Log on from Tuesday to Friday this week and find all your characters and ships ready to go in the exciting NEW Eve!! No Fee, just log in!"

As EVE done this in the past? Never heard oa MMORPG doing this, so that would be interesting...

This is actualy very common, I know many games that have done this. Especialy when new expansions come out.
Note its normaly only free for 1 to 2 weeks, then you have to subscribe again. Mainly to get your interest back in the game.

MMOs do indeed offer old players free time. I've gotten invited back to Dark Age of Camelot so many times I've lost count. Each time, my characters were all still there. My guild, sadly was not, having all moved on themselves. Still, you can't expect them to keep all your friend for you, too :D

Everquest 2 as well. To return to original poster - I returned three weeks ago after well over a years absence. everything still in place except agent standings I think.

I just came back after being gone for a year and a half and my character was still there. Also, my inventory appeared complete (it was quite large), all ships at the right stations, etc. The corp I played for was still there although there was only one guy actively playing. |
