I know it is impossible to have a unscannable ship but I was wondering if there is a decent tengu missioning fit that is very hard or at least very annoying to scan down? I found an old tengu fit but dont know if it is worth it at all. Any advice would be appreciate it.

As being unprobable is now defunkt due to a nerf, all you can do is try and make it hard so that only an elite scanner has a chance. I will post my fit that os used when running low sec missoons and is an all t2 fit. You dont need a bling fit for low sec. |

they can just scan a wreck in your general vicinity, no need to get a lock on your actual ship.
If you want to mission in low sec I have only one piece of advice: don't do it in a border system, find one deep in low sec with little traffic. |

Excuse me, wasn't being clear enough:

I've got two piggyback questions that relate to scanning in general if not to Tengus in particular:
On my last go-around with this game, there was a penalty to scanning ships down in deadspace--I think it may have been twice as difficult. Anyway, is this mechanic still around?
Second, one of the key ways probers would find low sig ships was by scanning down the target's drones. This was extremely easy, particularly when the drones' sigs bloomed from using their MWDs. Has this been changed at all? If not, is the tactic obsolete for other reasons? (e.g., because probing for ships is so much simpler now.)

Okies, I have a few tengus setup that I use when I run in low sec, all of them T2 which helps on costs if you ever get caught. I noticed your fit can to just short of 2 billion isk, these run at the 550 million isk mark. see below for the EFT warrior details. Stats are based on my skills, yours may vary.
1st setup is my non cloaky fitted with an MWD which is only run on burst when needed to minimise your signature lighting up. Cap = Stable Tank = 527 uniform / 777 Guristas Dps = 704 Sig = 159 Grav Strength = 218

2nd setup I use is my standard T2 cloaky which gimps the DPS.
Cap = Stable Tank = 527 uniform / 777 Guristas Dps = 469 Sig = 159 Grav Strength = 192
[Tengu, low sec] Ballistic Control System II Gravimetric Backup Array II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II

Final setup is my low sec tengu with drones I use on rare occasions. With a 50m3 drone bay you can have a set of light attack drones and also a set of ecm.
Cap = Stable Tank = 527 uniform / 777 Guristas Dps = 581 / with drones Sig = 159 Grav Strength = 192

So far since the unprobable nerf I have never been caught but always have dscan spammed to be sure.
Play about with these fits and drop in faction / deadspace or officer mods to suit.

It's not. Things in deadspace are just as easy to scan as anywhere else. The advantage of not being able to warp directly to the location is still intact though; a hit will still land a prober at your gate, not right on top of you.

Drones are still incredibly easy to probe. But yeah, this doesn't apply to most Tengus, as the offensive sub that grants drones doesn't get full missile bonuses. It does contraindicate Gilas, Protei, and Ishtars under some circumstances though. |

It's still really ******* hard to probe down 'unscannable' tengus, even with Virtues, prospecter, and max skills. There is certainly no way to do it with probes outside of d-scan range. Even with narrowing down the site to within .25au's via bming and dscan, I've never gotten a tengu on the first scan cycle. If you have decent lowsec instincts and hit d-scan often, you'll easily get to see probes on scan before they get a hit, barring extreme luck on the probers part.

Only way to scan wrecks is by using directional scanner and then narrowing it down to a 5 degree scan and flying to it in a fast ship... You would have to be extremely unlucky to get caught by someone hunting you in this manner... You should have the mission completed before they arrived in their speed fit frig...... I'm just lol at the unscannable approch.
why bother scan your ship down?
instead prober can scan the site down.
1. locate the planet you run sites in. (usually within 2au of planet) 2. launch combat probe 3. scan, even if you are not 100% , your site will be 100% by just switch scan type (combat probe can also scan down site, up to 0.06% signal strength). ASFAIK, all valuable sites are 0.06 and up category except couple 0.03 radar sites.

DScan is what? 15 AU? So if the mission runner is defensively DScanning, you would have to place your probes farther away than that So your probes would need to run at at least 16AU radius
Would be nice to have some chart showing at what probe scan range you can scan down which ships, according to the Sensor strength/signature radius value. I still fly previously unscan tengu in low sec and when I see sisters on scan, i just set dscan range down to 1 AU and taunt them in local... and stay in the mission. Noone ever bother to scan down to that level afterwards :) If probes would show within one AU, THEN i would get worried
As i am also running in BS and BC, having above mentioned chart would be intersting.
But other than that, without ppl scanning for me, low sec would be like highsec - boring...

yeah but once he gets a lock on something he can just camp your gate and you're forced to find another mission which is a huge waste of time.
Best way to win a conflict in this case is avoiding it. Find a dead back pocket system with an agent and keep a low profile. |

from experience, i would say that one can scan a cruiser sized in one hit 100% of the time with 5 probes (provided he pinpointed him well with range and stuff..) at 2au with 4 au, it is around 20%
so the time the probes will be on the tgt dscan will be very quick, around 10-12s MAX, and i will be most often warping to the tgt at 9s (and this will often be a very fast warp if i'm cloacky, often 2-5 AU MAX) |

The old "unscannable" Tengus running missions are still almost unscannable to 99% of random people trying to scan them down. To a specialist they can be found but there aren't that many fully skilled and implanted scanners around. You can't scan down any objects in the mission and the Tengu won't be using drones. Using D-scan and a fast ship to locate the site is impractical.
Of course faction war missions show up as a giant "Fight me here!" beacon in space, but I don't think these are what you had in mind.
The place to catch a Tengu like that is on gates to and from their mission system. Set up a camp and hope they don't have a scout or a back way home. |

If you want to mission in low sec I have only one piece of advice: don't do it in a border system, find one deep in low sec with little traffic. I was not aware that they could scan down wrecks now. When did that change? Excuse me, wasn't being clear enough: You can d-scan to gain general direction and distance and then set probes outside of d-scan range to pinpoint the exact location. All of this unknown to anyone else except for the fact you are in local
D-scan range is 13AU ... you will never get a warpable scan on a ship using probes set at 16AU radius to be outside of d-scan range. You can get a very good idea of where the target is using d-scan then deploy the probes ONCE at a very small radius in the hope of getting a warpable hit in one go ... but the probes will still be visible on d-scan and with a T3 fitted to minimize its scan signature you may need to get to minimum scan range on the combat probes to get a warpable hit. |

the unscannable tengu is a myth, it can be scanned easy, even pods are able to be scanned so...
the hardest T3 i had scanned down (i.e the lowest sig) was an armor loki, those are pretty hard to get even at 2AU, 1AU is a minimum for thoses, but again, a trained scanner will be pretty fast to catch it.
on the other hand, it could be hard to catch ship that have way bigger sig, but who pay attention on their dscan, it was easier to catch said loki than a drake who was paying attention
my advice:
whatever you are in, check dscan the moment a non blue enter local, and gtfo the moment you see probes on dscan, don't even wait! |

the idiot is confusing plex's with mission sites.
complex's can be scanned down usually with combat probes and core probes, ships and drones need combat probes to get a hit. Now giving away isk to likes on forums posts to random likers..* Masuka Taredi 100m isk* could this be you? |
