It must exist, because all the cars have built-in camera equipment. Hopefully, though, the authorities will have had enough sense to destroy it, and put paid to all the rubberneckers.

You won't be alone .. probably 90% of the human race thinks it's fascinating to watch other people getting injured, killed, or otherwise damaged.

the first WRC death since Rodger Freeth (the late Possum Bourne's co-driver) in the 1993 Rally Australia, and before that, the late, great Henri Toivoinen in corsica.
While my passion has always been for circuit racing, Michael Park's death is a sad day for all motorsport.
Personally, however, I'm more saddened by the vulture-like desire to see how the accident ocurred. I doubt that the footage will be destroyed, but will instead be taken into police custody for any inquest. I hope it never reaches the ghoulish hands of people who'd have a wish to watch the footage because it was a fatal accident; I doubt many people would be wanting to get footage of it if it were a simple case of a car going off the road and retiring.
For the "how" however, The fact that Markko Martin was completely unhurt suggests to me that it was a side-on collision with the tree, and either the force was too great for the cage, or an intrusion in the impact. if the former, I'm sure lessons will be learnt. the latter, freak chances in impacts can never be removed from a non-circuit rally, short of racing armoured tanks not WRC's. the cars will adapt, and rallying will go on. and that, I am certain, is what Michael Park, with his passion for world rallying would have wanted.

I'm saddened by his death, but there's nothing wrong with wanting to see the crash because it was fatal. Most were interested in seeing the fottage of that French Concord plane crashing for example.
I think it's just human curiosity. ------------------------------

I was watching it on Eurosport last night, I am sure the Peugeot head said something like "you can hit the car from any angle and the drivers will survive, but if you hit it from one particular place from the side, either the drivers or co-drivers, then people get hurt. and that is what happened to michael."
GB rally has all those log piles by the side of the track though, perhaps he hit one of those and the wood pierced the window?
It's a loss, I can see why Gronholm was retired. Not sure why Loeb 'refused' his win, seeing as he is going to win the championship anyway.
And yes, I watch the WRC for the fast cars and the crashes.

having raced in my misspent past, and raced in events where people were killed (in completely different sports), I can understand why sebastian loeb did not want to celebrate his championship victory on the day a fellow competitor was killed. In that sort of situation, victory is so hollow, so unwelcome, that it is no longer an issue at all. winning a championship in such a situation could only be worse feeling. I know I would want to celebrate a championship and victory the nght I win, and would not want to celebrate in the aftermath.

It's sad to see someone as valued to WRC as Michael be lost under such tragic circumstances.
I'm glad to see that the WRC cancelled the last couple of stages of the rally, as well as organising the fitting vigil and minute of silence that was held on the podium ramp instead of the usual celebrations.
I managed to catch the accident on the net before it was subsequently removed from the site. To me it looks like it was a very high speed collision and the tragic fatality was caused by a combination of both cage failure and intrusion.
Condolences to his family, friends and the whole of the WRC.
It's a sad day indeed when someone's life is taken like this.

very saddened to hear about this big fan of WRC and motorsport in general. Seems Me and Him have something in common though: "Park, nicknamed 'Beef', was a highly-experienced co-driver who had worked with former champions Richard Burns and Colin McRae." R.I.P Mr Park, may you be remembered for your astounding achievments and as a Father and Husband to be proud of. Hope people everywhere will celebrate your life rather than mourn your passing.
