Sound fair? If your liberty is won by others then you are not free, you are merely protected. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood |

Well if your going to dump your corp anyway, what's the harm?
Besides, I thought you might like a story to write about

PS - next time you are 'plain bored' and want to blow 1.2 billion ISK in an effort to help newbs, buy us some ships, or some skill books or something. Anything else, rather than give your money to someone who is obviously (obvious to anyone with half a brain) scamming.
Next time I'm bored and want to blow 1.2 bil, find me in lowsec, because I'll be raring to lose a Proteus. If I am logged onto TQ, I'm probably drunk. You've been warned. |

Came expecting a story about a victory over a scammer.
Left feeling defeated, and slightly depressed. So, you basicly fell for the oldest scam in the book, whilst simultaneously knowing that you were going to fail for it, and paradoxically finished by concluding that you had somehow won? That you managed to get them to "shut up"?
Am i missing something here?
To quote you: "Maybe I just wanted to prove to someone that I was smarter than a) they assume I am, and b) they think they themselves are."
Well, you failed.
Also, if you send me 2 billion isk, i'll triple it!!! Post with your main, like a BOSS! |

So did you prove that ISK doubling is a scam? Or that ISK doubling is a scam that really works?
I rather doubt that you deterred your spammer. But I'm confident you have encouraged a whole bunch of new scammers.

I proved that I can spend 1.2 bil to troll the entire forum for a few hours... and add some interest to the game when I can't PvP....

Though well intentioned I feel the process is perhaps a bit misguided and fruitless.
1- you have reinforced the scam 2- such a scam runs on the greed of the particular player, you are not effecting that, nor can you reasonably hope to 3- players who actually get sucked in to 2x scams are not likely to be reading your post, if they do they will delete or distort 'facts' that fall outside of the model of things that have them fall for the scam in the first place.
The noob missions should have an ISK doubler with limited negative impact and a station agent that then tells you how stupid you were. "Those you see over there, with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."-á"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but windmills." |

That's kind of a bummer. And I realize this now that I'm less drunk.
I think I want my next two blog entries to be titled "How to fail, hilariously, at PvP", and "How to win, magnificently at PvP".... one dedicated fail-fit, and one successful T2 1v1 duel..... that might be awesome.

About 4 1/2 yrs ago, back when I was a young capsuleer, I took a chance on one of those 'Double Your ISK' things to the tune of 15 mill. That was pretty much my wallet amount. After I sent the ISK, the scammer did a private convo with me asking me to do 100 mill, Of course he didn't know I didn't have any more ISK. I simply told him to first double the 15 mill and then I'll gladly do the 100 mill. The scammer told me he was in convo with others and would do it shortly, then he left the private convo.
All attempts at trying to re-establish communications was futile. I then placed the scammer on watch list and set him to red standing. I then stayed logged into the game for long lengths of time, at least 16 hrs a day, always looking for him. When he logged back into the game, I used a locator agent and quickly warped over to the system he was in and spammed Local chat linking his name with the words = Liar, Thief, Scammer. Eventually he left the system and after I did a mad dash jumping into neighboring systems, I found him again and started doing the same thing again, spamming Local with my message about the scammer. He soon logged off.
However, I remained vigilant and whenever he came online, I was soon in the same system posting my message in Local. This went on for about a week, then one day he sent me a mail message saying I had won, deposited 15 mill in my wallet and told me to leave him alone.
Sure, I didn't get the 'Double Your ISK' but at least I got my initial amount back. Granted it took me some time to do that but in the end vengeance was mine. I've heard it said before that vengeance is best when served cold but I'm here to tell you that it's way better when served fresh, hot off the grill.

You spent a week logged into Eve for 16 hours a day, following someone around for 15 mil.

This is absurd, I recently couldn't afford plexing my account and I seen Erotica 1, and she seemed pretty legit from what the forums say.
So I asked her nicely explained the situation and sent her 250 mil isk, she sent back 500 mil so I could plex my account.
OP just tried forcing her into what she would have already done freely (double the isk) so to teach him a lesson he got burnt, oh well play by the rules next time and it will go in your favour.
The majority of the people who do these things aren't scammers they are just extremely space rich and like to help other people. |
