If someone would be so kind as to sticky this. I shelled out a good amount of ISK to get this conversation to happen.
Noobs, don't fall for dumb crap. And here is why, in plain sight. I've been in this game long enough to know a scam, and decided to do something about one of them, so you all don't get roped into this kind of thing. Flying since 2007... so sometimes, this is how bored I get with EVE
Read up and educate yourselves.

Posting to confirm that it is completely necessary to pay a scammer in order to make noobs aware of the scam. Nobody has ever made noobs aware of a scam without first pretending to be taken in by the scammer in a non-refundable fashion.
This explanation makes perfect sense and this story is 100% plausible. |

PS - next time you are 'plain bored' and want to blow 1.2 billion ISK in an effort to help newbs, buy us some ships, or some skill books or something. Anything else, rather than give your money to someone who is obviously (obvious to anyone with half a brain) scamming.

Came expecting a story about a victory over a scammer.
Left feeling defeated, and slightly depressed. So, you basicly fell for the oldest scam in the book, whilst simultaneously knowing that you were going to fail for it, and paradoxically finished by concluding that you had somehow won? That you managed to get them to "shut up"?
Am i missing something here?
To quote you: "Maybe I just wanted to prove to someone that I was smarter than a) they assume I am, and b) they think they themselves are."
Well, you failed.
Also, if you send me 2 billion isk, i'll triple it!!! Post with your main, like a BOSS! |

Though well intentioned I feel the process is perhaps a bit misguided and fruitless.
1- you have reinforced the scam 2- such a scam runs on the greed of the particular player, you are not effecting that, nor can you reasonably hope to 3- players who actually get sucked in to 2x scams are not likely to be reading your post, if they do they will delete or distort 'facts' that fall outside of the model of things that have them fall for the scam in the first place.
The noob missions should have an ISK doubler with limited negative impact and a station agent that then tells you how stupid you were. "Those you see over there, with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."-á"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but windmills." |

I think I want my next two blog entries to be titled "How to fail, hilariously, at PvP", and "How to win, magnificently at PvP".... one dedicated fail-fit, and one successful T2 1v1 duel..... that might be awesome.

The noob missions should have an ISK doubler with limited negative impact and a station agent that then tells you how stupid you were.

About 4 1/2 yrs ago, back when I was a young capsuleer, I took a chance on one of those 'Double Your ISK' things to the tune of 15 mill. That was pretty much my wallet amount. After I sent the ISK, the scammer did a private convo with me asking me to do 100 mill, Of course he didn't know I didn't have any more ISK. I simply told him to first double the 15 mill and then I'll gladly do the 100 mill. The scammer told me he was in convo with others and would do it shortly, then he left the private convo.
All attempts at trying to re-establish communications was futile. I then placed the scammer on watch list and set him to red standing. I then stayed logged into the game for long lengths of time, at least 16 hrs a day, always looking for him. When he logged back into the game, I used a locator agent and quickly warped over to the system he was in and spammed Local chat linking his name with the words = Liar, Thief, Scammer. Eventually he left the system and after I did a mad dash jumping into neighboring systems, I found him again and started doing the same thing again, spamming Local with my message about the scammer. He soon logged off.
However, I remained vigilant and whenever he came online, I was soon in the same system posting my message in Local. This went on for about a week, then one day he sent me a mail message saying I had won, deposited 15 mill in my wallet and told me to leave him alone.
Sure, I didn't get the 'Double Your ISK' but at least I got my initial amount back. Granted it took me some time to do that but in the end vengeance was mine. I've heard it said before that vengeance is best when served cold but I'm here to tell you that it's way better when served fresh, hot off the grill.

While i can sort of understand what you are trying to do, you have to understand that this is something that has been said so many times over and over again that one more wont make any real difference (as an example look at a certain recruitment scam from one of the more known alliances).
When it comes down to it new players (and plenty of old ones im sure) gets scammed because they dont take the time to do any form of research and are blissfully ignorant of how harsh EVE can be.
In a way (in my own opinion) its a good thing that young players gets to experience getting scammed once since it will teach them to do proper research, encourage them to find creative ways around these scams (look at DMC's post as an example), and finally teaches them that you can not trust anyone in EVE (especially if they want to give you free stuff for no apparent reason at all ).
But honestly...this is just another thread describing the same scam as countless other threads, and while this thread has been growing, his wallet has most likely grown as well. Phoibe Enterprises official recruitment thread The Eve Reader - -áAudio Recordings of Eve Chronicles

Same, as long as you follow the rules, and are polite instead of trying to shame them in general forums for being too slow on the transactions.
I mean if you dont have patience you will get burned, these PLAYERS ARE GIVING AWAY THEIR ISK TO RANDOM PEOPLE out of the goodness of the hearts and wallets.
I am glad they burned you to teach you a lesson, which is always to be patient and wait for the doublers to properly add up the isk being doubled and adjusts the wallets accordingly |

I am sympathetic most of the time to other eve players who get scammed, but what makes me want to keep flaming this thread, is simply this.
You should have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPECTATION of getting stuff for free in this game, irregardless of whether you attempt to shame a scammer or not.
Lets say that the pressure you put on the scammer worked, lets say they doubled your isk... would you be posting here? absolutely not.
YOU are posting here, simply because you are angry with losing 1.2 bil or 1.4 bil whichever it was and you want some kind of justice or this is your attempt at reasoning your loss, instead of admitting you got scammed. (which is what happened)
You are trying to justify your loss with this absurd public service announcement, TRULY does anybody here even remotely expected your isk to be doubled?
You gambled and lossed, I doubt if anyone cares about your so called public service announcement, but I for one am glad you made it, so If I ever cross your path and need to engage in any kind of acitivity with you a simple forum search will show this absurd thread and I will know you are just one of those get rich quick types.
The best move you can possibly do now, is edit all your posts in this thread so they are blank and ask for it being locked.

Edit: in other MMO's it is possible for a single player to rid a single server of 'ISK'/'gold' doublers. I do not think the scale or mechanics of EVE allow this. There are two steps. Often only one is needed.
1- you bombard their means of trade with zero value transactions. It makes it impossible for them to respond to their marks. 2- while doing this you actively troll them out into public, beyond their bot ads. They get quite angry and ruin their own market, but usually that is not even necessary.
I know this works because I have done it multiple times in multiple games. It simply becomes unprofitable for them to operate in that area or on that server. This actually works for many kinds of third party profiteers. Eventually you can create a local cultural norm about it where the potential marks now have a persistent hostility toward such activities and take pride in trolling them out. The ISK doubler is essentially 'lazy' and will move to someplace easier to operate. Because EVE is geared to be able to handle transactions and is so vast this would not likely work here, nor be worth the trouble. It is necessary to create a consistently hostile business environment for them. Though it does not take the kind of 16 hour obsession reported here, you do have to be vigilant for a short period of time and willing to log an alt. Educating the 'mark' alone is insufficient. However if other people relaize they can punish the doubler in some way it very rapidly becomes good fun to do so. Actually paying the doubler anything is the opposite direction you want to go. If you cannot destroy their profitability through insane transaction costs there is little you can do. 'Education' such as the OP imagines not only does not work, but creates the opportunity for shilling by the doublers themselves, as we see above.
If I'd thought about it a little harder, at the time.... your method does make a lot more sense.

Jarod, could you just cut out the text boxes and post them in full size? I checked your screen shot and the text was too small to be readable without effort.
Or, better yet, maybe you could just post the chat log?
And, as an aside, I think you should conduct another test on a "real" ISK doubler. If you send me 1 billion ISK I will give you 2 billion ISK in return. If you doubt me there is only one way to prove it.

That's just silly.
Only one person has made a helpful post here, so far, and that's Shao Huang... the guy that actually shared a REAL method to get rid of these a**hats. Which is one of the reasons I posted this.

I thought it was going to be a blog about how you tested with small amounts to see where she'd stop returning the money, and / or tricked her into "doubling" some of your cash some.
You titled your blog about getting even one scammer out of Dodixie; did you? Is she still there?

The rules are clear, yet it is easy to miss a key point in those rules that will result in you losing the game. If you lose it is just like losing when gambling, the money you lost is gone. Vegas does not refund your money when you lose. I am not Trying to make you feel dumb because you lost. Far more players fall to follow the rules and lose, than those that do follow the rules and win. That is what makes the game work. If more players win than lose she will not make any money.
This game is based on greed. Players get so excited that she actually does payout what she says that they forget the rules and send isk amounts that do not follow the rules.
If you want to play the game add her to your watch list, Send isk only when you see she is online.
Read her Bio carefully, If you follow ALL the rules, you will get your isk doubled, tripled or even 5 times what you send her.

Noobs, don't fall for dumb crap. And here is why, in plain sight. I've been in this game long enough to know a scam, and decided to do something about one of them, so you all don't get roped into this kind of thing. Flying since 2007... so sometimes, this is how bored I get with EVE Read up and educate yourselves. http://jarodgaramonde.blogspot.com/ I too was scammed by erotica 1!!! I sent her 2b and she refused to double me. Now I am broke and have nothing. I spent so long mining to get to that level and now have to start all over! She won't even give me a refund, which PROVES she's a scam. I have done some defective work though and discovered she has been blogging about her conquests on some website by a guy called Psycho Monk HERE: http://belligerentundesirables.com/You should link her forum acrticles from your blog and ruin her scam! Can anyone out there lend me some isk to help start over? I have learned my lesson. You were not scammed. You did not follow the rules. I too am a scammer. Please don't give me 1.2 billion isk then blog about me, though. It would make me very upset and I might have to leave Dodixie and never come back. Join the Revolutionary Front and liberate New Eden from it's stuff.

Well I can't say for sure that I have his 1.2b or so, but if on the off chance that is true, I guess it could have gone towards my share purchase in the New Order today. Or maybe the Vindi I gave to a friend today. Or one of the two Bhaal's.
But personally I think all of that isk spent today was from people who did not read, not these people who claim they sent and didnt.
PS Still in Dodixie

You might wanna read the rules before trying to expose a scammer.
-amounts not listed in the rules are considered donations -both 1.2b and 2b are not listed in the rules -you donated 1.2 and 2b isk to Erotica
Where's the scam here???
I don't know if she doubles when you follow the rules, but these cases prove exactly nothing. |

You guys all missed it. I just got done doing a special doubling room event with special rules. I would 5x everything, as long as the room invested 5b. Sadly, we only raised 4.5b so I was forced to keep it. See Bio for isk doubling rules. -áIf you didn't read bio, chances are you helped fund those who did. |
