Having read this thread about plague I then remembered this chronicle and thought it would be very cool to see disease in EVE, be it by chemicals, radiation or viral strains.
Affected people would be forced to take coping drugs till they could find a cure and there would all of a sudden be a new meaning for the SOE.
Pilots afflicted with the different conditions and diagnosed would have to sport a biohazard or radiation sign on the photo ID. This would be a great chance for lawabiding citizens to get a feeling for how it is to be running from the law, breaking quarantines and trafficing antidote to worlds and stations where the powers that be are denying the outbreak.
Not taking coping drugs or finding the antidote in a timeframe possibly decided by ones willpower means you die. Skills needed for obtaining the drugs would be relying on charisma, some use for those next to worthless attributes if nothing else.

yeah and you catch it in certain complex's or from certain ships, eg. if you blow up a bloodraider building. you could catch some blood ilness from some infected blood they might be storing in the station Co-ceo of the Phantasm Constituency ----------------------------------- Worlds most southernly midd*****ro supporter (heartfordshire) |

i suposse everyone rolls around stations in pod's. doubt it. I like this idea if you enter some 0.0 out post you have a total curent user count / 8 % chance of catching the virus.
I think it would be great but after dying once you loose the virus .
You could add it to the medical tab , or make it another group on the market. would make illigal goods worth smuggling.
Signed.

Yes, and we all know whats happening to wow players, due to something thats become a plague. The idea of introducing something like a virus to players isn't a great idea.

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 23/09/2005 00:58:17 People afraid of it would keep their distance to infected players and places, whilst less caring individuals would dare these places in search of rare materials and loot to clean off, or not and sell on to the greater public.
I think it would add some real depth to EVE, you being scared of it is just proof of it being worthwhile itself.

That would have you scramble to get that coping drug or antidote now wouldn't it?

U heard about the 'plauge' they had in WoW right?
Didn't work out so good.... it killed everyone... LOL
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2005/09/19/wow_plague_disease
Anyways... this almost makes me WANT to play WOW.... not quite, but ALMOST.. if there was somethign similar in eve, it would add to the feeling you get when u warp into low sec space. Danger at every turn.. can be avoided, but it is danger just the same.

I'd only go for the idea if the risk of getting infected was put so low so it only happened once or twice a year. That's about how many times I get sick in real life.

Edited by: Futher Bezluden on 24/09/2005 06:28:45 That someone defiled the eve forums with something as retarded as infecting character with aids like in WOW, then making them hunt down vials of +5 uber healing, should be grounds for immediate podding. WOW is ***. Having seen the guild screenshot of all the elves and trolls in pink uniforms with purple hearts on their chests was the moment I put the WOW site on my list of blocked sites. Do the same.
Disease, EVE-AIDS... hell no
You are in a spaceship, inside a biologically sealed pod... wtf... a bloodraider is going to sneeze and the virons are going to travel the vacuum of space, drill holes in your ship, drill into your pod, and give you lukemia? Horrid idea on every level

Am I talking about Aids anywhere? There's no need for your WoW-hating on this thread, the online plague was probably the coolest thing to date in an MMO. It being unintentional and befalling WoW made it even more so.
Still the idea remains what it is, an appeal for depth in EVE with plagues, diseases, famines, contamination, all and any factors really that can and will 'cause a market flux, the primary focus being on disease...

I have a better idea along with the issue of the disease.
I would like to see NPCs in the game with the disease, planets ravaged by disease. Now if you're asking how this would affect you? For exmaple we could have super large drug shipments coming up on the market. News items poping up, etc.
But please, whatever you do, do not make it like the "plague" in everquest II a few months ago, for the love of god don't.

I'd expected something worthwhile from you, you know damn well what I was telling the drone.
Discrediting of an idea for increased immersion coming from a supposed roleplayer is somewhat discouraging. Maybe afflicted people could get special forum emoticons or joust for the title 'sickest of the lot'.

How do you inspect your loot once the mission is over ? It does get moved from space into your cargo hold and from there into your items bin in a base.
From that you could theoretically introduce and epidemic to the base in its entirety. TotensBurntCorpse Likes EVE, Starfleet Command Series, Earth & Beyond, Anything Battlefield, MOHAA, Call of Duty.

Can someone tell me how a pilot inside a capsule in the center of a giant metal machine that has slaves and crew and machinery fit modules to his ship and attendants sale goods on the market contract a disease from something in his cargo hold? Come on Danton, your the ass of role-playing and you missed this one? Bah I saw to thee. BAH! _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ You sank my battleship! -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Wake up pure and happy back in Hophib and grab another ship to kill someone with. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ You sank my battleship! -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

My understanding is that due to the surgery needed for the POD-interface the capsuleers live inside the PODs. Then make enough to re-create themselves outside and live (wealthy) and happily ever after.
But this idea of FORCING things on unsuspecting players is not good, IMO.
Having Consumer Goods/Medical Supplies/<whatever> and different markets for them is OK, though.
