I've just been looking at a ship fitting that somebody linked me and I needed to find out how long it would take to fit the items I couldn't use. I think it might be nice if the fitting screen also had a field that would show how many days until we could fit the whole fitting (drones, ship, mods, rigs etc) rather than having to figure out everything bit by bit.

Yes you can use evemon, however if it's already sat there in eve client it would be quicker than having to load up another program and actually put the fit together. |

quicker for you, not the server.
Imagine 1000 poeple in jita looking at a fit and the eve doing all the sql calls to check skills, find tose lacking and add up time to train. the gerbils spinning the wheels that power this game are busy enough.
This is where 3rd party like evemon come in. All they do is this task. Its a tedious task that would eat up resources better used for someting else.
Also eve cannot for lower sp players who have not maxed all fitting skills work out how they would actually fit that fit. It could say 5 days to fit the module. The say engineering skills to have the PG to actually fit it though are a completely different story.
It could be 5 days plus 20+ days of AWU5 to shoehorn the guns in plus x amount of days for the weapons rigging skill 4 to offset penalty to grids even with the 3% PG implant your boy may have forget to mention being needed as well.
this last part makes even evemon "lie" to you. You need eft to see how the cpu/grid will hold up. If its going red fast....you got some trainnig to do.
Again why this given to 3rd party. tIf ccp says 5 days and its wrong many would would whine fail ccp lied to me. When it comes to 3rd party like say eft and evemon many are generally more forgiving of errors in numbers.. Mainly because unless an ass most know its done volunteer basis (and to the maintainers of the good eve related appas out there, your effrots are appreciated) . And well for people like me who work in IT, I wish my paid vendors had the overall success rate and bug reporting responsiveness of evemon and eft over the years |

You can already see how long it'll take you to fit something, in the item's info page > prerequisites tab. If you want to know how much training you need to fit it after Odyssey, you need to do the math yourself or just be patient and wait. Malcanis for CSM 8 |

You do realize that the stats from fitting screen, as well as time calculations of untrained skills from skill queue right now, is purely client side, right? Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |
