When we dont have skills to fly a ship, let us buy it and fit it in station but not undock with it :) This is a GREAT improvement everyone wants because it will allow traders to sell fitted ships and it will allow people to tweak their dps before actually training for the ship hull.
I'm sitting here with 30 minutes left on a skill, wanting to undock with ship and go having it already fitted, but cant. |

traders can sell fit ships....if you can fly the ship it jsut offlines mods you can't use. If you can't fly the ship...wait out the train if the price is right. Like one time in 0.0. I could not fly a bs yet. We however evicted some peeps and some killler firesale deal going on. I had 2 BS's a few days till I could fly , but the cost savings were very much worth it.
And you should not be tweaking dps in game. EFT it. Making the PG/CPU go red in EFT is a free learning experience. In game those mistakes cost you isk if you can't sell it for what you bought later. The funny thing abouts fits, sometimes people forget to mention little details. Like it needs core elite fitting, they had a rig skill to 4/5 you don't have yet, or PG 3% implant....or all the above for more exotic fits. |

What he said. Between EFT and what you can already do in game this should not be a huge issue. |

you cant fit the modules to start with; im talking about originating ships. This doesnt even affect you, again someone that wants to protest something that they dont have to use. You just said you don't rely on fitting ships in the game.
So because you use EFT, something not made by ccp, I should want to? Whatever. it never matches the fitting windows.
Last I knew Eft was not compatible with braille where EVE IS, until people like you with no consideration get their ideas in the game. |

Why are you wanting to use a ship immediately after getting the bare requirements? Seems like a waste, what without the skill bonuses and all. How droll. |

People gave you options OP. EFT and PYFA are both excellent options for tinkering with fits. Sure they may have some slight glitches or errors... but for a program that is free, takes up minimal system resources, and can open up multiple ship fitting windows at the same time to theorycraft entire fleet/gang setups there is very little you can complain about.
If you want to be stubborn and such, that's your problem. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

lets try a different approach...
why would you want an eve fitting tool, in game, that out right lies to you. Which it will. In game ccp only looks at one set of stats. Your current ones.
So there you are in s ship you can't fly (I'll give it to you for this example). Eve's fitting screen will show those ships stats based on your current level, not the one you are training. 15 minutes to cruiser 5 means nothing, it will use cruiser 4.
Thats not changing. So there you are theory crafting on wrong data. Not very effective imho.
3rd party is less draconian in this. they can be. Its all thier app does.

i see a usecase where it would be usefull tho.
we recently had to pre-fit and put on contract prefitted ships for an alliance level OP, and we were unable to prepare som ships, because none of the two toons used to do the preps were able to fly them, so not possible to hop in them, and indeed, to fit them.
having the ability to enter and fit them (bt not undock indeed) would have proven very usefull in this case.
i know this is niche usecase, because in such things, you can usually have the required pilots to do the fittings, but sometimes you don't.
and i don't see where i would hurt to change that point |
