I read this on youtube and one guy replying said he is a EVE radio DJ and this is true.. So i think this is true. Just read.
"well when CCP approached microsoft that they wanted to put a free to play game on xbl, Microsoft told them "NO!" andn++ they they needed to pay for every update they wanted to put out for the game, and charge for either the game itself and a subscription. CCP said, "well we'll just make it PS3 exclusive" since Microsoft was just a complete ******* about this."
So. There you have it. Blame microsoft for being an ******* and the reason why DUST wont be on XBOX.

Uh yeah this has been widely known for over a year.
Unfortunately this doesn't stop the "Grrr PS3!" crowd from whining about it like CCP did it on purpose.

Well it was also because Microsoft wanted to charge for every expansion, which CCP wanted to give for free (like with EVE) and I think the major no no from Microsoft that was essential for making DUST possible was them completely refusing to let the Microsoft servers interact with Tranquility in any capacity.
Sony are obviously very much for the idea of EVE and DUST interaction and have helped CCP a lot with it. I believe also that the SOE CEO John Smedley has been an EVE Online player for a while, which has influenced some design decisions for Planetside 2 and why he's such an advocate for DUST.
I'm a PC gamer first but I own both of the consoles, I would've preferred DUST on the Xbox simply because I find that controller a lot easier to use, but with how everything has gone, I think making it a PS3 exclusive was definitely the best decision they made... besides DUST supports mouse and keyboard anyway |

May seem strange, but FPS on consoles outsell the PC version fairly consistently. By an order of magnitude.

Used to be that way but now it's the opposite here.
Very few I know own Xboxes due to the the pay to play online subscription.
Can't give away an Xbox these days where a few years ago it seemed about 50/50.
The problem is: Buy 'multiplayer' game on Xbox. PAY AGAIN to play the 'multiplayer game' online. Oh a bug came up - pay for the patch too.
I was always a big fan of xbox but it's just a scam/ripoff compared to PS3 gaming.

This is only your perception based on your small or large group of friends. Not enough people to generalize how popular something is. PS3 has way outsold Xbox. Sony has been much more willing to please its customers and that always wins in the end. I would like to see Dust go to PC though so as not to alienate people who don't own a PS3. |

the pc vs ps3 vs xbox arguement is getting old... mostly because the reasons for the game being on the ps3 and only the ps3 have been well documented and repeated over and over and over and over and yet people are still oblivious.. http://www.soundboard.com/sb/Very%20best%20of%20Makalu%20Zarya

1 - you can use a mouse and keyboard with dust.. i do not use my controller
2 - Putting dust on the PC negates the entire reason DUST exists as a game. It was made to be able to bring the EVE universe to the PS3. They thought about porting EVE to the console and also making another RTS game before they settled on the FPS idea.. since FPS games are wildly popular on the consoles.

Sony charges the same amount for it's online services as Microsoft does. XBL is a closed system, they keep it that way so that they can easily get rid of hackers, which sony has had a way bigger problem with hackers than Microsoft ever has. And you don't pay for patches on XBL. If an exploit needs fixed you will get it patched without having to pay for it. Sony also charges for new content, just like Microsoft. I doubt that was100% the reason that CCP went with sony only, as Microsoft also has stricter update regulations than sony does. Which would make it harder for CCP to deploy patches on the 360 than on PS3 from what I heard. Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought. |

There's PSN plus, which is a paid subscription where you get a lot of free games etc. The basic PSN account lets you play multiplayer online.
XBL Silver just gives you access to the Xbox store IIRC, but if you want to play mutliplayer games online you have to pay for a subscription to XBL Gold.
My terminology may be incorrect or information may be out of date, as I sold my xbox 2-3 years ago. |

The only thing I don't like about the PS3 is there is no resume download option. You have to go back to the beginning. This only applies to patches of course.
In fact, I hate any game that comes with a launcher or an option to download a game that doesn't have a resume download option. |

Give it time, it will happen... for one, Playstation exclusive deals don't last more then a year, usually, especially with the PS4 on the horizon. Also, as far as FPSs go, DUST is rather lacking, especially for the main console crowd. CCP will have to move it to PC to keep it alive, at some point. I just find it strange that it was to be put on PS3 at all, I mean, EVE is a PC game, why not make Dust 514 (A game that is supposed to intertwine with EVE) also for PC.
Just seems very poorly planned out. |

CCP and Sony are in the process of making game history by being the first to bridge the gap between gaming platforms those two platforms being the PC, CCP and Eve-Online and the Console, Sony and PS3.
When gamers here about the new bridge they will come and see what it is like. After all gamers are always looking for new challenges which the PC/Console Bridge will give them. |

EvE already has a functional engine; it makes little sense to develop a new engine for the PC when CCP could just as easily make DUST an EvE expansion.
A console release also makes sense from a software perspective; a PS3's configuration is unlikely to change, which means A) less expense trying to make the game work with thousands of drivers and video cards, and B) no need to release for multiple operating systems.
On the whole, a well-thought-out move on CCP's part. :) |

You should have seen the reaction when DUST University got AWOXed in a Planetary Conquest battle. The DUST University leadership, mostly with EVE backgrounds, had a good laugh over it, but it was quite a wake-up call for the CoD vets on the public forums when they heard about it. |

Might happen Dust will not be even for PS4. Dust numbers have plummeted since the new graphic patch gets old after a while. And the game itself is widely considered mediocre. There is no way SOE will pick it up when it will remain under 5000-6000 players for a year. It might be compatible but sony will make sure its on their terms. |

To understand why is playerbase important is that usual fps mmos have 20-30k playerbase from launch at steady rate. CCP overhyped it (orbital bombardment) and since everbody could see that product is completly different there was no positive word of mouth. And now imagine you come to SOE and tell them you want to extend below average product and market it as f2p on their system.

Well yes if you take most fps games have 20-35k daily. It is bad. The F2P model just means you as player dont pay. But the dev team, support, services with sony all that needs to be payed on monthly bases by someone else. Also sony needs to see there is some improvement and possibility for them to make money on it at least with console sales and network subscriptions. For example if dust will not be ready for ps4 launch in fall to boost the console sales you can expect sony will not be happy at all. |
