Just curious...Is it possible for two ships/gangs to cross each other's paths whilst warping? Say two identical battleships have their flight paths perpendicular to one another, and are both on the same plane of elevation,
will their warps cross each other, or is warping similar in a sense to 'instancing'? And, if they do cross, can the resulting bump shove them out of warp...or at least result in an immense powerslide upon leaving it?

No, when you're warping you fly through everything including stations and planets. If you gang warp with a big fleet people just go through each other.

If you want a powerslide, try setting yourself up to come out of warp inside something. Example: a massive veld rock will move my Mega at 6k m/s.

Yes, they can cross paths and I've heard of it happening before, but the chances of it occuring are tiny and they'd go right through each other without a problem.

I'm pretty sure that you indeed cross people warping the same route. I often see for half a second a ship apearing and disapearing from my overview while in warp.
Suppose you warp between 2 gates in Jita in a BS, and an inty enter warp in the same direction as you, you have a slight chance of seing him pass on your overview as he warps faster than you. |

You can warp next to someone if that's what you mean, yes. As in, you'll be sitting next to eachother the whole time you're in warp and be able to see eachother on the overview.

Another thing, which is slightly worrying, is that its not so difficult for two ships to both make the same safespot (especially if gates are close together. This happens a lot in SV5.

I can remember when i got my first raven, trying to get friends to set up frigs at my warp point trying to ram them from warp... Only connected once but it was a good bump, space-borne ten pin bowling

Very easy to do with gangwarp. Have been out in my frig before and had four other frigs in close formation (sub-10k) every jump. Good photo opportunity.

Mmh, this has happened to me once. I made a safespot, warped to it, and I landed right next to a shuttle that had been safespotted. It was really weird (and yes, I warped to the safespot and not, like, a planet or something).

You can also see that behaviour if you have a pos near a jump gate.
The ships are slowing down and will pass thru you for a second...
Scary the first time, but ok when you understand where the ghosts are coming from! |
