Also I should mention I have not received an email stating it was shiped either. I pre ordered a years sub :(
Kristopher - have you emailed us at [email protected]? I posted a couple of pages back, asking those who hadn't received to do so.
Just did. Didn't see the earlier posts. I am in Florida but I am in Pensacola (North West FL) not south FL that was hit recently with a hurricane.

Okay. So I finally received mine at the beginning of November, and after thoroughly reading it, I thought I'd give some feedback.
Shipping While I perfectly know CCP/MMM are not directly responsible for that and the problems related to it, it is still part of the product/service. I was one of those people who had to wait for over a month before reading it. This basically means that the highlights/important bits/exclusives in the magazines had already been discussed on the forums, then rediscussed and even "updated" at the FanFest. Meaning that not only the information received was outdated (things concerning the Chinese cluster for example), but all exclusivity spoiled ("Supersized" EVE, etc.) I thought it was important to emphasise on this "problem" because it deteriorates the enjoyment you would otherwise have when reading the magazine.
Graphics and Quality The quality of the magazine was very good - nice colors, nice composition, nice image quality. Not too many spelling/grammar errors (although I did spot a few). The advertisements were very nice (special mention to the EVE Files one, really nice idea !), not too intrusive, and the content was well placed/arranged, with quality illustrations everywhere. Not much else to add, except that it damages too easily :(
Content
This is obviously the biggest part. The tidbits about CCP's current/coming plans was very nice. Although I thought that the CCP in China event wasn't covered enough ; no details about the trip, no anecdotes, no feedback from chinese players/testers. I would very much like more information about CCP in general, for example the upcoming move into new facilities, reports about their travels around the world (latest in europe was Germany I think ?), more discussions about where they see the game/company going, etc.
The staff interviews were top-notch, I really enjoyed them. Reminded me of the "Behind the scenes" movies - which I had very much enjoyed - except that the interviews were even more up-close and personal :) Good job on that, looking forward to the next round of interviews !
The article on the "Supersized EVE" was very nice too ; quality concept-art (why no Gallente Carrier concept shots ?), comprehensive information - all-in-all, very good article. More of those please !
DigitalCommunist's review of the HAS was very nice too, albeit a bit too short - the comprehensive summary table at the end was a very nice touch.
The in-character interviews were very nice too. Although nothing too new was revealed about the persons/organisations, the questions were well thought out, and the interview well-held. I must say that I was hoping for more (in-game) policital talk ; talks about why such or such decisions had been taken, why that war, etc. This brings me to the chronicles, which were well written, and very enjoyable to read, but I found to be too "distant" in the sense that none were very much linked to in-game characters, player happenings. I would have loved to read something about the theft of the Molyneux ; some mix of Serpentis fiction, with player events (MC and .5. helping them against the Federation), etc. But perhaps I should just sit down, and write one myself :P

[continuing]
Finally, the navigation and trade guides ; I found both to be too "newbie-oriented". After all, the people more likely to purchase the magazine are the veterans, rather than the new-comers. But perhaps I'm completely wrong in that assumption ;) Perhaps have a beginner-intermediate one, and an intermediate-expert one (like one for Scanning Probes, or building Tech II Components) ?
In the end, the reading pleasure was very spoiled by the delay, but it still was an enjoyable read. I liked the magazine. I did find it quite short - read from cover to cover within an evening, which I find quite short considering its price. I am not sure I will be buying the next issue, depending on the content, the shipping and my finances (!). However, I would like to offer a few suggestions.

Comment: With the next shipment please include a stiff cardboard backing for the magazine. My 40-day-late issue of E-ON was folded neatly in half as if it had gone through a press (every page from front to back was actually *creased*, like freshly drycleaned pants). That takes a lot of force for a mag that heavy!
Oh, and for those countries that take 40 days to recieve their issues... release them 40 days before the 'official' release date so that everyone gets them at pretty much the same time.

I just got my copy. Sorry, but it was way too full of self-promotional fluff for my tastes.
The only thing I found useful was the Heavy Assault Cruiser guide. I wouldn't mind paying $15 for a complete guide to Eve ships, but if you're going to dole out just one class of ships per issue, I won't be buying.
I'm not against the concept of having fiction in the magazine, but I haven't gotten around to reading most of what is available free online yet, so that wasn't a plus for me. I can see how others would like it, though.
As a n00b that's been casually playing since July, I hoped for some valuable info but found very little that isn't already available online. I learned a few minor tidbits and can't imagine any veteran players got anything truly useful out of it.
Production values were great...nice glossy magazine, eye-catching graphics, etc.
It was a nice try, but at that price and lacking meaty content, I won't be subscribing.
What would I like to see? Useful and specific strategies for mining, pvp, bounty hunting, raising isk, plotting your optimal skill tree...I keep hearing you can do darn near anything in this game, so tell me about it and don't limit the info to just a noobie guide.
Also, an article on how to tell which of the various in game news reports are window dressing and which are things that really matter would be nice. For example, it took me a while to figure out there were genuine overcrowding issues in some star systems and you were really asking people to move their operations elsewhere. I initially thought it was just another nonsensical bit of prose to enhance the fictional game world background.

I was shocked when I saw this: "with 0.6 systems being the lowest sec-rated system an AFK (away from keyboard) traveller should attempt passing through." and this: "if the system happens to be a safe one (0.6 or above)"
There are other small mistakes, but this one is huge. I think it should be rectified in the next issue.

Got a reply they said they were sending me a replacement copy out so hopefully I'll be digging in to it soon. Small world I tell ya. First I've heard of anyone from near here playing Eve. Most likely a lot of us and just don't know it. Sometimes though I feel like i'm the only one that has ever heard of Elba, Alabama

Waited patiently this entire time without posting. Well I did finally recieve my magazine in the mail yesterday. Ive just got to state that I found it completely ridiculous to wait this long. A letter I write while deployed makes a quicker trip back home. I might add that I recieved the replacement copy, doubt if a first was ever actually sent in my name. As for the magazine I must say great job CCP and MMM for a quality printed magazine devoted entirely to Eve. PROS: * Enjoyed reading about the progress of the EVOl movie. * Warp Drive Active comic gave a few chuckles. * The articles on 'LeKjart' and 'Nag' were good reads. * The HAC evaluations were great, perhaps if something similar is done next article you could include a setup or two. * Guide for Safe Navigation should be a good read for pilots inexperienced with low-sec. * I enjoyed reading the Funnies in the back of the issue. * The full page adds were suprisingly non-obtrusive. CONS: * Fanfest 2005 Preview, lol. It's already come and gone, nuff said. * Super Size Eve, again the cats already out of the bag on that one. There goes the privileged information for subscribers (the reason to buy the magazine). * The Eve-i article for obvious reasons. * The Guide to Trading is readily available on the forums for reading. Most veteran players are aware it's there and new players could be directed there by STAR personnel.
All in all it was a great magazine. But it still remains whether I will subscribe to this as the horrible shipping is a bit of a turn off. Good luck with the magazine in the future a good job to MMM and CCP for publishing E-ON.

Prydeless - I have now sent the email three times (replying to yours) and each time it gets bounced back. The shipping address you supplied when you ordered is not the same as the address you have supplied in your email. Can you check that the mag has not arrived at the address you gave when you ordered (PO Box 343). If not, we will re-supply. Feel free to email back - yours are getting through. Pevaw - I can assure you that the original was sent, but I'm glad you at least received the replacement. As far as shipping goes, we have in the past few weeks been undertaking a thorough review of the situation, and will be making considerable changes to the way the magazine is mailed out in the future. We understand the frustration felt by all E-ON purchasers who waited patiently for their magazines to arrive, and will in the course of the next few days post a Dev Blog announcing the revised state of play, along with the availabilty of pre-orders for issue #002. Please, everybody, be advised, that we do take the matter very seriously.

Hi E-on,
sorry to see that you have been let down by your couriers on this occassion. I am sure that anyone who has seen the magazine and its quality will appreciate that this is well worth the money. I received mine and was almost to afraid to open it because it just looked so good.
Some people seem to have expected more information than they got. This surprised me since it is the nature of the game that much of our day to day game information would be provided through the media of webpages. Yet this is the important point about your magazine. How can it be sufficiently different to justify the price?
Well the first thing is it provides information in a beautiful format that you can just enjoy. The game is a beautiful game and the magazine reflects that. It is just nice having for those reasons. A second thing is that we get access to short stories that I am not aware are available on the web. The inside scoop is of course manditory and you had that. All in all a good start and I can't wait to see how you develop the magazine. I am fairly confident if you keep this up that I will be renweing my subscription to the magazine. I am fairly new to the game and this provides it with something added that I do not get elsewhere.
kind regards
Sharken

I just signed up for the E-ON year subscription just a few quick questions
1) Is issue #1 still available and being sent out? 2) I live in the UK how quickly do you guys dispatch and is this first class? 3) How many magazines do you send out a year was it 4? 4) Is there a way to track my order??

The stories were the best content, in my opinion. That and the interviews rank highest in my book.
I would like to see a bit larger page count - in fact, I'd gladly pay more for a larger magazine, but am not sure if I'll bother if it remains so thin. ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |

Answers to your questions as follows: 1) Yes issue #001 is still available, and is being sent out. 2) Orders are dispatched daily, within 24 hours of order. UK copies should be received within 48 hours of dispatch. 3) Yes, the magazine is quarterly, so 4 a year. Next issue (#002) ships on 6th Jan 2006. 4) No, there is no way to track the order, as the magazine goes by regular mail which is not trackable.
Hope you enjoy E-ON when you get it.
