So here I am in a sec .2 system, having it all by myself. I see a container full of yummies and empty it, but it won't explode. I thought, what the heck, this is sec.2 space I'll take a shot at it. I do, and dismissing the warning I shoot, and immediately get blasted by gateguns. So it seems you can't start fighting anywhere but in sec.0 space. Is this the case? I don't mind having my ship obliterated, I'm happy my pod was not shot at. But when can you savely start combat? Only when the thingy is red?
Also, since some time my default display in my objectwindow does not automatically display stargates and sentryguns anymore. When choosing default/standard they are still not displayed. I made my own display with everything I want to see on it, but it defaults to stanndard sometimes, don't know when. I am not aware I have changed the default settings, and when I have checked the stargates they will not stay in place. Anybody know about this issue? Or is the defaultsetting without stargates and guns? I can't imagine that.

in .4 space and below you can shoot ppl in belts and space away from the sentry guns , but you are flagged for about 20 mins so dont go near station or gates until that time has passed . you must be in true 0.0 to not have to worry about agro

regarding the flag timer, do realise that logging off will stop the timer and once you log back on you it will resume.

When you make a new setting for your overview that you would like to have on all of the time, you need to set it as the default. It is an option in the overview menu.

Is this so? This morning I undertake this infamous experiment, got me a new ship after docking into a station, wanted to fly out again and got shot again by sentryguns. So I docked again and logged off. About 2 hours later I got me a ship and got out again, homefree! nTnx for the info, Jacyro

Remember that 0.1 - 0.4 space still technically has "laws" against killing, its just concord don't patrol there, so you are free to do so in the asteroid belts, just with a security rating hit, and being shot by sentry guns for a bit afterwards.
0.0 has no laws at all, which is why you can do whatever the hell you want out there.

It should be true, at least that's what CCP implemented, how it works ingame, I have no idea I am not the pirate type.

If you've emptied a container and it doesn't explode then you don't want to shoot it. It is probably one of the permanant containers which spawn loot on a regular basis. I don't know what the spawn delay is but I'd guess 25 mins.
