I can't speak for CCP but I personally don't expect new players to never make mistakes, no. I also accept some of those mistakes may involve falling for scams. That's okay. It's part of the game. It isn't the CCP's job to keep you from making mistakes, it's your job to learn from the mistakes you make. Everyone makes mistakes in EvE. People fall for scams, people lose ships, it's natural. **** happens. If you are going to play EvE you have to get used to the idea that sometimes you will lose. When you do, the correct thing to do is ask yourself what can I do to make sure I never make that same mistake again. Asking someone else to solve your problems for you isn't going to get you very far in EvE.
My boss was telling me about that battle a while ago - nice to read a firsthand account of how it went down! nicely done |

Because Jita is the Mos Eisley of Eve. The implication is that, if new players avoided Jita like the game told them to, they would be relatively safe from scams. |

Lies, Jita makes Mos Eisley look like a high end shopping mall.

That's what makes Eve different, the rules aren't published, they are learnt through experience, and part of that experience is learning when to break the rules.
Ah, I give up. Apparently we are proud of the bot spam fest that is Jita. My blocked list is reaching epic proportions. |

It's not a matter of pride - we just don't want CCP padding the walls of our sandbox.
One thing I *would* like would be a way to make simple regular expression chat filters, though. |

A. Who are you...apparantly not that important because I never heard of you. B. Look at my face...does it look like I give a **** that you blocked me. Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but I'm referring to blocking the spam bots in Jita. Unless you are one of them, I would not block you. I thought what I meant was pretty clear. |

Can we get tutorials about other players being human, about remembering to breathe while playing despite being in a pod with no air (remember, this is a game!) and several other important things we should not be expected to know already. Thanks. |

Apparently you didn't read the stuff in that link I gave you. Noone cares if you like Jita local spam or not, scams are much more broad than some little thing that bothers you. Close local in Jita you meathead. |

I remember when I was a noobie. I thought I knew everything about everything. EVE has been going strong for 10 years with with pretty much the same business model, while I would like to see the game be more noobie friendly in some aspects I know now that it would do more harm then good to change something after 10 years. Yea your loss sucks but welcome to EVE. I think the better solution would be not to let noobs buy plex to sell in game from the first week you have proven that you you cannot handle that much cash. (Btw really not that much that would not even come close to most of the ships I fly) when I started I thought EVE had to change to the way I wanted it and when I realized that it was not going to happen I quit for some time. Biggest mistake I ever made I would be so much further in the game had I never quit. Just know now you are not getting your isk back and if your going to quite so easy this is the wrong game for you. And you can tell every last soul thay you know and some that you don't how terrible this game is but in the long run you didn't hurt anyone and Noone will care. So you have two choices you can hush the **** up and take your loss as a lesson learned or you can quite either way it effects no one other than you.
I think the thing people like you tend to over look is we were all noobies at one point we all have our story of a lesson learned and we are all doing just fine and enjoying the game |

As a new player I know it can be tricky when trying to decide what is legit and what is a scam. Especially as most of us are eager to get into the next ship up the food chain. Or to deck out the one we have with shiny T2 pieces.
That said, it's not like scamming is an art form limited to the Eve Universe. Surely if you walk through a market and see a designer piece of clothing for a hundred pounds less than it ought to be, you stop and think.. something's fishy here. If it's to good to be true, it normally is.
Earlier I almost sold my Pilot License for what I thought was a great price until after reading it again I realized it was thousands and not millions being offered. Thankfully reading it twice saved me from making a costly mistake.
So what am I saying? Use caution. Read things twice and compare it to the market. If in doubt, don't do it. |

http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2012/12/17/in-an-age-of-f2p-eve-online-sets-records/ I think Eve's business model is just fine. It's being hailed by Forbes, and for many of the things the Op is whining about. I'll trust Forbes' business development knowledge and consumer psychology over yours.
That's a pretty old scam you fell for OP, and they have already done things to make it impossible to be scammed that way. Namely buy it on the market. Hell you could of have just right clicked in the trade window and seen it was not what it was billed as.
My advice to you HTFU or GTFO. This is EVE love it or leave it.
If you decide to stay talk to a Goonswarm recruiter for the low deposit of 500 million isk they would be happy to take you in. They will even offer to fly your things to 0.0 |

Finally
The going price for these is ~50mil ..... you would have been scammed even if the ship were what it was advertised.
If you thought you were getting one that was faction fit / whatever ... then the warning that the ship you were buying might not be fit or rigged is exactly on point.
The problem, OP, is you thought you could buy your way into EvE through PLEX, not realizing this was a terrible idea because you're basically the proverbial baby with the candy.
Also - Jita is NOT a new-player system. You basically have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Your whole argument is like me emailing Ferrari and telling them they would sell more cars if they lowered the performance and instead focused on getting better fuel economy - that's not their target market and neither is a game with safe havens EvE's target market. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930's |

I would like to see CCP fix the bug allowing accepted trades to be modified before the window closes, at least that will make trade window useful for inter-player trades. Apart from that, CCP is doing a fine job. Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

No. Let the scamming continue, it's only a game.
It has a sense of freedom like no other game, it makes you think. If you want to be pampered, it will soon get very boring. And why would you want that? It's not like it's real life, so - allow some adventure, at least in a game. |

1. If you made 320m isk to spend on a ship within 2 weeks you are not a noob, you can easily make the same money back again.
2. I made a guide a while ago that explains station trading. http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/ladyspank/urdumb.jpg
3. I do not want CCP ruining this game by pandering to people that cannot take responsibility for their own mistakes. |
