Last sunday a group of players from Ushra'Khan, CVA and Corelli corp collaborated on hosting a player run event, the first of a planned event arc. At the end of it I submitted a news report through the news submission system on the forum. All three groups 'signed off' on the report so I can safely say it was unbiased.
It still hasn't turned up. It is now a full 6 days since we submitted it.
Either the submission system is broken or we have been ignored. Which is it?

I think we have an answer to that now... ------
Pain is meant to be felt. It is meant to exist. |

It is possible that it is broken, we have been having problems lately. I guess I better bribe t20 to take a look at it. Anyway, Please feel free to send AURORA an e-mail directly at [email protected].

Edited by: Ugleb on 11/10/2005 14:46:11 You can expect to get a few from us! Thanks for the reply.
Think I'll do something 'retrospective' to plug the gap.

Edited by: Ugleb on 29/10/2005 22:23:08 We ran our second event last sunday, again we failed to get it onto the in-game news.
I had a little rant on our planning forum, opened a dialog to talk about what we were doing wrong and Kiruren from CAIN quoted this:
Quote: We do not ask, nor want you to submit pre-written news pieces. We have our own reporters to write the news pieces; unfortunately if a piece is submitted that is pre-written as a news piece it will not be used. All you need to do is basic facts û if a reporter requires more information they will contact you in game to obtain the information.
Every piece submitted wonÆt make it onto the news, which is just an unfortunate fact û however each and every piece is read and passed onto the reporters.
Moving onto the second topic, we have a mailing list called [email protected] where players can submit the following;
o) Ideas for Events o) Fiction submission
We welcome submissions for Events, and we do not expect fully fledged event proposals. However some of the submissions we have received recently start along the lines of;
ôAnd then use a titan for à. XYZö
Or
ôJust put 150 actors hereö
Unfortunately, as much as I would love to û I cannot justify large scale events for every single person that sends in suggestions in this manner. The larger, full on scale events have to be reserved for CCPÆs usage and furthering Prime Fiction. Events that involve any prime entities are also likely not to be used unless they are of extremely good standard.
Submissions we receive may in turn be adopted as full on events, or we may just offer you advice on how best to pull off your event. Not every event within EVE requires spawning powers û sometimes just a few well placed news pieces can help you in your venture. EVE is about the content you guys create, if we can help you with that û its all good.
Ah ha.
Both of our submissions were pre-written reports. Now we had all signed off on the reports for balance, they didn't boast by the winners or make huge claims. I think they were well written. Unfortunately we weren't aware of those rules when we submitted them and I still haven't found the thread where that quote comes from.
But the really annoying thing is that no-one emailed me back to tell me that the submissions were invalid. That really does wind me up.
One the two major reasons I had for started the arc project was to promote roleplay and roleplay groups within EVE. Alot of players aren't aware that organised roleplay groups even exist let alone who they are. We are two events and alot of work in to our arc and we're failing dismally to get it out to the wider audience it was intended for. At a time where CCP acknowledges its lack of man power to run events we should be getting a leg up to fill the gap.
Eve needs more player run events, and we need a little encouragement. Did no-one have the time to tell me I was submitting news submissions incorrectly? We have effectively wasted two events already.
With one thing and another it feels like we're pushing up hill with an apathetic lead weight shackled to our collective ankle. We're trying to add a little content to the game without asking anything from devs but a copy paste onto the news, surely we should be getting some encouragement?
EDIT - The quote is from Nebulai.
The 2nd major reason for the event arc btw was 'fun'. The pilots involved so far seem to be enjoying it at least.
Come to think of it reason 3 would be to stoke the coals on the the Vitoc Cure storyline which CCP ran months ago and hasn't been finished presumably due to the man power shortage. Our arc is playing around the prime fiction but fear not, we are avoiding impacting on it and simply expanding around it.

When you submit news it does not show your e-mail adresse so they have no way to return the mail and explain they do not report on pre written news.
I suggest next time you submit an event, you give a summary of what happend, where it happend, who was involved and who they can contact further together with a e-mail address if you want to be contacted if anything happends.
Although the IC do like it to show up for some events and see with their own eyes what was going on
I heart all, some more then others though. |
