I and some other pilots, thought it would be fun to see just how good the best pilots in eve are when we bring them to the ship level as the majority.
We are sponsoring a frigate duel and would like anyone who has soverignty in 0.0 sec space to please allow us to hold our matches there. If not tell us a good place to hold them.
The rules are as follows: Only tech 1 frigates allowed. any and all modules you feel like fitting on it. No pod killing, if you target a pod you will be podded yourself.

This is a very interesting idea. How is it at a level, though, if some can use modules that others might not have?
Would you restrict it in any way, or are people with high engineering and electronics skills, as well as the money for seriously bigtime fittings, at a serious advantage?
Will there be rounds? Will it be free-for-all or gangs, or single?
I'd have a lot of questions about it. Are you still planning to run it? ________________________________________________ Everyone has the right to be ignorant, if they should so choose. But they should at least be given the choice. |

wat u do is restrict it to t1 non named fittings.
maybe split it into weight class.
ie (sp) your skill piloting, we all know our ships record our skill in piloting in something called 'skill points'

The other way to keep things even is to also ban certain modules in the new player class, so that at the "Lightweight" level things like EW and dampers are not available, but are fully legal in the "Heavyweight" class.

great idea! Also, would recomend the SP classes, b/c a frig-specialized char can really do more damage than you think. -------------------------------------------

The smallest viable number of ships in a Frigate tournament is probably going to be 16, which is probably enough ships to swarm a single ship no matter how lightweight they are going to be.
Apart from the minimum numbers, you also are going to need a ship euquipped with a Ship Scanner (to enforce the T1 tech restrictions), as well as a remote armour repairer and a shield transporter. You'll also need a hauler to provide ammunition for between bouts as well as probably a small frigate equipped with an MWD to retrieve cans from the battlefield (storing them in the ammo hauler), because a missile boat like a Kestrel tends to destroy their opponents, even if victory conditions state that the first pilot down to structure loses.
The other thing is, do you allow refitting of ships between combats? If so, do you allow only a certain number of extra modules for this sort eventuality?
Are you running just a single ship duel? Or are you also running a free-for-all after the individual duels? If so, you are going to have to insist that pilots bring at least two ships, because it is inevitable that they are going to lose one somewhere along the track.
Running a frigate tournament within a corp is actually quite fun, and because there are no security restrictions, you can run them in quite high sec environments. It is quite eye opening to see who is the most effective when you are all limited to a certain level of gear. It is also quite interesting to see pilots setups, as sometimes the most effective shipfits come right out of left field.

I am looking for a suitable area to hold this event as well as looking for people for security to protect the frigate duelers. When I complete the planning stages of this I will eve mail all of you and give details and work it out so it coincides with the majority's schedules.
On the tournament itself. I would like to have 3 on 3 battles with the finale to be a one on one from the two ladders.

I regret to inform you that I have to remove my efforts to organize this little fun fight. I have more important matters to attend to at this time. If anyone reading this would like to take over the idea and hold this event I will not be offended.
