Disclaimer: I looked back over a few pages of posts and didn't see this idea, so fprgive me if it's been brought up and beaten to death.
There should be some way to designate the next skill that you want to start studying after the one you're working on now.
Like a lot of people, I try to train the long skills while I'm at work, and work on the short skills while I'm logged in. As a result, I've got some low skills that I haven't advanced to lvl 2 yet because I'm not on enough. And it's really frustrating, too, when I've got 12M 30S left on a skill I really need, but I have to leave for work and won't be back for 10 hours or so.
So, let's introduce a "Skill Queueing" skill that allows you to designate a skill that you'll automatically start sudying after you complete training the one you're on now. The levels of the Skill Queueing skill would designate how far out you can identify the follow on skill.
For example: I study Skill Queueing to level 1, which allows me to designate follow-on training up to 30 minutes out. I've got 12M 30S left on a skill I really need, but I have to leave for work. I'll just queue up a nice long skill to start up after that one, and head off to work happy.
The next day, I have 35M 27S left on a skill that I really need, but again, I have to leave for work. Tough cookies, Calahart. Either hang out for another five minutes, or study the next level of Skill Queueing to increase the time allowed for queueing.
Thoughts? Comments? Soul-crushing, ego-destroying flames?

This idea has indeed been brought up, with a lot of heat in the past. The general consensus has been against it, because it would further enable toon farmers and because the effort it takes to switch skills to decrease wasted time is part of this unique system.
Its something to think about, how to align those skills and order them properly. Its so far from the normal grind of leveling that it isn't overly painful - fun even if you consider it.

place a time based queue system ie current skill + 12 hour 2nd skill if for any reason it finishes (quite simply past 12 hours would require u to log in and change it again) but good for those extended unexpected downtime (would remove the farmers complaint to)
ANother option is 12 hours and 1 skill maximum

yep i like this idea too, since the re-release of character manager, they still CANT get it activated as eve havent upped the server side (currently planned for later this month).........manager allowed you to see into the future how long a skill would take, BUT the ones who have jobs cant be on as much as they would like.......so YES give us a skill for AUTO_SKILL_QUEING.........why should the PvP`ers get all the fun.

the devs have repeatedly stated there will NEVER be a skill training queue.
not maybe, not in development, not under consideration. NEVER

then my suggestion ie time limited and single limited to prevent abuse needs to be considered.

Then my suggestion is to fire the devs and get new ones, players like me are the ones paying the bill... and I'm sick of having a bunch of skills sitting at the 3-6hr mark.

u cant fire them as i think its their game.
ffs i've been playing the game for 2 years now and not having a skill queue has never once been a problem.
its just a matter of planning what skills to train based on when u know u will be online.
if any of those 4-6 hours skills are that important then just train them ffs.
worst thats gonna happen is u log on a couple of hours after they finish and lose 2-3k sps.

I pay their salaries too and I say to hell with skill queues.
There, we cancelled each other out

well as posted in another thread i tryed to swap skill before i went to work as the skill was to end about 2 hours after this, but my internet was not working so i lost 6-7 hours of trianing i was lucky that my internet was up and running when i got home, but it could have been worse if it was my hardware at fault.

Yeah, but as I answered in your thread. Is it that much of a worry in your life that you miss 6-7 hours of training?
Really?
