What?...that's not true at all. With piracy you have to define it for yourself. How dirty can you be? What this dude is talking about is low sec pvpers who look for fights. Piracy can be joining corps and killing the members (AWOXing). That can make tons of money. Pick a particularly dumb looking high sec gang with very shiny stuff you would like to loot and join. When they aren't expecting it kill them, take their stuff and quit the corp when you've had enough of their sweet juicy tears. For your first one I would suggest a fairly new corp, around 10-15 members with less than 3 years and little, bad or no killboard records who say they do incursions together. People love to fit insane amounts of isk on incursion ships. If you get in and are sitting next to billions you would like to steal contact me if you need help with the actual details for the heist. If that's too scummy of a trade for ya I would suggest faction warfare. It's fun, cheap, you'll learn fast and you can make nice money off of it. Your spread sheet skills will come in handy there with the cashing in LP part of the money. And how many times can you get away with this before you're blacklisted from the whole of eve?
Uhm...some people don't mind being on black lists of the carebear corps... When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Request to CCP: Please patch stupidity out of the game for Winter 2013. Professional Forum Thread locker. |

Piracy is a dead profession really, you will find it hard to make a profit attempting to be a pirate. Pirates are usually people who get wealthy from null/w-space and get bored and want to shoot things. Does E-Uni fight in PvP As far I know the rules in E-Uni are ONLY undock while at war when we can mass blob the enemy. And they are only allowed to fight when wars happen...A simple roam is not allowed. I have been digging deeper into E-Uni lately and personally only see / hear more and more bad things about them.
NC85 wrote:J'Poll would know the answer to this one tho, so you might want to wait for his response. RvB is not a teaching corp/alliance/community. They are however quite new player friendly. Although their goal is not to teach new players in how to PvP, they have special programs (for instance: skillbook program and a ship replacement program) for new players, they have a mailinglist, chat channel and forum part specially for people new to EVE / PvP. They have loads of very very experienced guys that help new players with all the questions they have.

That would be this girl robbed us, I really am a girl in real life I don't just role play one One of the reasons I came to Eve was because it is a more mature community for a more mature game. In Wow it was like, you are a girl, how hot are you, how big are you boobs, do you even know what you are doing, why aren't you playing the Sims. Because you can't blow things up in the Sims that's why
Wow so many great discussions. Thanks Robus for the Somali Coastal Uni idea I am talking to them now getting a feel for everything they offer. Also looking at OUCH as they seem to be getting high comments as pvp training and nullsec survival corp. I am still considering everything and that includes piracy, but I am not committing to anything right now. I might become a pirate hunter for all I know lol. I am just trying to gather information. I did have fun with the exploration tutorial yesterday, although it was challenging it was fun so I might try that too. I just love how I can make this game what I want it to be!
E-Uni has been beat up a lot in this tread and I am sure they are a great corp, just I don't think they are for me. I want a corp who is going to put their members out there and try things. A corp who says you will lose ships grabs my attention because it means they let you go out and play. I do get E-Uni's rules they want to discourage Wardecs and they clearly play to win with minimal loses so nothing wrong with that. If they want to wait and send out blobs they are in their right and for those players who want to play more cautiously and learn the game they are probably great. Just that is not how I want to play. |

As far as I can tell the rules say I can't tell you to join Brave Newbies, but I can tell you I've learned a lot while I've been with them. They've usually been quick to answer my questions, and they're in no way strict about anything really. There's almost always something to fight, and BNI comms are such a hoot we have spais that don't even care about the intel. They helped me get on my feet and get started in my PVP career, with plenty of advice on fittings, tactics, etc.
The thing I like most is that we're so laid back. There's no "you must be here" or "you can't fly that" (though plenty of "are you sure you want to fly that"). Hell, we've only recently broken even on our isk efficiency because we care more about what's fun, and we're getting better at it. It lets me try out stupid fits, and generally do my own thing, while still giving something big to be a part of if I want to. |

I would advice you to look into the channel (note channel, not corp) WGOE.http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/WGoE
The WIKI needs some updating, but the public channel is correct and the moderators are listed in there. The channel is very nice if you just want to hang out once in a while, and as long as you have passed your interview you can leave and join the channel as you wish.
Hope to see you there!

The "new player friendly" tag can help identify corps, however there is a LOT of false advertising in the corp descriptions Eve can sometimes feel like Alts-Online, so you cant really judge a corp by it's members figure
"new player friendly" will differ from corp to corp some will only offer fitting and/or training advice. some will provide low to mid level skill books. some will provide you with a free ship or two. some will give you a chance to join in with fleet-based activities, from mining, missions and sleepers or pvp.
eve requires a fair bit of patience you need to decide what it is you specifically want to do and then spend time talking to people to find out if there is an averlap with what they actively do
if their long term goals include activity x, the first question you should ask is 'when do plan to start ?' if the answer is a woolly 'don't know' or 'in a few months' .... it may never actually happen |

If you are going to join a corp as a new player i would recommend an established corp. E-UNI is a great choice for learning game mechanics. As for what to do in the game. I would try as much as possible until you find something you like. |

When I started playing EvE I tried to learn it all by myself: tutorials, reading articles et cetera. After I read an article about Brave Newbies I decided to head in first with this group. Their goal: learn Eve by playing Eve and have fun doing it.
In my first week I found myself back participating on roams into null sec, wormholes and large battles. I had zero experience in these things, no skillpoints, no money, no ships. I joined the Heksodus to Rahadalon and started mining in low sec. Being on edge because every minute there was the danger of being jumped on by "pirates". Now I tackle unexpected "pirates" with mining ships and join the feast of killing them after the fleet has warped in.
We Newbies learn and play and have fun doing it: and we are only just beginning.
I think EVEuni, Red vs Blue, BNI and others are all fine to join if you want to learn the game. The differences between them, I think, has more to do with the larger plan of each individual corporation. It is up to you to figure out which team, with the right attitude fits your attitude best.
Have fun and 7o from a Brave Newbie!

Thanks to everyone who helped me I did decide to join Brave Newbies. I originally joined another corp but it was small and very little action and was in the wrong timezone so I decided to go with Brave Newbies. Trying to get to their home system was so much fun and crazy. I have learned if you join Brave Newbies all of a sudden High Sec is not safe at all. It was so tense trying to get to their home system running from war targets, while being taunted by them when I ran into a station to come out and fight. Sorry this girl is not going to give you a free easy war kill When I made it their home system and saw all the green in local I literally breathed a sigh of relief. I am not sure a game has ever had my heart pumping and adrenaline going like that, it was awesome!!
Now I just have to continue to scale the huge learning curve which is very intimidating. But this game has made me have a completely different level of fun and I have no doubt I have a strong support system with Brave Newbies. Look out if you are in low sec as I get better you had better get blue status because I will be happy to shoot you with my fleet if not |

There are countless 'new corporations' with big ambitions and very little means of achieving them.
Your best bet is to situate yourself in an established corporation. While you're new it can be invaluable to have the knowledge of experienced players and infrastructure that comes with an established corporation. |
