Hello all,
Quick question regarding Odyssey skill changes and my WH dwelling cap pilot.
As I've kept them locked into the WH I've never trained Jump Fuel Conservation or Jump Drive Calibration that are set to become prerequisite skills.
Quote:Adding the Jump Fuel Conservation skill at 4 as prerequisite Adding the Jump Drive Calibration skill at 3 as prerequisite (which itself requires the Jump Drive Operation skill trained at 5)
What will happen following the patch? Will I no longer be able to fly my carrier?
Thanks.
PS. Apologies if this has already been answered I have searched the forum but couldn't find the answer. I know CCP state if you could fly it before you'll be able to fly it after but what happens with these skills? |

You are more likely to get a response to this kind of question in General Discussion, though if I had to venture a guess you will be awarded the prerequisite skills and any of -their- prereqs you were missing for free.
The Devs have always wanted to keep people in their ships to minimize outrage when prereqs change like this, though the idea of certain characters suddenly being awarded these skills for free might cause grumbling. Yours is an edge-case, as the vast majority of carrier pilots have trained these skills anyways. Hopefully you can get a definitive answer. Hossenfeffer. |

I read that if you can fly it now you can fly it then. The mechanics are that the game looks for the ship skill (carrier) and not the prereqs. But if you want to train a second races carrier you will have to train all the prereqs. |

I thought the game looked for all the skills? Otherwise, you could just train the carrier skill and jump straight in as the prerequisites for the carrier skill differ from the carrier itself.

Thanks for the advice! As for the location, sorry, new to this.
Hopefully I'll be able to get an answer. |

You will still be able to fly your ship, despite not have all of the secondary and tertiary skill req's
you will not be given any skills to ensure you can still fly your ships. |

Thanks for the response - can you explain how you're able to fly the ship without having the required skills? I'm not planning on jumping so that's fine, I just want to know how it works? |

Specifically during updates like this, any ship you used to be able to fly, you will be able to fly again. If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality.-á That 'griefer/thief' is probably more sane than you are.-á How screwed up is that? |

This is how I have understood their explanation as well. The only thing the game will look for when you go to enter a ship is whether or not you have the primary skill trained to at least 1. You may not be able to use all the modules for that ship, or jump one around in k-space, but if you somehow have the skill trained to one, you can still sit in the hull. As noted, you will not be able to inject other racial carrier skills without first training the new prerequisites.
The only noted exception to this are people who fall into odd gray areas concerning the Destroyers/Battlecruisers skills, because they are being split into racial types. |

As domanique said, you are presuming that when you attempt to enter a ship it is cross check all of the the pre-requisites against your skills which is not the case.
The secondary and tertiary skills are required for you to learn the primary, which is what the game will check. so if the pre-reqs change for the primary skills in a way that means you do not have them all it is ok because you have the primary skills already in place.

^this One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |
