So there I was sitting in a POS in a Rorqual. The Clone vat bay was online, there was ozone in the cargohold. A corpmate, who was also in fleet, was sitting 1k away in his pod, and he had a free Jump Clone slot.
When trying to invite him to install a clone, I had the message GÇ£a clone could not be created as the required systems are not online and activeGÇ¥. I could not see any menu option to activate the clone bay.
Any ideas as to why the clone could not be installed ?
Thx

First suspicion falls on the disparity between these two lines: GÇ£The Clone vat bay was onlineGÇ¥ GÇ£the required systems are not online and activeGÇ¥ GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Try moving outside of the POS bubble, the clone vat is basically like a siege module in that it stops you moving, hence i assume they follow the normal rules of not working within a POS |

Ive not used the clone bay myself, but have had others give me clones from it. As far as I know the Rorqual has to be sieged for the clone vat bay to be active as I remembering having to wait the 5 minute timer, so I presume that was because it was sieged. |

No, this can definately take place inside a POS. |

Truth. No insight beyond that but the last clone I got (within the past month) was definitely inside the bubble. |

You click the module to activate it... just like any other module.

The clone vat module requires fuel to activate: one unit of loz per cycle.
Edit: the loz has to be in your cargohold I believe. |

Just found a duplicate thread by OP in Ships and Modules forum. He says he's got liquid ozone. All I can do is tell how I do it:

Doesn't it require the Industrial Core Module to be active, i'm not sure anymore, been years since i used it.
Back in the day, your buddy has to be next your rorqual to install his clone, after that he can jump to it from a station. |

step the first - warp to POS step the second - stop moving step the third - activate Clone Vat Bay 1. You have a few minutes to finish (or start a second cycle then) step the fourth - get fleet mate(s) to within 1,000 m of the rorq. step the fifth - invite them to install a clone. step the sixth - tell them to and dock up in station. step the seventh - have them JC back to the rorq (note: you may have needed to start a second timer if they're slow). step the eighth - they have to wait twenty four (24) hours to get back to the original clone.
notes: 1. With Clone Vat Bay Operation level 1, the Rorqual is limited to six (6) clones inside. If you've already got clones, you can't have someone make a new JC. 2. The new clone will show up 1,000,000 km from the rorq in a random location. This makes a decent safespot usually. 3. Fuel must be in either the fuel bay or the cargohold One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

So it will go ahead and create the clone even if the bay is full? That's interesting. Can the new pod be jumped to? Profit favors the prepared |

ugh, not as clear as it should have been. fixed in the other post. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

/c OP, is your computer plugged in? Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. |

Is the POS password protected and that guy is outside the shield without the password? It's the only thing I can think of short of you not turning on the module. The other failure states (no Infomorph Psychology skill, not in fleet, need 100k, more than 5000m away, etc) are quite plainly stated.
Also another tip: You can dock even when the clone vat module is active. You CANNOT dock if the industrial core is active. So you can always have the cloning process done just outside a station and dock immediately. Just make sure you hit the right button! |
