I'm a big fan of the old Elite game. One of the things that allowed my fantasy to go wild was the*****pit view. Flying in space looking from the*****pit, through the front screen to the outside world, realy makes you feel you are inside a spaceship... you're space ship.... (From the outside it could be anyone's spaceship, but from within...) Wouldn't it be nice if EVE also would contain a*****pit view, and you would be able to switch from outside to inside view?

Capsule-fitted ship doesn't have c'o'c'k-pits. Not any where the pilots can have a view anyway.
But maybe the crew has?

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 19/10/2005 17:37:20 Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 19/10/2005 17:35:23 Oh I am sure even a capsule pilot could wire himself a camera view that would emulate an ordinary ships co(c)kpit view. Similarly, a camera position tied to the front of our ships could serve to emulate said co(c)kpit view in eve. Considering it is requested every other day and would make the transition to even from other space games so much easier, I really don't see why it still has not been implemented as an option.

Maybe it shouldnt be called "cockpit view". According to the short story named "Jovian Wetgrave" every pod pilot sees through a camera drone that flys a few meters away from his/her ship. This drone gives the pilot a 360 degree view of the ship from a very flexible distance. Forget about "cockpit view" and think about a 360 degree view from the ship, the changes to the current camera mechanics would be minor(I think, I am usually wrong), instead of looking at your ship, you have a 360 degree view from your ship outwards. _________________________________________________ "Smile... tomorrow will be worse."

I think the idea of having a "cockpit view" would make the game more involved, make it feel more real. the 360 degree*****pit view is a nice idea, it would still give you the ability to see behind you like you can now, but would make you feel like you are piloting the ship, it would just be a better experience.

wouldbe cool if*****pit view and joystick support for inflight movement were introduced, like real time control of ur ship, possible scenarios would be a ceptor going through a mine field :) --- When It Absolutely Positively Has To Be Desotroyed. |

why do we have to be in a capsal why can't we just be real? I think we should have a choise and if it has penaltys so be it. most the time you get pode killed even if you where try to stay out of a fight. so what does it mater. I mean peeps like to chew up distriors with there Battalships. hell the Newbeys live expec's to live 3 secence one the battal feild any ways.

Fluffwise, pods allow for cloning; at the moment the pod is breached (ie, getting blown up), it uploads the pilot's mind to whatever station your clone is at, and you wake up in your clone. Thus, the penalty for not having a pod and a clone, is having to make a new character every time you die. :p

well if the capsules didnt exsist, or there was a choice, as soon as your ship was destroyed you would be killed as well, for good. this is because the capsules contain a device that takes a 'picture' of our brains right before the pod is popped, and tranmitted to the cloning station. without this, you would just be turned into frozen space goo and its game over...
(And on the OP's topic I am for a choice of a 'pit view, but not for joystick)

This would greatly benefit several areas of gameplay...moon-probes for instance, which must be shot AT a moon by aligning your ship with it.

where would be the use in haveing a*****pit view. it would seriously impair your ability to fight well and lag quite a bit and as was said in a ship your in a pod, and your view is the camera drone linked to your brain, flying around the outside. C0-CEO of the Phantasm constituency |

Too much lag, plain and simple, the game has already built in limits of ship agility, if your not agil enough train up Evasive Maneuvering 5

Edited by: Tarbot on 12/11/2005 16:30:17 I agree with rural, introduce the c-o-c-k-pit view please, and make flying more realistic and a more personal experience.
