First link - no. Second link - yes, fast.
Had the same problem with offline mode. Tried launching with "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe", got the "incompatible protocol" message. EVE client offered me to update, this resulted in no changes, same "offline mode" and "incompatible protocol" messages. After launching "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\Repair.exe" for two times, I could start EVE with "..\ExeFile.exe", but launcher is still dead. I'm kinda dissapointed and upset with this update. |

I notice with the new launcher that if you type in a new account name (that is, one not already on its drop-down list), the only way to get the launcher to "remember" it (so the drop down works in the future) is to click on the password field.
In other words, after typing the username, do NOT hit tab or return to get to the password field -- instead, mouse-click it. That probably should be fixed -- tab and return should work. |

Isn't it about time you had a client which supported an automated bug / crash reporting system that collected the relevant errors, crash data exceptions and so on with an option for the user to add additional "constructive comments" where appropriate.

hmmmm i see i am not alone here in la la land waiting for a fix it seems ccp will not agree they need to make. this down time is a small inconvenience, as i can go wash the bike, ride a tank or two, drink a few brews and it seems this will not yet be fixed. Well, as i see this, maybe they can move our close date to accommodate this small mess. (agree not likely)

1. Open the Terminal Application or use Finder to work your way to this path: EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/CCP/EVE
In there delete the "common.ini" file and start the client again. It will start the launcher and repair the client for you automatically.
Doesn't work for Mac, and returns this error:
Verification Failure Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client. File not found: C:\Program Files\CCP\Eve\common.ini
So I'd recommend moving as opposed to deleting it.
So how can Mac users run the repair.exe file? |

Our dev teams are indeed working on fixing the whole issue with top priority. Unfortunately in situations like these we cannot predict any ETA and giving a time frame would be very irresponsible. Be assured though that we are working as hard as possible to find a proper solution as fast as possible. As CCP Guard pointed already to further background information in this news article and in that thread. Please also accept our apologies for this unfortunate chain of events.
Perhaps this info (Along with what CCP Guard has dropped in on the conversation) should be edited into the FIRST POST in the thread, so we don't need to click through endless pages and every blue post to see what the latest status is?
CCP Guard wrote: We've put up a thread for possible workaround here as well: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238230&find=unreadNot that there's much to report that hasn't been covered in this thread. At the moment there's no solution that works for all use cases that we know of. What I can tell you is that that investigation into what is causing the massive load issues to our web servers is underway and we're not going home until this is fixed. We're really sorry for all the trouble.

What I did that worked:
1) found a link to download an old version of the repair tool 2) ran it, when prompted to get the newest version accepted 3) ran repair tool 3x (until successful) 4) launched EVE from the bin folder.
Getting the old version of the repair tool, then force updating to the latest version seem to turn the corner for me. Originally my repair tool wouldn't run at all.
Cheers. |
