I especially liked this part:
Quote: CCP Atropos noted that there had not been much feedback when the Launcher was on SiSi but some negative feedback from players when it went live. He had been expecting more CSM feedback.
One year have passed and CCP learned nothing from previous experience
Also I wonder If CSM members were aware about in-game login screen removal? How they reacted? Why no one asked for community feedback about this feature (just like with jukebox, and possibly in future with calculator\notepad)?

Malcanis wrote:Thanks for the advice on how to be a CSM member though. It's much appreciated. I actually approve this kind of member in CSM. The more ignorant dummies with superiority complex we will have in current CSM, the less votes and credibility next CSM will get.

Ranger 1 wrote:Outrage and demands for change, however, are not. I don't know how asking about CSM awareness on this matter can be considered as "outrage". CSM 8 already been in the office when new launcher was introduced on Singularity, and they should be aware about poor state of product and common unresolved issues with beta version (which we use now on TQ, without "beta" in name).
Did they sounded any concerns about SUDDEN release on TQ? How do they feel about login screen removal without any consulting with player base?

mmorpg lol wrote:This whole thread is hilarious. Want the old login screen? Just launch eve via exefile instead of the launcher. Actually posts from people who don't have any idea about incoming changes are more hilarious. "Just launch eve via exefile" will go. It stays here only as temporary failsafe solution in case something goes terribly wrong (like yesterday). There will be no new music, no new scene and you wont be able to run from evefile directly.
Now I even doubt that CCP plans to spend few hours for lazy-ass change of skybox and logo for Odyssey release - we might have old Retribution scene because no one cares anymore. -¥ |

James Amril-Kesh wrote:You can't really panic about having that stuff removed when you have no idea what's going to replace it. So tell me, when would be the right "time to panic"? When tomorrow suddenly you won't be able to load evefile.exe and launcher will remain same? Was is right time to "panic" when CCP silently removed Jukebox once and for all, because "it consumed too many developer resources"? Maybe now it's right time to panic, looking at CCP Navigator's post where he expresses dislike to calculator\notepad existence or should we wait while those tools will be gone?
But you can keep advocating every single change with happy smile ofc. -¥ |

Andski wrote:I guess it's a good thing CCP Navigator is the guy in charge of the community team and doesn't do anything relating to the client then! Unless you're thinking of another dev Thanks, was my mistake. It was CCP Explorer, not Navigator. Anyura wrote:CCP have said in the sticky thread in GD that they're looking at a way to keep the splash art and music from the old login, they're fixing the mechanics of it - what else is left to whine about? It's like finding ways of saving patient's life after doctors purposely cut his head of. CCP just rolled out unfinished tool and cut out login screen - now they can feed playerbase with "SOONGäó we're looking at it" for the next decade. After deletion of Jukebox we're getting new update to the sound system only after 7 months, most changes are internal unnoticeable, and "valuable player feedback" about fine tuning, cacophony fixes and mute in background just ignored.
"Cut feature now, develop substitute later, ignore if players forget" - that's what CCP doing. -¥ |

CCP Explorer wrote:Deprecating functionality and replacing with new and better technology that provides more options to move forward can often be challenging. But with an MMO like EVE it's necessary. That is understandable.
But I wonder if Captain Quarters will be also cut off from the game at some point? Because there is no dedicated team (someone not related must spend resources to fix or adjust things), feature is not very popular and meaningful, there is no plan to "improve technology" and now it's even not loading on first login by default. -¥ |
