Trying to figure this out. Am I missing something? The old launcher stayed open after logging on keeping access available to foumns, news, evelopedia, etc, etc all from the launcher. I found that useful and quite nice. For those of us who prefer not to use the in gamer browser for such things, this new launcher is a step backwards. First thing I noticed about the new launcher is that is it closed once you log on. What with that? Also where are those nice access menus that the old launcher had? What am I missing here? Liberating slaves wherever, whenever, and however I can. |

Does this situation remind anyone of Incarna?
CCP published a half-baked "thing" that was a guy walking around a room with a door that he couldn't open and a ledge (balconey to the ship hanger) that he couldn't jump off of...and believe me i tried lol. But that's ALL it was ,It was basically a "place holder for future awesomeness".
This new launcher is also supposed to be awesome....in the future.
Note to CCP, if you feel the itch to deploy other features that "will be awesome in the future", do us a favor and wait till the damn future when it's finished, THEN deploy it. |

If that was the point it has failed miserably as its slower to log in 6 accounts through that thing than it was before previous launcher. So I have opted to just create a direct link to the EVE/bin/ExeFile.exe which lets me avoid that slow and unwieldy thing.
Dunno, perhaps with single accounts is neat but for multiboxers it does not seem to be particularly nice thing. It's just slow, and no its not my disk thats causing that as my EVE client has its very own SSD to live on.
So you enter login details, press enter and then .. well .. then it does something and then you have to push the Play button again even though you already entered your password and only THEN can you push "switch account" to start login next char, which is after ~15 seconds of this thing doing "something". Presumably that "something" is not happening on disk as in 15 secs you can push around 6 gigs of stuff into memory from SSD and EVE takes only 1 gig of RAM and around 250 mb of video ram. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

thing is that fixing inventory system to working product is so hard that cpp decided to bring new **** feature so people stop complaining about old ones.
This launcher is much easier to fix than inventory system. |

Hate entering in credentials, hitting enter, then still having to click another button to get the client to actually start up. I know it's a pretty small thing to gripe about, but little stuff like that is why this feels like a step backwards. Hossenfeffer. |

I must say, this really makes logging multiple accounts a pain in the ass. It went from two clicks of the Play button to clicking, waiting for the first window to load, going back to the launcher, re-logging, and waiting for the second. A process that used to take ten seconds now takes over a minute. I must say, I'm not impressed. It takes some skill to screw up a loading bar and a Play button. |

With this new framework, it would take minimal effort to implement a rapid (near-instant) character swap mechanic that does not involve relogging. Considering the upcoming changes with dual-training, I wouldn't be surprised if that functionality is right around the corner. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

One thing I'd like the new launcher to have is the ability to select your character as well, so you can just go straight to space when the client launches. That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers. |

I would bet money that fact played part in now requiring you to use the launcher. The launcher was a great asset for marketing and no one was using it. So they forced us to use it. I don't care what they promise the launcher will do in the future, if it doesn't improve functionality now, but will 12 months from now, then don't release it until 12 months from now. |
