I can't find much on this subject. I see that you can be fined by a couple of corporations but do not understand how this works in game terms...
Just carry in a fast ship and or cloaker?
Does Concord attack/fine you or Customs? Can you avoid them or is the fine auto deducted from income etc.
Appreciate advice on where is there info on how to do this.
cheers
thanks

To the best of my knowledge, cloak does not benefit you with regard to avoiding customs.
Concord has customs ships so I suppose the answer would be both.
When they "catch" you, you'll receive a screen that prompts you to pay the fine. I believe they stop your ship from leaving the area once they detect contraband.
There are actually quite a few threads on smuggling/illegal goods trading. Do a search for smuggling at Eve Search
A good deal of it is theoretical with some claiming speed and instant bookmarks make all the difference. No one really seems to know if the blackmarket skill is working for certain or not (gained only at character creation as of this post).
The only proven method that works is charting your own routes with the 'my cargo illegality' filter on to try and avoid zones that could confiscate your cargo.

Edited by: Niko Lorenzio on 26/10/2005 08:10:19 I have spent many month experimenting smugling contraband. Containers, ships with contraband inside your ship, or cloaking do not work. You will get caught. I have actually developed a couple of techniques (with a friend) that allow you to smugle goods past the custom agents into Empire space, but they shall remain classified for the time being. When you get caught, depending on the severity of the violation (in volume, item, or sec space) Several things might happen. You might simply get a warning, a standing loss, a fine, confiscation or simly get blown up. -Fines are automaticaly deducted from your account. -If customs decide to confiscate your contraband, they will scramble and web your ship, and give you I think 30sec period to hand it over, otherwise they blow you to smitherines. If your ship is agile enough, you can actually warp away to a belt or a station before they have time to lock you and web you, but you will still get standing loss and the fine. If your ship is not already in warp when the promp message pops up asking you to hand over the contraband, I recomend you do it. ..unless you'd rather see it blown up than handed over to those godamn agents, like my vodka :'(
I was in the smugling business for a while... then wars broke out, and I couldn't get into Catch for me supplies for me customers :\
Heres two examples of different responses in different security systems from one of my experiments:::
=================================================
2005.03.01 15:21:00
Empire: Amarr Empire Solar System: Pashanai System Security Level: 0.5
Found Contraband:
Type: Spirits (x 2) Standing Penalty: 0.05 Fine: 1001.0 ISK
Total Standing Penalties: 0.05 Total Fines: 1001.0 ISK
================================================= As you can see, in a .5 sec sys only got fined and lost standing with the damn fanatics =================================================
2005.03.01 15:30:00
Empire: Amarr Empire Solar System: Diaderi System Security Level: 0.8
Found Contraband:
Type: Spirits (x 2) Standing Penalty: 0.05 Fine: 1001.0 ISK Response: Confiscation
Total Standing Penalties: 0.05 Total Fines: 1001.0 ISK Summary Response: Confiscation
================================================= But here, in .8 the bastards took my vodka away -={-Tovarish Gruzin-}=-

ya we are looking at a freighter load...8-17B isk in one trip...but hard to escape in a freighter....lol
We thought the workaround was to transfer all isk to another char so no fine...but 1000x the market value would be a HUGE fine...lol.
Back to inties I guess.

I'm likely missing something here, but the info in the item database does not list anyone as buying narcotics. That being the case, is the item database missing something, or is there something else that they are good for?
Besides making long trips in space more pleasant :D

AFAIK, you can not buy anything until, you are back in the positive numbers. So use a throw away Alt, if you want to smuggle in an indy. :) -- bye, Ki Shodan
