You didn't complain about anything or throw a tantrum or threaten to unsub 70 accounts so CCP will go bankrupt unless they turn the game into your own personal theme park. That'show we do things around here son and we don't like your kind, you know the "smart" and"reasonable" kind, y'all don't belong here, EVE is a trailer park in space.
On the bright side, you sure do got a pretty mouth, so based on that I guess you can stay.

Welcome aboard Yay.
Re: the friendliness, NEVER NEVER NEVER drop your guard. Enjoy playing with others but trust no-one. I have several in-game friendships that have lasted for amny years, but have lost many more. When you've been betrayed by an in-game friend of two years, when you've lost your ship to a corp-mate who turned up to a mining op in a pvp fitted combat vessel, then you know you are in EVE.
The trick for survival is to see this as all part of the game. If you get emotional about this sort of stuff, then you'll end up emo-rage-quitting like thousands of others who couldn't stand the heat and the pain.

You presented a nice face that people would like and then came to a public place seeking approval for that LCD definition. In Eve it is far more important to be able to set your own values, both on others and for yourself.

The space part of the game is okay, but the real fun is here in the forum.
This is where you'll spend most of your time while mining, waiting for the fleet to form up, gate camping, waiting out a COSMOS spawn, etc.
It can be a dangerous place here with real consequences for what you say. Best to dedicate an alt for it as a mistake here often gets you blown up in game.
A few general rules: 1) Never assume any post is serious. 2) Never start a thread unless you like abuse. 3) A quality troll is often rewarded but a bad one gets the locator agents working. 4) Never argue with Tippia unless you have a full day to waste. 5) Likes mean nothing. You need to learn who's a **** or not through exposure and experience.

The biggest mistake I made when starting eve was trying to go it alone. Didn't wanna join a player corp and I wanted to do things by myself.
I quit after a week and a half.
I came back 6 months later and cautiously decided to join a corp. almost 2 years later I'm still flying with a lot if them :D
Just remember, you and this community create the interesting content ;) The game is there to facilitate that creation :D

Welcome!
Re the "Never trust anyone", while that is very true, Eve players are also generally very helpful and patient (Always some exceptions though).
We like having new blood, and most of the things people get stuck with are things which are fairly simple for us old grumpy people to explain. Also, it makes us all nostalgic for when we were naive and starry eyed.
Generally, as long as you are not "OMG Can haz isk pl0x" or "Tell me exactly how to do X", then we are quite helpful!
As others have said, Player corps are a good way to get involved in the game, and finding what you like doing is important. Many people get put off by the lack of obvious guidance in what to do next, and that is the beauty of eve.....do whatever you want.
Want to throw cheap ships crazily at people in high sec? Go for it Want to fill a station hangar in each station with Veldspar? If thats what you have fun doing, why not! Want to get max standing with all corps in a faction? You are crazy, but why not! Want to sit in a station chatting all day while your wallet flashes? Do it! Want to run around causing havoc in wormholes? Thats fine too
And any number of things you can think of. One awesome thing about Eve Players is their ingenuity, even the terrible ideas which crash and burn in days are out of the box. |

Danni stark wrote:1) don't fly what you can't afford to lose. 2) trust nobody.
righty with those two sage pieces of advice out of the way, as you were.
While Danni's first point is spot on (of course), the second point is a bit misleading.
Many players live by the credo "Trust no one" and that's fine.
However if you want to eventually become a move and a shaker in the EvE universe the focus should instead be on "Learn to sort out the few people you CAN trust, and how far you can trust each one."
Unless you master this skill you'll have great difficulty making a large impact in game (if that is your goal). You'll learn the names of those who have soon enough. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I said once before that EVE is a game where you will find the most loyal of friends and the most dispicable of lowlifes. There are people, iv met a guy who Im confident I could trust a contract of 10 plex with no colatoral and others that I wouldnt give a rookie ship to.
As far as skills go, my advice is to get the skills that are named after the catagory, (IE the electronics skill under the electronics catagory) all to 5. Not only do they only take a few days each to max out but they cover a wide area of play and they unlock quite a few advance skills. |

Don't go spend it on 1 ship and die hilariously in it :P.

When you undock, and some times even in station, you are already PvP'ing. Just because you don't seek it out, doesn't mean it won't seek you out. Remember that you always be PvP'ing and you'll be much happier in New Eden. "Imagine the kind of stories people would read about EVE if the carebears got their wish. Thank you all for all the Welcome messages! I lol'd pretty hard when I saw some of them! I'm already pretty familiar with the trust stuff, but I'll keep it in mind! And by the way, I would actually love to buy an expensive ship and fly around with 20 plex inside! I think that that must be a pretty good strategy for making new friends! |
