I was looking at Dust 514 and it pretty much lead me here to Eve Online.
I was just wondering are there any real benefits (to my characters specifically) to playing both games in conjunction with each other each?
I know this is probably asked a lot, but I'm also pretty much checking out the community/forums/etc while posting this.
Thanks guys! |

as of now, i am not aware of any direct synergy between the two games, at least not for a singular player. the only place where eve and dust intersect right now is capturing systems in faction warfare which is a group effort.

EVE and Dust are linked to the same server.
But your EVE character cant do anything directly on the planet but PI and your dust player cant do anything in space. You will have two seperate chars.
But you wont get much benefits from having both (maybe a bit if you are in FW). When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Request to CCP: Please patch stupidity out of the game for Winter 2013. Professional Forum Thread locker. |

there is the faction warfare support mentioned in the post above as well as capturing districts and even whole planets in the name of your corp / alliance. currently claiming sovereignty over a district for your corp is limited to one region of space in lowsec so that the game devs can asses the impact dust can have in a region and balance out the system before they allow capturing of districts across lowsec and eventuality nulsec.
currently interaction is in the form of orbital bombardments as well as the fact that corps exist in both dust and eve and therefore can have members from both games. the corps also share chat channels between the games, both default corp/alliance chat as well as any custom moderated channels that you may have. wallet divisions are separate between a corps dust and eve side for the time being to prevent wealthy eve players from providing massive amounts of funding to their favorite dust mercs until the economy is dust is able to support proper trading mechanics and not just npc buy orders.
if your looking to explore the eve universe from a different perspective (slower pace yet much more strategic in nature) then give it a shot but if you are expecting to hand millions each day to your dust merc then you will have to wait quite a while for that as dust isn't ready to be plugged into the full open market of eve. |

Right now, there's limited interaction between the game. A few bonuses that EVE players get from having a planet controlled by their DUST friends, and the ability to provide orbital strikes to DUST mercs on the ground.
However, give it enough time, and that'll likely be fleshed out substantially. I anticipate battleship- or dreadnought-grade firepower being available in the next few years to DUST soldiers on the ground, as well as anti-ship weapons being deployed on the surface of planets. There's a lot of potential there, and being able to play both sides of the game could be handy. 10 Thoraxes, 3 Minutes Star Fraction vs. Band of Brothers - An Inside Perspective

If you're into EVE Faction Warfare and part of a Dust corp then sure. You can do orbital strikes and get benefits in Molden Heath for holding districts? I don't know how that works though Dust forums are probably a better place to ask about it.
I also don't know if those benefits are that great because I don't FW or Dust but there are a couple at the moment. |

Thanks for the replies all.
I'm rather glad there are no direct benfits, seems like it would be too hectic to try to, essentially, play two MMO's at the same time. Appreciate it! Looks like I'll just continue down the same path I am now, which is trying both out and see how I like them. I like the complexity of this game and it's completely different from any other MMO I've played.
I haven't touched Dust 514 too much yet. |

Because there really isn't much overlap, and both games are essentially different games, it is more about multitasking between the two more than anything else. Play Dust as well if you like that type of game, or just play Eve. It is going to be a good 6 months minimum I would assume before Dust sees any major increase in mixing into Eve. DUST is pretty... mediocre as a shooter at the moment, it's essentially Planetside with even more annoying RPG elements.
So, no. You should play Eve and Tribes: Ascend instead.

Thanks guys! Afaik there is no benefit atm but there will be a way to trainsfer isk between them i think, after the economy is sorted out, main advantage would be - fun. |

I play both(started with just Dust) but play them for different reasons I think. If nothing else I find it awesome to have these different windows into the same living universe. And as a bonus I get to chat and play with the same group of friends no matter which side of the atmosphere I'm on. |

I believe I saw a video about having a gold membership if you play dust and eve. And some mention of additional features down the line. Haven't played dust yet. I may give it a try once I can aim a cheap ship at a target. Set it on autopilot/repeating fire. And air drop guns ablazing. |

Oh my...that was a joke. Autopilot and repeating fire you say?...were you going to use the Peniship in this video for that?

The only upside i can think of for having eve and dust accounts is so that one day when you realize that dust was a total waste of your time you have the option of shoving your dust guy in the airlock and flushing him into the deep cold of space. If you are lucky, you'll be able to talk other dust bunnies into the far away "hot drop", like in the sun.
Freaking dust bunnies, i'm telling you we need to wipe them out before they infest all the planets. |

Last fanfest there was some talk about future links. They wanted (and may still want) transactions between EVE and DUST. First with ISK going EVE -> DUST and then the other way around a little later. The markets will become one eventually, with industry/production links in both directions. There was no deadline mentioned tho. However, it might be a good idea to build up some ISK on the EVE side before they open that link or you will be crushed by long time EVE players who happen to have DUST accounts as well.

Dust is currently not where either CCP or the players want it to be. Check it out and see what you think because, as always, your miles may vary.
Personally, I'm currently focusing more on EVE and waiting for the Dust to settle (bad, I know, but intended) with Dust. |
