How to do it wrong: Make a solo player animation and remove the gate animation effect that was seen by all the players when a gate was activated form the other side.
How to do it wrong: focus on graphics in a strategy game.
How to do it wrong: Make a 1 hour downtime during a Saturday and only 10 minutes during the week days :)

Reactivated an account to see if that goofy LOLWarpTunnelEffect had been tweaked or if we had been given an option for a "fade-to-black" transition. I saw in some patch notes that it had been "tweaked", but I don't see any noticeable difference, other than the tunnel flows in directions other than "forward", and is pixelated, garbled, and twisted during most jumps.
It's not my drivers or my PC causing it, both PC's I used to play EVE on give the same results. I also see no option to enable a "fade-to-black" transition or to disable the animation entirely
It seems CCP is sticking to their "no cop-out" stance. I just don't see where giving loyal customers several different options so they can customize their client and gameplay experience to their liking as being a "cop-out".
I think this has ALOT to do with CCP's corporate culture. In emerging, second world progressive countries like Iceland, providing a good, stable product and the customer service to make it succeed usually takes a back seat to the endless direction changes taken in favor of someone's "vision". Also, they don't seem to care if they lose subscriptions or not.
Many egalitarian-centered societies usually frown on their companies making exorbitant profits, maybe that's why they have the "our way or the highway" attitude they all have when dealing with the playerbase, but that's just speculation and digression...
Anyway, here to scope things out for another 30 days... Fly safe!
Quick tip: For those who are especially prone to vertigo and motion sickness, F10 is your friend. With a little tweaking, the overview is a more than sufficient tool to navigate with.

Personally I didn't mind Eve without the poncification of the jump graphics, nor does it hugely offend me. I just think the time could have been better put to use in fixing things that genuinely need fixing...like POS management. |

Please stop forcibly moving & panning the camera directly following gate activation.
The "c" option to disable camera tracking of selected objects does not halt the panning of the camera during the stargate jump activation sequence, following the use of the jump button. |

My only issue with it is the camera rotation. As a pvper, the pretty graphic is not nearly as important to me as keeping an eye for as long as I can on what's going on around me. Losing camera control in favor of eye candy is not cool.

On the other hand I am a relly big fan of the ability to choose and customize how you want your game to look (grafics and UI) . I have always found lack of custom UI and lack of settings to be a big flaw in EVE :/ It seems like CCP is having a "It's either or"-approach which I find very funny for a company that specializes in sandbox xD |

I don't blame you for not reading through this whole mess, but If you had read the thread, you would have seen that with a lot of people, it wasn't the first reaction that was the problem - it was the second, third, fourth, etc., as after multiple jumps, especially in sequence, it tends to get a bit tedious and repetitive, and people just get tired of it.
Add to that that there is a segment of the playerbase experiencing adverse physical reactions to the animation: headaches, dizziness, nausea, etc., especially when the animation is viewed multiple times in succession, as when travelling through several systems.
And yes, the camera rotation is one very annoying component of this for a lot of people, as is the shift to first-person perspective, something which does not exist anywhere else in this game. Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Another patch and still no "fix".
The only fix is a persisting on/off button for the gate jump visuals and autoscan visuals. FFS get it done soon. |

Just reinstalled the game. WTF were they thinking with this animation? Whipping the camera around and shooting you through a tube of flashing lights. Only CCP could come up with something so dumb and then defend it. |
