If you are new to EFT or have a question check >>FAQ.txt<< before asking here. This little document covers few questions which have been asked multiple times already.
Known issues:
- Mining Foreman Mindlink do not applies his bonus in some cases. It is recommended to plug it into some character with Character Editor and use this character as Squad\Wing\Fleet Commander for mining yield bonus to apply.
- It is possible to use 6 gas cloud harvesters in EFT while in game only 5 can be activated at once with max skills.
- <..> Strategic Cruiser and Thermodynamics will be listed in affecting skills of <..> Engineering - Supplemental Coolant Injector subsystems. This is display issue only.
- Mining Laser Crystals do not list all their skill requirement due to ore reprocessing skills are not included in EFT database
Version which supports new API will be available soon. |

If there is no "FitList.html" present in EFT directory after you run EFT it may be due to UAC and simpliest way around it would be to move EFT folder in some place other than "Program Files".

Those implants work for me. Are you sure you're adding them to the setup and not to the character because otherwise character-specific implants will be overriden by setup-specific implants? |

And it's surprising to see Pyfa authors making such assumptions about EFT code without knowing for sure, especially when their assumptions are wrong.
As to which is correct it's up to you to check in game. Just keep in mind that there are factors which are hard to account for: server node load which has been known to affect capacitor usage and staggered module activations. First is almost impossible to investigate and simulating second one would require clumsy interface with a timeline for module activation markers to allow user to specify exact moments when modules are activated.

Crucible version is available.
pmchem wrote:For EFT: the mwd-running calculations were close, but a bit too optimistic as far as cycling mods goes. EFT and pyfa both assumed the abaddon had infinite cap booster charges. In reality, the abaddon has 525m3 of cargo space. The heavy cap booster 2 can load 10 charges of cap booster 400 and fit 32 in a non-expanded cargo hold. It just runs out of cap charges. This should probably be considered a bug, as the program could estimate max # of cap boosters available without getting more from a can. This problem is pretty obvious to anyone who has ever theorycrafted a setup with cap booster 800s (which are pretty bulky). I can't say this is a bug because I never claimed EFT counts cap booster charges. To simulate this you need take into account containers which people use to store cap charges inside the cargohold and weapon charges which also take up some room. At some point I was working on ability to specify all the stuff one could put in the cargohold and on the new capacitor algorithm which would also take that into account but got bored of it and never finished. Also testing showed that difference between new and old algorithms is negliable.
Ok, I'll try to update capacitor calculation later because it's almost fininshed (but not the cargohold stuff) but can I ask why such precision matters to you? It's not like you can finish real ingame fight with up to few seconds accuracy to avoid yourself running out of cap and for uses where you just compare what is better to fit like "cap recharge rig" or "mwd-less-cap-use rig" errors introduced by capacitor calculation should cancel each other out.
DJB16 wrote:in EFT there is an option under File / Prefrences called *include reload time in dps* if unticked it might cause the infin charges in booster issue ur seeing (i might be wrong but worth a try) This option affects only DPS calculation. This looks really ugly. Nothing in relation to how icons are displayed has been changed recently so it's very strange if you had it ok with previous version.
Make sure you have EFT.exe.manifest file present in the EFT folder. Also, you need 32-bit (true color) desktop color depth for icons to display correctly. For the systems without support of alpha-blended icons there is an option in the Preferences to use High-color icons as a workaround which can improve their look somehow.
Aldahen wrote:Question: How do I import gazillion .cfg files from old version of EFT the easy way? Moving all the .cfg files to EFT\Setups folder should work. It may not work for you if you put your EFT into Program Files and have UAC enabled.
Another way to do this would be XML import: there is an option in "File->Import/Export to EVE" menu to "Save all setups to one XML file". Then you'll be able to import this file to new version easily.
FitList.html has nothing to do with setup saving - it's just an automatically generated html page which allows easy access to all you fits ingame through ingame browser. |

When you go into the display options and select the custom colors the high, med, low, etc items, each of the 5(?) squares don't show a color, and when you select it, the default color the dialog box comes up with is black. Nothing has been changed in EFT in this regard. You may try to reset all settings (delete config.ini in EFT folder) if you haven't already. I can only guess that something (like a Windows DLL which responsible for UI drawing) changed on your system as a result of Windows update or setup of some other software. Sorry, I don't have other ideas.

Any ideas? Look a bit above for Long Nu posts. You may face same issue - putting EFT to Program Files folder with UAC enabled may mess up things as UAC silently redirects file operations to other place. Easiest way to avoid this is to move EFT out of Program Files.

When I create a setup in EFT I get initially 20343.75. Then if I add the implant my PG decreases to the correct (in-game) value: 19568,75. Cephas Borg wrote:...long post... About module slots: you can enable different colors in the Preferences to be used to denote module slots. It's easy to add slot information but it's not like every module use different slot - in EVE modules are split in a few large groups which use same slot (like weapons use high slots, shield stuff goes to med, armor to low... etc) so I think it requires just a few days of practice to remember them all and by then additional slot type line will become redundant for you. At least that was my logic why I haven't added slot info and judging by almost lack of complaints about this I seem to be right.
About the reasons why you can't fit something: there is only one case when you can't fit a module and no explanation dialog box appears - it's when you have no turret or launcher slots for it. Yes, it isn't very user friendly but there is a reason for that: weapons are usually fitted either by rapid double clicks or by fitting shortcuts and if there would be a dialog it would be spawned every time user fills his highs with guns.
Mining? Whats wrong with it? I don't recall any problems.
Price updates are disabled by default. You need to enable them in the Preferences.

For the titan fit: There is no such thing as a cap stability with the module which uses almost one fifth of total ship capacitor. What kind of number do you want to see? However, it appears that the really important part -- time to invulnerability -- may be correct on the wiki and pyfa, but not in EFT. What do you think? Should this be changed in EFT? I had some talks about this with Entity. They don't care about client part of simulation while I didn't want to rely solely on their interpretation of logserver logs. But question of align time definitely needs to be reviewed - by the tests I've done so far align time is indeed takes up whole amount of seconds and it's very strange that nobody noticed that until this moment (who knows, maybe it was changed just recently by some work CCP does under the hood?).

I have attempted to get the key to work several dozen times.
What is up with that? Old API key support was discontinued quite a long time ago so you need to use new customizable keys. What error message exactly do you get when trying new key? (You can copy error message by pressing Ctrl+C when message appears). |

Why is this? Bug or some confusing way the overheat works? Seems to be a very edge case. MWD and Invulnerability Field have 10 second long cycles and Warp Disruptor has 5 second cycle so quite often activation cycle will end at the same moment for multiple modules and at that case heat damage will be applied in the order modules are fitted. One module can get fully damaged, go offline, start acting as a heatsink and allow other modules to survive for one cycle longer. Thus in such case module order can influence results slightly.
Swift Shifts wrote:And while I'm here I'd like to throw a suggestion. I want to be able to search the abbrevations i use ingame. Looks redudant to me. If you use module often you can just add it to favorites folder (did you know that you can create subfolders there?) and if you use it not so often it should be no problem to type few more letters in the search field. If you can't remember exact name of some named module variant you can just search or pick from favorites base TI or TII variant and use "Open Market Group" command to list all the similar modules. But since CCP eliminates unique module names last case wouldn't be a problem in the future.

The module uses 150 MW. Fitted (in-game) powergrid usage is 52.5 MW. EFT PG usage is 210.0 MW. You are confusing Medium with the Large variant. Medium 'Solace' uses 150 MW and 52.5 when fitted on Oneiros. Large one uses 600 MW and 210 MW when fitted on Oneiros.
pmchem wrote:Using 2.14.8, target painters are handled oddly in falloff situations. My understanding is that when outside optimal, there is a chance the paint "misses". EFT's DPS graph seems to assume the paint will *always* miss outside optimal range, even if it's only 0.1 km outside optimal and in fact would have a very very high chance to successfully paint. Perhaps dps at a specific distance should be handled by expected value of [(paint chance)*(dps with) + (1-(paint chance))*(dps without)] at a given distance? ... Yes, target painter effect is not applied in the falloff on the graphs. Solution you propose was discarded in the initial graphs design as it would trick people into thinking that EW modules in the falloff work in the same way as turrets and gradually reduce their effectiveness. I don't see current state as a big issue because painter on itself is a quite "weak" module and using it in the falloff is almost pointless. For the cases where target is painted from the other ship than one dealing damage you can always apply painter on the target setup using Projected Effects.

Alternatively, is there a way to enter pilot info manually? Maybe by editing some config file manually? Thanks! By default EFT uses system-level proxy settings (configurable in Windows Control Panel > Internet Options). If you wish to override that you can add "Proxy_Server=ProxyServerName" and "Proxy_Port=ProxyPortNumber" lines to the "config.ini" file in EFT folder.
If you choose to use latter option make sure to use 2.15.1 version of EFT because in the previous versions there was a problem with this.

This is a popular request but what is easy for the cap recharger is much more complex for example for weapons or mining lasers as their fitting requirements can be affected by other modules\rigs\ship bonuses and degree of such effects depend on character skills. Thus, often there is no quick way to say "this module would fit" without actualy fitting it and recalculating entire setup, and doing so with every module would be quite slow. |

I am mainly wondering if CCP releases detailed information on ships/modules ahead of a release for 3rd party developers or do 3rd part developers have to sit in the dark until each patch release as obviously this would dramtically affect release dates. Usually it takes few days to make an update (sometimes up to a week) and depends on my free time, my mood, amount of changes in EVE and amount of unfinished stuff in EFT which needs eigther to be finished or be rolled back for the next time. CCP were not making latest information available before but afaik they are aiming to improve that and this time they've made static data export as well as actual patch on the singularity available before release and it is definitely helps. |

To Mortrius: Nothing has been changed drasticly between 2.18.2 and 2.19.1 so if first runs fine for you second must too. I may suggest checking your antivirus if you use one. Also if you moved your setups and configuration files from older version to newer one you may want to try clean copy of new version without them first to see if it runs ok.
To export your fit to EVE: 1) If you made some changes in current working session, select "File > Import/Export to EVE > Update HTML setups library" 2) Select "File > Import/Export to EVE > Copy path to HTML setups library" 3) In EVE open ingame browser and paste copied path to address box and press enter. 4) In opened page find setup you want to import. Or 1) Open setup you want to export to EVE in EFT 2) In setup menu (one which opens when you click down arrow next to setup list) select Export to XML 3) In opened dialog box pick any existing XML file to append your setup to this file or click save stright away to create new file 4) In EVE open fitting window, click Browse, then Import, then pick previously saved file and click Import |

Perhaps if you make this feature available, make us able to create multiple and save them, so we can open our "shield tanking palette" and fill it with invulns, extenders, tracking enhancers etc. There is a Favorites folder for that purpose on the Fitting Panel where you can drag modules to. It is also possible to create subfolders there and even hide standart market tree as at least for me Favorites+Search is enough.

The big difference is between eVe and EFT ... I won't trash my implants just to test it but when I remove them in EFT I'm back to the 1min 19secs instead of the 5 mins ... EFT does not import hardwiring implants as they are not listed by API so you should double-check which implants you have in game and EFT. It isn't possible that you could have that much difference only because of one 5% implant. Looking at your numbers it seems like you have both "Energy Systems Operation EO-605" and "Energy Management EM-805" implants in EFT while 4% and 5% implants ingame.

So everything matches except predicted capacitor time? Then it's probably because EFT averages module capacitor consumption while fitting screen ingame seems to use capacitor in bursts.
You can confirm this by undocking and checking actual running time by pumping station shields for example. If you enable all the modules at once you should get what EVE says while if you stagger module activations you'll probably get EFT predicted time.

Any suggestions? Difference is exactly 3% so it seems you are missing hardwiring implant in EFT. Pay attention to fact that in EFT you can specify implants both in Character Editor and as a part of setup and latter would override former. So for example if you have +3% powergrid implant plugged on the character and +3% CPU implant (which goes into same slot) added to setup only +3% CPU implant will work.

For fits like yours where delta between peak capacitor recharge and capacitor consumption is that low and modules can use relatively large chunks of capacitor, depletion time is largely dependent on the way how you stagger module activations. Ingame fitting screen seems to assume "all-at-once" activations and basically showing worst case while EFT algorithm uses average capacitor consumption and shows best case.
In your case actually EFT is being too optimistic and gives biggest error I've ever seen probably because of small frigate capacitor capacity. Worst case according to simulations I run should be around 2 minutes and 41 seconds and best case is 5 minutes and 18 seconds. |

Shienaran wrote:A superb work as always Gripen. I've posted a few times with the following suggestions, but not seen a response about it so I'll just renew them. ... Thanks and sorry but I can't answer every suggestion since most of such answers would be either "makes sense, adding to to-do list" (or "already planned") or "I don't think it's necessary" and I doubt many people interested in technical details or prioritization reasons while explaining them takes time (omg I'm talking like CCP now ). For some rare cases where I don't understand purpose or use case behind suggestion I ask for details but most are pretty straightforward.
1) Makes sense but low in priority and little bit more complex than it seems: in EFT items assigned metagroups automatically according to faction\officer keywords in their names (and ships don't have those) because when I implemented such separation there was no such thing in EVE (iirc). 2) This has been requested few times and I'd like to make it possible but can't came up with a suitable UI: you can't drag and drop items in dropdown list to change their order, adding "move up" and "move down" menu items to setup menu would be inconvenient to use and their function may not be very clear for average user. Creating entire new separate window with all setups shown as plain list with drag and drop support seems to be too much effort for such purpose. I have one idea but it depends on another feature which needs to be finished. 3) New deployables were added in latest release. Ice could be added easily to context menu but I don't want to overbloat it. Proper way would be to list it on the fitting panel and make it possible to add items to cargohold from there but once again it's a bit more complex and not that high in priority. |

To be honest I've never ever seen such thing as sortable drop down list in any application and even have no idea how it's supposed to distinguish between user left clicking to select an item and left click to initiate dragging. Of course everything is possible with custom controls but question is if it worth additional work and possible issues on different systems and considering that such functionality will be not very clear to most users.

Since you already got all data in the tool, the only thing missing would be a compare window to show it. I don't feel like it would be useful for most players: progression of T1 => Meta1-3 => Meta4 and T2 => Faction => Deadspace/Officer is pretty much the same for all modules and once you get a gist of it you don't need such extensive comparison options.
Sean Crees wrote:For some reason the claymore is showing a base speed without any modifiers of 21 m/s...
The only thing i did differently last night was have it set as a fleet booster for itself and other ships, i hadn't been doing this before yesterday. Maybe closing the program while having it set that way screwed up in speed? Maybe other stats are screwed too just not as obviously? "Base speed" would be one you read from Show Info window opened from Fitting Panel once you find Claymore there. And it can't be 21 m/s and you can't screw it up in any way as EFT never writes to the files where this data is contained.
So I assume you have some setup opened and if it still shows you such speed even after you restart EFT it must be because of something you have fitted... like a cloak maybe. Provide a screenshot it you still can't figure it out.

To link the fittings i had to generate xml files, i cannot send the raw text through evemail so my mates can copy paste it directly into their eft. To get a fit as a text you don't need to open any files: there is "Copy to clipboard" command in the setup menu (one which appears when you click downward arrow to the left of the new setup button).
Regarding the files: if they would not be created you'd lose your setups. If you don't miss any (and I doubt it's possible to save OK for some while fail for others) you've probably just couldn't find those files among the rest or something.

The different coloured lines would show up so much more clearly. Also it'd be nice if there were a color key added to show what the lines on the DPS graphs relate to. Making them black will cause problems to people using dark colors for background so there is no easy solution. To figure out which graph corresponds to which ship you can click anywhere on the graph line to select it and read text below the graphs area.

Secondly, the whole import/export thing; it doesn't work. I saved my fittings on my home computer with the all xml option, then I bring them to work. It doesn't matter where I put the file, I cannot get xml manager to see it, let alone bring it in to EFT. Rating is explained in EFT FAQ. It's not shown for actively tanked setups because it's not applicable in such case (rating in such cases isn't a fixed number but a function of incoming DPS).
If you want to move your data from one EFT copy to another look for recommended way of updating in the FAQ for explanation which files you need to copy. Of course you can move just your setups with XML but this feature intended purpose is to import and export to EVE client so it looks for XML files only there where EVE client can save them to or read from: [MyDocuments]/EVE/fittings. |

- XML import was changed to be more tolerant to file syntax - Additional attribute columns can be added to Fitting Panel now to make it easier to compare items. To do so, right click any attribute in Show Info window and check "Show on Fitting Panel". Any amount of attributes can be set to be shown but amount of additional columns is limited to seven, thus it could be possible that not every attribute will be displayed.

And what's a point? It's useful for item comparison while numbers from fitted items are better reflected in setup stats. There is no point to display individual weapon damage when you can see total dps, there is no point to display amount of shield restored by shield booster when you can see tanked dps and so forth...
I wonder what exactly people would like to display there. There were requests to add tracking column for example but tracking is such a thing which you can't interpret on alone without turret signature and optimal at least, so displaying it would be useless. It could be useful for displaying stats of various remote assisting modules or EW but I plan to display those along with other setup stats someday. |

EFT just like EVE does not check "nested" skill requirements so if you getting a red box there should be some other reason for that. You can hover your mouse above it to see which skills are missing.

Read FAQ.txt or error message after unsuccessful connection for information on how to configure proxy setting. Not sure what you mean by protocol selection as only protocol used is http/https.

Aesir's Guardian wrote:raw value may be OK but with skill the cpu mismatch for me. I don't know where the error come from (I updated my char in EFT and it works). Here is a screenshot : http://hpics.li/45b78f4 You seems to have turret CPU reduction implant (WU-1003) on the character in EFT and not have one ingame. EE-603 is a different implant which affects total ship CPU and goes to different slot so it don't stop WU-1003 from working.
Beta Stryker wrote:...and possibly a CTRL+Z function to undo whatever you just modified on a fitting? For example, if I accidentally delete a module, I have to re-search for it, re-add it, etc. I know it's not a true replacement for redo\undo functionality but you can quickly access removed modules from "Recently Used" group on the fitting panel. |

Demortis Kado wrote:I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but I cant seem to get the Svipul in my EFT. One of my alliancemates says he has it on 2.27 but I don't have it in 2.29. Is there anything I can check for this? Make sure you've copied all the files and not just executable on update. There is a recommended update procedure in FAQ.txt which makes sure you won't end up with half-old and half-new files.

New version is available with Aegis changes preview (except heavy missile damage increase which can be simulated with 5% hardwiring implant if needed).

flaming phantom wrote:why are prices not updating? I have the option checked, and a couple items have the price displayed, but about 90% don't. It seems like it has always been like this for me, but I would now like to start experimenting with faction/deadspace mods, and alt tabbing back to eve to get prices is quite annoying. You need to fit the module for price to update.
Johny Tyler wrote:I went back to the old version of EFT but the Entosis link seems to have disappeared from there as well. I then built a fit with an Entosis link using Osmium. I imported the fit to EFT and the module seems to be recognized and working correctly in the fitting window. But when I try to "Open module group" the modules do not appear in the fitting panel. However it did open the fitting panel to where the modules are supposed to be. There is a "Entosis Links" catagory in the "Scanning Equipment" section, but the module is not showing up. That's strange and I have no idea how it could be possible (unless you didn't noticed and selected to show only faction modules or something like that). Only thing I could suggest is trying a clean separate copy of EFT.
Luscius Uta wrote:I have a feature suggestion, Missile damage calculator: You open a fit with missile launchers, right click under "Firepower", specify target's signature radius and velocity and it calculates your practical DPS. I know that DPS graph does a similar thing, but this way you won't need to have a full fit and can just specify only those two variables that matter. You don't need a full fit - you can just open an empty one. And I can't see how opening it is slower than typing numbers in. So I don't think it's worth doubling functionality and complicating the UI for this.

wrote:How does EFT calculate stacking penalty? So far my results indicate that EFT doesn't penalize the modules as much as the formula states. If you think EFT is wrong somewhere you'd better to compare EFT vs ingame value. If you want to verify your calculations you need to show them obviously. ;) |

Morza Askiras,SiriusM This is an old issue with EVE localization and the way it handles item names. For some reason EVE client expects XML import in the same format it uses for storing localization info internally. It has nothing to do with EFT. |
