Foodpimp wrote:Seriously...how does having this Mintchip chick work for CCP adversely effect anyone's ability to play this game? She could be the most distasteful and heinous person in the world, but why would anyone care that she works for the company. She's obviously not going to be making strategic decisions or acting on an executive level. Who cares?
A.) Your subs are paying the company and thus it's employees. B.) Most of the stuff people are angry about is CCP deleting any post that objects their decision, ban those people and then state that the community has no power about what CCP does, tiotally forgetting it's the community that makes it possible for CCP to even exist.
I don't mind her being a Dust rep.
But IMO some major errors have been made.
1. Hiring someone who has no link to the game and has previously posted negative stuff about the game (I would love to see an example of any other company that hires such people). 2. Give her the normal name. If they would have gave her an Dev name that is not so obvious, she would have been able to first make a name for herself as a Dev and likely less people would have minded her being a Dev then.
Too a lot of people CCP now just hired someone who is famous in gaming land and try to leech on that to attract attention while disregarding the voices and concerns from the community.
All I will say: Proof the community wrong Mintchip. But you will have a lot of catching up to do. |

In this case it's also a clown who openly likes to ***** herself out for personal benefit, almost literally, really not someone who'd you want to have representing your company and brand.
Per usual, us players seem more concerned about the quality and continuity of this game than the CCP bigwigs are and, per usual, we have to point out dumb/ignorant/self destructive actions & stances CCP (as an entity) employs because they themselves are so out of touch with the game they don't and won't see it, right up to the point where they can't ignore it anymore because starts to hurt the company & game in a direct and in your face way. Sometimes CCP makes an "oops" but when pointed out they simply won't back down, partially because they don't get it, partially because they're stubborn and possibly followed by "we don't care what our customers think, they're fickle so what do they know" mails&posts. In the end the **** storm created by that "oops" created grows so big and out of control it wipes out half the brand/company and they have to back pedal anyway.
TL;DR: Helmar is an idiot and hiring an Ewhore like Mintchip is a dumb decision whichever way you look at it so they didn't get the introduction thread they wanted, but the one they deserved. I feel sorry for the ISD and DEVS who have to play damage control taking the heat for the dumb decisions management has made (yet again), I'm fairly sure the majority is on "our side" in this regard.
This is basically the point.
Though I disagree with what happened with the welcome thread, it was totally what they could have expected. |

Seriously, are you lot getting hung up because someone may or may not (I couldn't give a shtaco either way) have posted a picture of their boobs on the internet?
They are boob pictures on the internet, get over it.
EVE players already have a reputation for being 30 year old virgin basement dwelling neckbeards and that whole thread about those pictures has only confirmed that.
Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them. |

There is way more to the story then just her Youtube videos.
None which I will bring up on forums cause I don't like people who have to resort in mud throwing.
But all in all, CCP also (likely) knew about thses stories and still hired her. |

Actually its more out of the irony, that someone publicly said that the Eve community is the **** and the worst out there, then turns around and becomes a Community Rep for the same company.
However it really isn't that big of a deal honestly, and people are just being trollish and at times downright assholes. Tbh regardless of what people might think of her, she does have the personality and qualifications for the job she got, and for that I'm glad for her.

It's never, ever a good thing for an employee to tell a customer that their opinion doesn't matter. Your average minimum wage fast-food worker knows better than to say something like the above to a single customer, much less mass-broadcast it to potentially every customer.
Considering just how out of line people were, I feel CCP Dolan's response was remarkably restrained. You get to present reasoned arguments, you get to present evidence for your opinions, you don't get to **** all over an employee like was happening in that thread.
