Hello. I have been having this problem for some time and wasn't aware of this forum discussion until now. I wasn't getting anywhere with the bug report/petition, so they pointed me to this discussion.
My probes started showing up for the first time in a couple weeks yesterday when i was probing and messing with my graphics settings. After reading these posts, i'm wondering if it was just random chance, as this appears to be randomly intermittent.
But anyways here is what i was doing when they started working again, in case it's meaningful:
A complete Uninstall/reinstall did not fix it, but that was something i did along the way. I think it was due to either changing all my video settings or actually scanning down a site all the way by blindly clicking around to locate a sphere's edge and resizing. Resizing the probes from the list instead of the globe edges seems to just resize them and not reposition them proportionately. After scanning down a site blindly like this, and arriving at the site, i changed my video settings to 'optimized for performance', then i set all settings to Low or Medium, then i did a reset of all video settings. The next time i went to scan, i could see the globes...
Hope this helps. |

First of all, let me apologize in the lack of communication. Second, a fix is on its way to you.
I'll explain a little bit so you know why it took while to come to the fix. First, thanks for the bug reports and information on the forum. Without them we would have been much more lost. The issue in question is related to a driver issue on OSX 10.8.x for NVIDIA cards (only 9400/9600 series as far as we could tell).
Our Mac development partner over at TransGaming has helped identify the issue, and will be integrating a fix into EVE to workaround this driver issue after it has gone through the usual QA process.
As for when this fix will be released onto Tranquility I do not yet know. But I will post back in this thread to let you know, as soon as I know.
Thanks!

Thanks for working on this. But this entire affair reminds me of a old joke.
A man goes to the doctor and hold up his arm. "Doctor it hurts whenever I do this". "Well then don't do that".
CCP to players "It is hard to fix bugs and takes a long time because we need to use cider to get eve to run on a Mac". 'Well then make eve run on a Mac without cider". http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Thanks for the updating Paradox.
I don't know if it will be of use, but the bug persist after the patch of the 10th July.
To Psylens, I'm going to try changing ghaprhs as you say, lets se if I can reproduce the procedure. |

This is so ridiculous I am at a loss for words. I have had the same problem (no blue spheres showing). I had it resolved and then come back twice now. I am not sure what is happening but the people over at EVE HQ better get their S$%# together before they lose players. What are we paying for exactly? A buggy/totally inconsistent game? Great. No really, take your time fixing this. It's been about a month now. With no compensation. What a joke. |

Troubles are back again (was working for like... 2 or 3 weeks without trouble), since the 10th July patch.

Finally an update... was that so hard? You could have posted an update once a week or at least post an official news message instead of just letting us wait without any form of information. Anyway I hope the patch will work. |

Is someone working on this problem? I see its been a bug for some time now. Hope it gets resolved soon. Its no fun flying thru wh space like this. |

Has anyone with 10.8.x checked out Sisi to see if it got fixed?
I asked about this issue in the 1.1 thread that mentioned scanning improvements, and a Dev said it was a Cider issue. But no new information on a fix was forthcoming. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

This is ridiculous, it's months since Odyssey came out, 1.1 is due next week and STILL NO FIX.
It works in Wine on the mac (but Wine is much harder to setup for non-techies)
But the point is, if it works in Wine, it shouldn't be that hard for TransGaming to figure out what changed in their code - at least not 2 months worth of waiting and only 1 dev comment in that time.
But we all know why - cos CCP don't give a crap about Mac, it's such a small market share why would they?
I predict the end of a supported Mac client in the same way the Linux client disappeared - it all just seems to hard for them for not enough return. |

Same here just join eve online and did the 2 week trial first. Saw sphere first time I did training a few days in trial like 3 weeks ago. I have not seen them since. I somehow manage to resize sphere by scanning and positioning cursor where I could see them during scanning (Kind of cumbersome and take practice but somewhat feasible). Overall this is very frustrating. Did take a 3 months membership but not planning to renew if this does not get resolved.

Not fixed for me.
And did anyone notice that they apparently helped 2 people who were having a slow down in their client? Where is CCP Sledgehammer when you need him? There are a lot of us in here and this is a really long-standing problem.
It was in the this week in Eve Issue #11. Here is the thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3596620#post3596620 |

I suppose my posting here is redundant at this point, but another +1 that I have this problem. Been monitoring this thread for a while.
Looking forward to a CCP solution, and thanks to the team that is working on this. Anxious though, this makes WH life completely unlivable unless I depend completely on corp bookmarks... which doesn't work when I'm alone! |

I got bored of waiting.
Download MacPorts, install wine-devel, install Eve Online Windows version
Winning...
Frame rate is better, works flawlessly (except CQ, but who cares about that anyway?) and launcher doesn't display graphics properly, but does let you log in and patch properly.
And apparently there's some big performance changes coming to D3D in Wine soon which will make it run even better hopefully (unless it breaks it totally - lol).
Anyway, I can see scanning spheres properly under Wine and the performance is better. Bye Mac Client, it wasn't nice knowing you :) |

I borrowed a computer with 10.8 on it and now get this bug. Its no fun. I did figure out how to scan without the blue spheres, but its a pain. It will be nice to get home and get my usual computer back...unless IT put 10.8 on it in my absence.

Try running a few anoms before trying to launch probes for the first time. I find doing 2 or 3 first means the probes will then show up. |

This is insane that there still is not a fix for this. I have lost so much in wh fuel costs and so forth not being able to scan. Keep mind, this is not a rant after even just 1 month of the issue. There have got be work arounds, like probes that scan 100% but take a lot longer, using the red "partial" find visual effect and so forth. CCP, you spent our game leads, isk and real world money and its profoundly disappointing that we're into month 4 ish of this problem? |
