As of yet, I haven't had a K162 or other sig pop up during ops. But there's no way to activate scan without probes out. Does anyone know if new sigs will show up on the scanner without probes out? How often does it scan? |

They are supposed to I think it scans every time the animation runs but because as you said there is no button you can never be sure that it is working properly.
But short answer is yes they do pop up on your scan every time the animation runs. |

They actually don't show up on your scan unless you do something to your list, like change filters, click the show button, or whatever. The only time a list automatically does anything, is when a site despawns, which will refresh the list (most of the times).
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Thanks. I'm glad I asked. We were just assuming a new sig would show up automatically. |

Does anyone know if new sigs will show up on the scanner without probes out? How often does it scan? During Ops lastnight, our static EOL'd. The new static sig popped up on the scanner for me (no probes out) with no additional effort. My scanner 'filters' set to show everything with the show all anomolies check box cleared.
The auto-scan seems to run about every 30 seconds (I haven't timed it yet). HROLT CEO Live Free; Die Proud

Confirming new sigs do just appear without any interaction on the players part.
When we were rolling it seemed to me to be near-instantaneous.

Perhaps they're improving the logic on it, but i've been crashing around a lot of systems in the last few days, and they still don't autopopulate for me.

Dear CCP,
I think it really sucks seeing the new sig pop up without even having to refresh the scan... Wormhole space is for skillful players and unknown space where effort is required.
I am very disappointed by the new sig popping up... at least make us have to refresh by pressing the scan button.. I invite any CCP dev to pop onto our TS and join us in our wh to experience life in w-space because you clearly don't have a clue.

Yesterday a corp ate was mining in the wh when I logged in. He had the system scanner open and mention that there were three sigs in system. However when I logged on there were four sigs in system.
We watched it a while and his system scanner never did show the fourth sig until he finally closed and reopened the scanner.
In our case the new sig was a K162.
My guess is that the scanner will rescan when a sig disappears but won't when a new sig appears. So if you existing wh pops, it will show the new one but it won't show a new incoming wh or a new sig site.
I'd love some confirmation of the behavior of the scanner.

Confirmed as well. There is still some bugginess if you scanned the system and ignored various signatures, sometimes the new ones won't pop up. But my toons who aren't scanning who ignore all of the sigs will see new ones pop instantly.

It probably has something to do with the still present ship change bug. The list is copied over to the new ship, but won't update until you do something to make it update, after a new sig appears. Only solution seems to be to relog after changing ships if you want to be sure to see a new sig instantly.

it can be buggy at times. I change from my D scan back to my scan probe window and that seems to update it. Or just close the window and re open it. That seems to update it too. If you are talking about showing sigs out in space they will show up automatically. |

Corpmate today confirmed (by having two alts in system, one who had a new sig show up, one who didn't) that you do need to have "Show Sensor Overlay" turned on and the sensor sweep going across your screen in order for new sigs to show up in the list.
That doesn't eliminate ship-switching bugs from being the problem, but it's certainly something to remember. |

I've reported the signature list not getting populated / refreshed properly as a bug to CCP, and they answered that it's a known issue but will be "looked at on a later iteration".
Meanwhile, I would NOT trust the signature list alone as a signature watch system, and will personally be sticking to the old way of having probes out when I need to keep hole control. |

yes i also close and reopen scan to refresh but we old people were never good at learning new tricks so i always use the good old probe trilu rilu riii scaning to find new sigs appearing.
This expansion was so fast developed and so much untested it makes me cry.It should have been only the ship changes from raivi and nothing else.Maybe after two months testing we had the oficial odysee.Whats the rush? :/

I used a stop watch. The scan automatically runs every 60 seconds if you have sensor overlay turned on.
Also, this feature sucks... so much for the element of surprise. |

The auto-signature scanner is a disappointing feature from CCP and their developers.
Maybe if we all say it at the same time CCP might think about it and decide that they should change it. But that would almost be useful so I'm not counting on it. The Guns of Knowledge-á |
