Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 07/08/2003 16:15:18 A few questions:
1) Does TTI have any Polaris members amongst its ranks?
2) If TTI does have Polaris members amongst its ranks, why wasn't the mining laser immediately reported to GM's?
3) Is it a good idea to produce a list of Eve corporations who currently have a Polaris member in them?
4) Will there be any sanctions against TTI for using 10 of these lasers for a period of time? They received an unfair advantage by using those lasers. To anyone with a smidge of intelligence it would be obvious those lasers were not meant to be in the game and as such should've been reported to GM's.
5) Does anyone trust TTI after this and their most recent "decisions"?
6) If M0O had owned these lasers, would the outcome have been different?
7) Why aren't exploiters being kicked out of the game?

Another question to add to this... 8.) Why did people still believe these were jovian tech after my posts quoting devs and gm's saying they were not Jovian? --------------- I used to be in the FA. I like cookies. Eve Radio is teh pwn. |

9) And just where did the laser come from? We all know the story, but if it's true, how did it make it into that cargo container?
....And why did a ship have it as standard equpipment?
....And just what ship was it?
Too many questions are going unanswered.

<< 6) If M0O had owned these lasers, would the outcome have been different? >>
How different. Do you mean would Moo report being with tech 5 mining laser or would people be going nuts because they kept it.
The question people really need to ask themself is would you keep it? I am honestly not sure what I would do (probably return it because I'm such a nice guy) ).
More questions:
Do we know (then I mean really know) that there were more than 1 mining laser.
Would this be such a big deal if the Saruu would have kept the mining laser for itself (don't really know if Saruu is male or female character). __________ Capacitor research |

Since polaris accounts are a totally seperate account from a persons player account (completely different login name/password for the game), it would be VERY hard to track on a real time basis what corps had members who also had a polaris account.
I agree though that if there ARE any polaris members in TTI, they should have reported the tech 5 miner once they knew of it. Of course we have no way of proving that they DIDNT report it to the GM's.
I honestly dont see what the big deal is. TTI having an uber miner or not having one does not affect me or my in game "life" at all. Its not like im going to log in tonight and say "gee I was going to mine that bistot, but since TTI got an uber miner I no longer feel like mining".
GM's have god like powers in games. That is a fact of life. How many of you ever played D&D? Ever have a GM arbitrarily slap your character with some catastrophy because you ticked em off ? Or use the WORST possible interpretation of a wish spell ? It happens people, move on with life. For all we know GM's are allowed or even ENCOURAGED to sparingly dole out hi tech items as a different form of "rare drop". If the story I read is true (not saying it is), then the GM roleplaying the thing would make sense if he was doing the "giving" in some sort of official capacity. Everyone is all caught up in the assumption that this item was not supposed to be in the game, but we dont know that to be true. For all we know its part of the storyline. I do remember reading a dev chat where they said they were going to start doing some things to spur the players to develop the storyline.

The identity of Polaris volonteers is confidential (even to their own corp).
If there is an issue between CCP and a player corporation it will most likely not be dealt with on the forum.

It's a worst-kept secret that there are at least a few Polaris amongst TTI. If the TTI members who are sekritlee Polaris are bragging about that - even on corp chat - is that their option? Or are they breaking an agreement?
This is an on-line gaming community. Without that last word, you have an empty online game. It's nice to be able to pull back and say From A Great Height that this will be "dealt with," but that's a no-go. This affects everyone, as a gaming community that's splintering at the edges, as well as paying customers for a service.
Translucency is needed. And fast.
I have chosen to spend my hard-earned cash on this particular instance of entertainment because of certain assumptions based on stated policies, rules, and intentions.
If any of those are wrong, or changing, I don't "deserve" to be made aware of it. I've bloody well paid for it.
IC bugreps are funny and all. I like it. I like the new News item a lot, and hope that this mountain of hooey can be turned into something useful and IC.
But this is first, last, and always a business. Sorry to burst everyone's escapism bubble. Getting lost in the fantasy world spells the doom of the game more than anything. Look at all the game companies that are going or went to hell, and why. Or got absorbed by larger entities where, Surprise!, they no longer have any creative control...
A little sobriety now will save a rude awakening later, i guarantee you.
You are in a maze of twisty little asteroids, all alike. |

If you have an issue with a Polaris member you contact CCP via Pann.
If you have a conspiracy theory about Polaris being bad guys and you want to be able to confirm this by having the multiple identities of all Polaris volonteers I guess you're out of luck.
If you have witnessed a Polaris member doing something irresponsible or right out bad - again, contact Pann and report the individual.
We have everything to gain from having a volonteer system that works smoothly and is trusted by the players.

10 mining lasers? As far as I know it's 1 and they only had it for a day or two as I understand it. They could hardly have gained any significant advantage in that short a time. I mean it's only about 5 mining lasers more, and looking at that screenshot 5 lasers is only a drop in the ocean for them. |

This is taken beyond reason, IMO.
- If you see an exploiter - report him/her. - If that person also happens to be a Polaris member (I hope we won't see that happen) - that's something between CCP and the individual.
Frankly I don't even know why this debate came up. You had some weird conspiracy theory of the possibility of a Polaris member in TTI who might have information about the purchase of a tech5 item and hence should be cast out of Polaris?
Pretty far-fetched. Ultimately the deal between a volonteer and CCP is just that - between the individual and CCP.
Let's move on, and talk about EVE rather than wacko conspiracy theories mmkay?

From the chats and what's been going on, there have been more than one laser. (TTI lost thiers and the Space Invaders have said that the Jove reclamied some level 5 tech). In the CSM chat, they say that "the players" will have the items taken away. Players = more than 1 laser. _________________________________________________

If a member of Polaris did commit a shady act.. which caused the release of the uber miner, so what? I look at this and think that the Eve universe has just taken one step closer to realism. See, in real life ppl commit acts such as this every day. So... if there is a member of Polaris out there that did this... U DA MAN! Thanks for making this game more enjoyable for at least one customer. ---

No, players don't equal more lasers... the guy that originally found it and sold it on to TTI said he found more items in the cargo container. These must be the items they are talking about, cause that would make players with hi-tech equal 2 = players. You can't just grap a number out of thin air... |
